Question 6
1. Question 6
What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Equipment used
• Nexus 6P- We used this phone to film most of our film as it has a good built in
camera function and the ability to shoot in slow motion should we need it.
Furthermore with it being a phone with very good connections to google we
thought it would be very useful as the videos themselves could easily be uploaded
onto a google drive and accessed through there, making the struggles of importing
easier
• Canon 30D and tripod- We used this camera for the rest of the filming for shots
which needed to be really steady and accurate and which could not be achieved by
using a phone
• Microphone- We recorded the voice over using a plug in USB microphone. This
made it easier to show the timings for our video and enable us to easily place the
voice clips where we wanted.
• Computer- To do all of the editing
3. Software used
• Premier Pro- I used premier pro to edit my film as it is a very reliable software to
use. It is also an extremely popular software to use so when struggling I was able
to use YouTube to help with any of the effects or editing that I needed to use.
Furthermore premier pro is an adobe software and so it was easier to link with
image enhancing softwares and that was helpful to add additional effects into my
final piece
• Photoshop- I used Photoshop to enable me to enhance some of the images for my
video and to also add a crosshair effect into the final clip. Photoshop was also
useful with it being an adobe software so I could easily import or export files
needed to enhance the overall final piece
4. Online functions used
• Survey Monkey- I have used survey monkey to do research on my film and
ask an audience what there opinions on it are. Furthermore this allows me
to gain feedback on my film so that I could make improvements on it if I
needed to.
• YouTube- I have used YouTube for my film in numerous ways that have
helped me throughout the process. Firstly, when I was struggling with
premier pro and Photoshop I was able to look at videos and tutorials on
YouTube to help with the whole process, this also enabled me to look at
the comments and both ask for advice and look at other people comments
to see if they had tips or were facing the same problems as me.
Furthermore, uploading the video to YouTube enabled me to once again
get feedback for my piece of work and make adjustments if needed.
5. One edit that I am proud of is the
jump cut edit. I achieved this by
cutting a piece of the clip from the
middle and placing the end of the
clip above the first clip. I then added
a film dissolve to give a sense of
movement within the film piece.
This clip is very useful and effective
as it gives the film a sense of
movement and direction.
