FIRST QUARTER-WEEK 3-DAY-1
I. Objectives:
A. Content standards
The learners demonstrate understanding of the various forms and
conventions of print, non-print, and digital materials.
B. Performance Standards
The Learners evaluate effectively the message constructed and
conveyed in various viewing texts.
C. MELC/Objective
Analyze the setting used in print, non-print, and digital materials affluent
or poor.
II. Subject Matter:
Topic: Analyzing the setting used in print, non-print, and digital
materials affluent or poor.
A. Materials: Powerpoint presentation
B. Reference: MELC , EN6VC-Ii-3.3.1,3.3.2, 3.3.3
Subject integration:
1. Social Studies - Students can explore the historical and
cultural context of affluent and poor settings in different time
periods.
2. Economics - Students can examine the economic factors that
contribute to affluent or poor settings.
3. Media Literacy - Students can analyze how media portrayals
of settings reflect socioeconomic status.

What are the factors to consider in analyzing the characters used
in print, non-print and digital materials?
B. Analysis
Motivation
PICTURE ANALYSIS: 1. Show a picture depicting a luxurious setting and ask the
students to describe the elements that make it affluent.
Guide questions:
1. What can you say about the image?
2. What can you say about the settings in the picture?
3. Wat do you think is the setting of the picture? (ENGL-III)
4. What do you think is the lifestyle of people live in this house? Why
did you say that?
C. Abstraction
Discussion
SETTING
The place of type of surroundings where something is positioned or where can
event takes place.
It is also used in print, non-print, and digital materials can be analyzed in terms
of urban or rural and affluent or poor.
URBAN SETTING
 areas are very developed
 there is density of human structures such as houses, commercial
buildings, roads, bridges and railways
 can refer to towns, cities and suburbs
 includes the city itself, as well as the surrounding areas
RURAL SETTING
 is a countryside considered as geographic area
 located outside towns and cities
 low population density
 small settlements
AFFLUENT- having an abundance of wealth, property, or other material goods,
prosperous, rich.
POOR – lacking sufficient money to live at a standard considered comfortable
or normal in a society.
D. Application
Guided Practice
Provide each student with a printed material and have them analyze the video
setting portrayed. They should identify the key elements that indicate whether the
setting is affluent or poor. Students can work individually or in pairs.
1. What are the key elements in the print material that indicate an affluent setting?
2. How does the setting contribute to the overall message or theme of the material?
Independent Practice
Raise your right hand if the statement is true and raise your left hand if you also think
if the statement is false.
1. It is not really important to know how to describe characters in print media.
2. Books, magazines, newspapers, and dictionaries are non-print materials.
3. Digital materials are electronic records like audio and video files, images and MS
office files.
4. Audio visual materials, tape recodings, e-books and e-journals refer to non-print
materials.
5. Web servers, desktop computers, digital cameras, and digital video recorders are
used in digital materials.
Generalization
There are 3 sources of materials used in analyzing a character. Print, Non-print and
digital materials. It also consist of specific materials to be used in Print, Non-print
and digital materials.
How can you analyze the setting in print, non-print and digital materials.
SETTING
The place of type of surroundings where something is positioned or where can
event takes place.
It is also used in print, non-print, and digital materials can be analyzed in terms
of urban or rural and affluent or poor.
AFFLUENT- having an abundance of wealth, property, or other material goods,
prosperous, rich.
POOR – lacking sufficient money to live at a standard considered comfortable
or normal in a society.
E. Assessment
Critically observe the picture below. Explain why the setting is a rural setting.
F. Assignment
Ask the students to find examples of print that use setting to depict an affluent or
poor environment. They should create a collage or digital presentation showcasing
their findings and provide a brief analysis of each material.
