Maharana pratap
Maharana Pratap was a 16th century king of Mewar who fought bravely against the Mughal emperor Akbar's forces to defend his kingdom's independence. He took an oath that he would not rest until his capital Chittor was freed from the Mughals. In the battle of Haldighat, his army of 22,000 soldiers fought bravely against Akbar's massive army of 200,000 soldiers. His horse Chetak saved his life by jumping over a canal during the battle but died from its injuries. Maharana Pratap continued fighting Akbar for 12 years until his death, preserving Mewar's independence and freedom from the Mughals.

The Maratha Empire dominated much of India in the 18th century, existing from 1674 to 1818. It was established by Shivaji and expanded significantly under later Maratha rulers. At its peak, the Maratha Empire stretched across most of India, but it was ultimately defeated by the British East India Company in a series of wars between 1803-1818, losing control of India to the British.

In 1567, when Crown Prince Pratap Singh was only 27, Chittor was surrounded by the Mughal forces of Emperor Akbar. Maharana Udai Singh II decided to leave Chittor and move his family to Gogunda, rather than capitulate to the Mughals.
In Gogunda, Maharana Udai Singh II and his nobles set up a temporary government of the kindom of Mewar. In 1572, the Maharana passed away, leaving the way for Crown Prince Pratap Singh to become the Maharana.

Chapter 5 - Organisation of society
Ancient Indian society was organized into a strict caste system with four main social classes (varnas) - Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras. Over time, the caste system rigidly divided people based on hereditary occupations. Chinese society was also stratified but allowed some social mobility through a merit-based civil service system. Southeast Asian societies had a more flexible tribal structure that later developed ruling, trading, and working classes in port cities and kingdoms. - 2. INTRODUCTION Shivaji Bhosale, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosale. Shivaji was the founder of Maratha Empire in western India in 1674 Born: February 19, 1627 Died: April 3, 1680 Father: Shahaji Mother: Jijabai Shivaji with his ideology of Hindavi Swaraj (Freedom for Hindustan) decided to directly challenge Bijapur Sultanate rule and eventually the Mughal empire to established the Maratha Samrajya or the Maratha kingdom for there Marathas, by the Marathas and of the Marathas.
- 3. Leadership Qualities An example of this is how readily his men like Baji Prabhu Deshpande and others volunteered to face even the likelihood of certain death at Ghod Khind to help Shivaji continue the fight of independence – eliciting such heroism from followers cannot be mandates, it can only be inspired by : Purity of character Noble Awe inspiring leadership and A truly shared vision for homeland.
- 4. Skills Shivaji Mharaj’s kingdom served as a Hindu bulwark against Mughal powers within India. His brilliant strategic- (ganimi kava) Tactical management on battlefields, Acute management and Administrative skills helped him to lay the foundations of the future Maratha empire in India.

Broad Principles of Shivaji’s Administration The defence of the country (Swarajya) should be given highest priority through a network of well garrisoned land and marine forts, a strong army and a navy. In view of peculiar geographical features of Maharashtra specially kokan region this was the best means of protecting the land from hostile powers. All posts were to be filled on the basis of merit and not heredity, caste or religion. Revenue collection was to be direct, i.e. by the state, through its own agencies and departments and through middleman of any type. During war and in course of raids in the enemy territory the women, children and religion places were not to suffer any harm or damage.

He was just, firm and stood for the weak; he was an honest and able administration. Even today he rules the heart of Indian people.
