1. Question 4: How did you Use media technologies In the construction, planning and evaluation stages?
2. In the research stages of making our documentary, we used different media technologies in order to gain further information and audience research. For our audience questionnaire, we used a dictaphone in order to record some our results. We also used Microsoft Word and Excel in order to produce a print publication of our questionnaire; this helped us as we were able to have a clear set of results to use during our documentary.
3.
4. In researching about the subject of our documentary we used to internet, looking at websites such as the guardian and reading articles about libraries and facts about reading. In the latter stages of our research, we also used ‘YouTube’ in order to research music for our documentary, and then again for uploading our documentary and gaining audience feedback. I found that using media technologies for research was extremely useful as we were able to easily access our audience’s opinions about the subject of our documentary and we could make an interesting documentary to reflect our audience research.
5.
6. To record all of our footage we used a video camera, shot gun microphone, tripod and stills camera. Using a microphone helped to give a clearer sound when recording interviews rather than it being distorted from recording from the video camera.
7. A stills camera was used to capture pictures of us interviewing, as well as using a video camera to actually film the interview. In the editing process, we used ‘Premiere Pro 1.5’ and ‘Adobe Photoshop’ in order to edit our documentary and to create the newspaper print. In Premiere Pro we were able to edit out the interview questions, and also used it to edit our stop motion title sequence. In the editing process we also used a mobile phone in order to record members of our group editing. For our radio trailer and voiceovers we recorded using Adobe Audition in a radio suite. We then also created our radio trailer using Premiere pro which enabled us to grab clips straight from our documentary to add to the trailer as it follows the codes and conventions of a radio trailer.
8. To present our work, we used an online blog which can be accessed easily by anyone. Blogger allows you to present you work in many ways, whether it is text, sound or video. This is effective as it shows we have used a large variety of media technologies in our production. A way in which I presented some of my work was with presentations made on Prezi.com, these presentations were effective as they are interesting and show creative skills and a different way of presenting work.
