Quality Assurance Manager
Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for
coordinating the activities required to meet quality standards. The individual will also monitor
and advise on the performance of the quality management system and will produce data and
generate reports on performance, measuring against set indicators. This person must also
liaise with other managers and staff throughout the organization to ensure that the QA system
is functioning properly. Where appropriate, the quality manager will advise on changes and
their implementation and provides training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve
quality.


Responsibilities
   •   Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the
       organization
   •   Define, develop and deploy product quality assurance strategy, addressing all phases
       of product development
   •   Set QA compliance objectives and ensure that targets are achieved
   •   Supervise quality assurance team lead, quality assurance engineers and testers
       including the preparation and delivery of staff performance evaluations and career
       development activities
   •   Maintain awareness of the business context and company profitability, including
       budgetary control issues
   •   Assess the product specifications of the company and its suppliers, and comparing
       with customer requirements
   •   Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
   •   Ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation
   •   Consider the application of environmental and health and safety standards
   •   Establish standards and clearly defined quality methods for staff
   •   Define quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff
•   Set up and maintain control and documentation procedures
  •   Identify relevant quality-related training needs and delivering training
  •   Collect and analyze performance data and charts against defined parameters
  •   Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and
      that product modifications are investigated if necessary
  •   Supervise technical staff in carrying out tests and checks
  •   Write technical and management systems reports
  •   Unite staff of different disciplines and driving the group to plan, formulate and agree
      comprehensive quality procedures
  •   Liaise with customers' auditors and ensure the execution of corrective action and
      compliance with customers' specifications
  •   Establish standards of service for customers or clients
  •   Prepare clear explanatory documents such as customers' charters
  •   Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.


Job Requirements
  •   BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline
  •   Minimum of 8 years of quality assurance experience, and 3 years at management
      position
  •   Strong understanding of different software development life cycles (waterfall, iterative)
      and contemporary software quality assurance processes and automated tools
  •   Must have experience in managing and working with distributed team members
  •   Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  •   Knowledge of internet and e-business processes, disciplines and standards
  •   Strong analytical skills and experience with implementation and administration of
      Quality Assurance metrics, such as defect profiles and performance to entry/exit
      criteria
  •   Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management
      skills a must
  •   Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating
      team members in a creative and effective manner
•   Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and
    product quality and reliability
•   Ability to problem solve/troubleshoot operational issues
•   Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills
•   Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems or business situations
