15. SINULOG FESTIVAL
Sinulog Festival – Cebu (Feast of Santo Niño)
Performers dressed in bright-colored and intricate costumes
dance to the rhythm of the drums, trumpets, and native
gongs, and parades the sacred relic Santo Niño. The Sinulog
Festival attracts millions of tourists yearly and
dubbed ‘mother of all festivals’ and the grandest festival in
the Philippines.

Highlights: Fluvial parade and solemn procession, Grand
Parade, pyro shows (fireworks), street parties
16. ATI-ATIHAN FESTIVAL
Ati-Atihan Festival – Aklan (Feast of Santo Niño)
This is known as ‘The Mother of All Philippine
Festivals’ since it’s around 800 years old. Expect
strangers offering you cans of beer and inviting you to sip
from their rum bottle. You’ll be encouraged to participate
too, instead of you being a spectator.
When: Third week of January
Highlights: a parade of tribes and floats, street dancing, a
religious procession, torch street dancing
17. DINAGYANG FESTIVAL
Dinagyang Festival – Iloilo City
Experience a merry street party with drinks and food
everywhere. There are also art exhibits, music
contests, and pageant. The main attraction here,
really, is the highly competitive dance festival.

18. HIGANTES FESTIVAL
Higantes Festival – Angono, Rizal (Feast of San
Clemente)
This is yet another display of Filipino creativity. The
Gigantes (lit. giants) became an emblem of the
townspeople’s unyielding spirit and larger-than-life
artistry. The most awaited part here is when cold water
is splashed everywhere during the parade.

19. PINTADOS-KASADYAAN
Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival – Tacloban City,
Leyte
Locals anticipate two prominent festivals, namely,
the Pintado Festival and the Kasadyaan Festival.
Today, they are merged together in one big
celebration to praise and adore Señor Santo
Niño.
When: Around June 29

20. LONGGANISA FESTIVAL
Longganisa Festival | January
Every January 22, the locals of Vigan celebrate a
longganisa-themed festival. Longganisa is a local sausage
with a creamy garlic flavor and a breakfast staple in the
country.
21. KINABAYO FESTIVAL
Kinabayo is an annual observance of Dapitan City’s Fiesta in
honor of Saint James the Greater,”the Moor Slayer”. Held every
July, Sinug and Kinabayo have become a festivity. Sinug’ is purely
veneration using San Francisco Leaves raised high, dancing
through the rhythm of the gong or beating of drums as the throng
of devotees brings the Saint’s Icon to His Chapel. On the other
hand Kinabayo is a unique dramatization of the triumph of the
Catholic Faith over Mohammedanism followers with the
intercession of the Saint through His apparition in the Battles of
Clavijo and Covadonga with the appearance of Our Lady of the
Pilar. Modernity has added more color to the festival with the
allegorical dance drama presentation of the two events.
22. PATTARADAY FESTIVAL
Pattaradday Festival is an inclusive event which unifies
the 17 ethno-linguistic groups in the city. The festival
was initiated by civic leaders, the Art Association of
Santiago, concerned citizens and the city government
to showcase local identity and Santiago’s origins.
Santiago is also home to Muslim, Chinese and Indian
minorities, making it a melting pot in northern Luzon
and a city living in unity despite diversity.
Pattaradday is celebrated on May 1 with the opening of the
trade fair, Santa Cruzan and Oktoberfest sa Mayo.
