1. Billboard Rationale
The design for my billboard will be a simplistic one, for my images, I will use 3. One on the
left, depicting a made up filmmaker, and another one on the right with the same criteria. In
the middle, I will have the front cover of my magazine so it’s the centerpiece of the
billboard. My left image will be a black and white picture of a person holding a camera and a
clapperboard, which will symbolically represent old film. My image on the right will be an in
color photo of a young person on crutches but using a camera. This will symbolically
represent modern film.
A piece of writing on the billboard will be the pull quote. The quote will be, “Love film? Get
Reading!” I feel like this is a good quote, as its short, memorable and aggressive. I will also
have the masthead present below the magazine front cover and stretching across the
billboard. The masthead, which is the name of the magazine, will be “Northern Film”. This
emphasizes location and makes the topic clear.
The color scheme for the billboard will be varied. The left side will be in black and white and
the right side will be in colour. The masthead will be red as it stands out, making it easier to
read.
