The class will be divided into groups.
Each group will pick a situation and do
the necessary, immediate and
appropriate action.

Are these situations preventable? How?

 Is an immediate-temporary care given to
a person who suddenly gets ill or injured
before the service of the physician can be
obtained.
 It includes self-help and home care if
medical assistance is not available or
delayed.

12. ROLES OF THE FIRST AIDER
1. Acts as a bridge to fill the gap between
the aider and the physician.
2. Don’t compete w/ the service of the
physician.
3. The service of the first aider ends when
the service of the physician begins.

3. To alleviate suffering
4. To prevent further injury

14. CHARACTERISTICS OF
GOOD FIRST AIDER
GENTLE – does not cause pain and panic
OBSERVANT – notices all signs
RESOURCEFUL – makes the best of the things at
hand
TACTFUL – does not frighten the victim’
SYMPATHETIC – comforts and reassures the victim

15. PRINCIPLES OF FIRST AID

indicating a condition, such as

unless you need to place
him/her in the recovery
position.
