The document presents the QoS Categories Activeness-Aware Adaptive EDCA Algorithm (QCAAEDCA) designed to improve the performance of IEEE 802.11 networks in dense IoT environments. By dynamically adjusting contention window sizes and arbitration inter-frame spaces based on the number of active stations in different QoS categories, the proposed algorithm enhances throughput (by an average of 23%) and reduces retransmission attempts (by an average of 47%) compared to traditional EDCA settings. The results suggest this approach offers significant benefits in managing the high demand and diverse QoS requirements of IoT networks.
