WHAT INSTITUTIONS COULD SELL MY
PRODUCT WORLDWIDE?
I think that a company such as the International publishing company(IPC) would
distribute my magazine well, because the company produces a wide range of
magazines not in a specific genre, therefore my magazine will fit in well. This is
because the rock/pop genre isn't as widely popular as other such as rock or hip-hop,
therefore there isn’t many well known companies that specifically produce this genre
of music. However they have some magazines based around the same genre, so
it’s not unfamiliar. Also because of the vast range and the amount of magazines the
IPC distribute, means they are well known and therefore trusted. For example NME
is an example of a magazine that the IPC produce and distribute, NME is magazine
under the genre of rock OR alternative. NME is arguably the biggest alternative
music magazine in the world, and therefore is recognised as a distributer of this
genre. This suggests that people will recognise my rock/pop magazine is of a good
standard. IPC sell over 350 million magazine copies worldwide. The evidence is
shown on the next page.
What type of institution would distribute
your magazine?
This image to the right proves that Time Inc.
(IPC) is a wide seller of magazines and
distributes a huge number of magazines
worldwide, this means they sell and produce a
high standard of magazine, therefore I would
like my magazine to be distributed via Times
Inc.
This is an example of one of the magazines
that the company distributes a well known
worldwide magazine, It is a slightly different
genre than to my genre I am using for my
magazine.
This means that my magazine would also
be in contest with this magazine as they
would be very similar magazines with similar
content and artists.
Time Inc. mainly sell in the UK and America
however sell overall in 33 countries. The main
music magazine ‘NME’ is sold only in the UK, this
would be similar to mine although I would prefer my
music to be distributed all over Europe rather than
in the states. I believe the UK is more into this genre
of music as well as other parts of Europe and
therefore I think most of the revenue would be
accessible in this part of the world.
