Question 4
1. Who would be the audience for
your media product
By Callum Hemmings
2. • For the magazine to be successful, I need to
know what audience my magazine would
appeal to. To do this, I thought of the
stereotype audience for rap magazines, which
was black urban youths. Since these are the
biggest audience, I decided to focus on
mature urban youths.
3. First steps
• To find out what they would like to see in my
magazine, I conducted a survey on survey
monkey. I discovered that the audience would
prefer more content than freebies or
subimages. With this in mind, I know what to
include, which means I need to filkl the
magazine with more content than pictures to
satisfy my audience.
4. Research
• I looked at many stereotypical looks at
different rappers, many wore gold chhains and
vest tops and leather jackets. To ensure that
my audience know that this is a rapper, I
decided to model him around these
stereotypes. In my magazine I want to include
what magazines such as xxl include as they are
popular
5. Discoverys
• Through my questionnaire, I discovered
interesting things about the audience. The
questionnaire was conducted to move away from
the stereotypes and focus on individual opinion. I
found that quite a lot of the audience is middle
class young adults. This means I have a more
stronger audience I can focus on as well. I learned
what price they would prefer so I kept it around
£2. I discovered that many of my audience aren't
working so that as another reason to keep the
price low.
6. Results
• Overall, after doing research and the
questionnaire, the results were surprising. I
was mostly expecting urban youths to buy the
magazines but I discovered that many
suburban youths were interested as well. I
also know what to include in the magazine,
with content in my mind-set and less focus on
freebies and subimages. These factors helped
in forging my magazine.
