How effective is the combination of your
  main product and ancillary texts?

As part of our A2 Media coursework we were assigned to create a music
     video which would be assisted with two promotional packages, a
     magazine advert and a CD cover. For this project we had to work in
     groups of four. My group consisted of me the producer, Jessica Curley
     the director, Sian Hodgson the cinematographer and Sade Fuller the
     editor. In this presentation I will evaluate my media product with four
     main questions. In this presentation I will discuss the forms and
     conventions and also evaluate the audience feedback we received. The
     questions I will be answering in this presentation are:
1.   1.In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms
     and conventions of real media products?
2.    2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary
     texts?
3.   3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
4.    4. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and
     research, planning and evaluation stages?
•   All of my media products are very closely
    related to each other, this includes my music
    video, my magazine advert and my digipack.
    A variety of different methods and
    techniques have been used to ensure that
    my media products relate to each other.   I
    have spent time researching different digi
    packs and magazine adverts from different
    bands such as „Swedish house mafia ‟ and
    „Arcade Fire‟, to give me an idea of how to
    create my ancillary texts and also how to
    relate them to each other. I researched
    bands of the same genre as „Kelvin harris
    ‟, to make sure that my media products
    fitted into the correct genre.

                                                      has an interest in
                                                      the genre of electro

• Making the digipack and my magazine advert i
  considered how they could relate to the
  music video and sale the artist product to a
  professional standard.
• As the video was in black and white , I decided
  to the make the, different colour to make it
  original and eye catching for the target
  audience
How are my products linked through
              representation, costume, props, locations,colour, typography
              etc ?




I considered was the research I did for the
ancillary tests . What I found was that this
genre usually had bold images in the
advertising and album covers I added a drop
show to make the picture more to a
professional .
The actor in the music video and
artist on the Cd digipack are
wearing the same style of
clothing , this style is typically
worn by young adults who are
our target audience
By looking at the
CD digipack , our
audience can make
a link between
themselves and the
artist and therefore
feel encouraged
to listen to the
music and buy it on
line
The cords companies that could
                                             release our product are sonly BMG
                                             and universal research shows that
                                             these companies have signed artist in
                                             the genre




Calvin harries is one the artist we looked at for our
music video magazine advert and CD digi pack .
However we made everything looked professional
• To conclude, I believe that our creation
  followed the conventions of a electro pop
  album and advertisement. The ancillary tasks
  also challenged some classic conventions but
  in a good way adding extra effect on the
  products, giving it a strong exclusive look. I
  believe our products are unbeaten r products
  with a well-built selling point.
