What did you learn about technology?
Blogger was a new piece of software
that I had to learn to use for this
project. Blogger was a really good way
to post my work that I had created for
me, my teacher and the examiner to
see. The blogs created in blogger are
visible to everyone therefore would
be a great platform to advertise my
new product. In terms of learning how
to use the site it was pretty simple,
the only time I had problems was
when I had to add a slideshow. As you
can not just upload a PowerPoint I had
to use other websites such as Slide
Share to post my PowerPoints then
link them into my blog. Other than
that everything else I had to do was
easy enough. By learning to use this
site I have developed a new skill. It
has opened my eyes to another
platform where a normal everyday
person can post there ideas and have
the opportunity for there thoughts
and opinions to be heard.
SlideShare is also a new piece of
software I had to learn to use. Via this
website you can post PowerPoints
that you have created. Either only you
can see them or you can add tags and
categories so that anyone can find
them. I used it as I needed to put
PowerPoints that I had created onto
my blog. Using this site was pretty
easy. Much like blogger you just
uploaded you work to this site and
everyone can access your work but
unlike blogger you can use SlideShare
to upload work that you then link into
other sites such as Blogger as an extra.
Being able to use SlideShare has been
really helpful as I am sure that this
new skill will come in handy in the
future. Another reason I used
SlideShare was because I preferred to
presentation of using the PowerPoint
on my blog other just using there
settings for text.
I had used Photoshop before as I am
a photography student. These
already developed skill came in
handy when it came to the creation
of my front cover and contents page
for my magazine. The main reason
for the use of Photoshop was to edit
and perfect the images I had taken
in the studio. I used tools such as
the burn tool and the black and
white filter on my cover to add
depth to my cover image. I also
added text and titles to my
magazine using Photoshop. I found
that Photoshop didn’t have suitable
fonts for my magazine style so I had
to download them from somewhere
else to use. For my contents page
Photoshop made it really easy to
create columns and add edited
images in different sizes to the page.
The new skills I have learnt in this
project will help me perform future
tasks in media and photography.
InDesign was a new software that I
had never used before. At first I found
it difficult to understand and get my
head around as it was completely
different to anything that I had used
before. But once I worked out the
basics I found it much easier to
navigate. Unlike Photoshop I couldn’t
really edit my images on here I had to
import them from Photoshop which
made Photoshop easier to use by far
but in terms of creating an organised,
structured double page spreads
InDesign was much better to use as
that is its main purpose.
