2. This shows the basics of editing, which include cutting, pasting, trimming clips. I used
Final Cut Pro for this, as I found it enabled me to have more freedom when editing,
rather than guiding me as much as iMovie does.
3. This shows what comes with importing pictures, as at the time, I did not have a
moving logo. So I could import the picture of a logo that I designed and then
just have it enlarge or dissolve.
4. This is a tool that gives me the ability to change the saturation of a clip, or
make it brighter or darker. These are very important things in setting the
mood of a clip, as small pieces in trailers hold a lot of weight in directing the
genre of the film. Also, if things have been shot badly, I get the opportunity to
try and improve it.
5. This shows the basics in importing movie clips into the program, and
highlighting clips in different colours is helpful, so that you know what has been
used, and what can’t be used.
6. Editing sound is very important, and in the program I got the chance to layer sound,
and control the exact decibel each sound was at, which is very important when
working with foley sounds and soundtracks.
7. When using Final Cut Pro, every item edited, has to be rendered, this basically
just makes it in a watchable product, rather than having it disjointed. You also
have to export files.
8. After Effects was definitely one of the hardest programs I’ve attempted to use, I tried
using YouTube tutorials, but struggled, as many didn’t have specific tutorials on the
things I needed the program for.
9. As you can see below, I attempted many different times in trying to make a TV show
logo, and also moving typography, because I didn't want to use the premade ones on
iMovie, however, with time running out and lack of guidance I was unable to complete
them.
10. OVERALL
• Overall, the two programs I used were very
helpful, as they broaden my media skills,
whilst also helping me to advance my
production work. After Effects may be a
program I spend more time practicing at, just
to learn all the tricks in editing film.
