Macbook Pro, iMac, hard drive, YouTube, blogger, Google, Gumtree, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Scribd, and Google Docs were used at various stages of research, planning, and evaluation. The iMac was used for its large screen during research, while the Macbook Pro was used for its portability during design work. Files were transferred between computers using an external hard drive. YouTube provided a library of music videos for inspiration. Blogs, Google images, and other websites aided research. An iPhone 6 and iMovie were used to film and edit the music video, while Adobe After Effects created special effects. The final video was uploaded to YouTube.

1. Evaluation Question 4 – How did you use media
technologies in the constructions and research
planning and evaluation stages?
2. Macbook Pro/iMac
These two types of computers were the main components in which I
did my work. The main place I conducted research on other texts was
on the iMac because of the large screen when looking at other videos,
digipaks and posters I would use this computer due to its large screen
size. But for the main design aspects I would use the Macbook due to
its portability.
3. Hard drive
When I had gotten photos online of other texts of digipaks and posters
I would put them onto my hard drive so that I could transfer then from
the iMac to the macbook. I used this due to its large capacity but also
because of the USB 3.0 cable allowing fast transferring of large files
saving me high amounts of time.
4. Youtube
For researching other texts especially music videos I would use
Youtube. This is because of its large library of music videos which
allowed me to look at videos as far back to the 1980s finding the best
ones in which I could use as inspiration for my own video.
5. Blogger
During my research and planning I used the group blog to upload the
research and planning work, but I also used the teacher blogs of Mr
Fords and Mr Smiths for the work that I had to complete and also used
other peoples blogs those who attend/ed my school but also people
who go to other colleges.
6. Google
I used the google images function on this to find other digipaks and
adverts of other bands and also to search for information that would
make my work better for the research and planning section.
7. Gumtree
I used this to find props that I would use for the video, most noticeably
being the drum kit which was a large need for the video but this
website pulled through and I managed to buy a drum kit which was a
suitable price and worked well the the style of our video.
8. Twitter
I used this to create a persona for the band by tweeting certain things
and following certain things which creates a good look for the band.
But I also used this as an aid for the research and planning of looking at
other bands twitter profiles.
9. Microsoft word/powerpoint
I would use these to put different aspects of my research and planning
on to these pieces of soft ware to make it look more presentable
producing better looking work.
10. Scribd/google docs
Once I had put aspects onto word or powerpoint to be able to put
them onto the group blog I would put the documents onto these
websites so I could then put them onto the blog. I thought this would
look better than a regular blog post as it would vary the post type but
also showing all the information better.
12. iPhone 6
For the filming of our music video we used an iPhone, this is because it
is easy to maneuver and film with. Also that for a regular everyday
piece of technology that we use it produces good quality video.
Furthermore, it was easy to transfer all of the videos off of the iPhone
either just with the use of a USB cable or through airdrop.
13. iMovie
I used iMovie to edit the music video due to how easy it it to actually
edit a video rather than using final cut pro which is hard to use. Also
that from doing preliminery tasks I had learnt to use this software
which meant that it was then easier to edit this final piece.
14. Adobe After Effects
For the piece at the end of the music video of the lead singer holding
the smoke bomb with the smoke in colour and the rest in black and
white I used this software. This is used to do many effects but I used it
to do this so I had to use a tutorial on youtube to help me do it but due
to how easy the software is to use it only took me around 10 minutes
to produce.
15. Youtube
I used Youtube to upload the music video, I used this to upload the
video because it is easy for the uploader to use but also the person
watching to use. I also used this because it was easy to attach to the
blog so that the examiners and teachers would be able to watch it.
16. All of these technologies we used in conjunction with each other to
produce my research and planning and also my final product. By using
all of these technologies together it made the whole process quicker
and easier.
