Three Things Every Business Needs to BuildGeoff McDonald
There are three essential elements that need to be built in every single business. For many business people they only focus on one of these. Whilst this might give them short term results, in today's Idea Economy and Social Media world, this is no longer enough.
In this webinar you'll learn:
• The three things every business needs to build
• How to combine all three into a single focus
• A simple plan for turning your hyperfocus into reality
Most of the time branding is merely cosmetic. It makes you look good but doesn't earn you any money. A more powerful approach is to design the systems and touch points your customers have with your business - your entire business. Do this well and you'll attract customers, build loyalty and generate referrals.
In this webinar you'll learn:
• How to eliminate the need for cold calls by attracting referrals
• Why One-on-one marketing doesn't work and what to build instead
• 5 Key Ideas and 15 Actions you can take to create a cult following around your business right now
The holy grail of marketing is to get paid to promote yourself. This magical scenario is more achievable than you might think. And, in this webinar you'll learn:
• Why books are dying
• What t-shirts, sunglasses and motor cars have in common
• Why a digital diary is significantly better than a paper one
• The easiest product you could probably ever create
• Why leaf blowers sell themselves
• Multiple ways to get paid to promote yourself
In another Book Rapper slideshow we explore the ideas in Simon Sinek's book Start With Why.
You'll learn:
1. How to re-ignite your passion, energy and drive for your business
2. How to use your business to fulfil your purpose in life
3. How to attract your ideal customers more easily
4. How to be a great leader and engage and incite action in others
5. How to inspire your customers to buy almost everything you offer
Keep It Complex Stupid!
As UI/UX designers we are almost always focused on a screen. Our thoughts are consumed with a desire to understand how people interact with on-screen experiences and how we can make these not just more efficient and usable, but emotionally resonant. However, this ‘micro focus’ neglects the actual complexity of human experience. The way people interact with, interpret and understand interfaces is affected by macro factors such as the environment that the product is in, the community around that environment, the culture of that community and wider global trends. In short, whilst we seek simplicity in the interfaces that we create, to fully achieve this, we need to appreciate complexity: the complexity of community, culture and the wider global society and how these influence the people who use our interfaces.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Kenny Hyder • Position Technologies • http://positiontech.com • khyder@positiontech.com • @kennyhyder
6. Scale It Down!
• If you’re not a large brand with a huge reputation, your goal shouldn’t be to
compete with them!
• BUT – You can still be successful
• The Key is to Target Your Audience
Ex. If you’re a B2C ecommerce site, Digg.com might
not be the place for you!
Kenny Hyder • Position Technologies • http://positiontech.com • khyder@positiontech.com • @kennyhyder
7. Figure out which sites are relevant for your market

8. Social Media:
Kenny Hyder • Position Technologies • http://positiontech.com • khyder@positiontech.com • @kennyhyder
9. This can apply to so much more than Digg, Stumble &Reddit!
What DOES it apply to?
- Niche Sites ( Tip’d, Boudica, Sphinn)
- Forums
- Blogs (Not just your own!)
*Key: You don’t have to make front
page on digg, stumble, or reddit to do well in social!
Kenny Hyder • Position Technologies • http://positiontech.com • khyder@positiontech.com • @kennyhyder
10. Dominate the smaller sites first!
Better to be a big fish in a small pond, than a small fish in a big pond
better
traffic
better
links
higher
conversions
These sites are more relevant to your market anyway!
Kenny Hyder • Position Technologies • http://positiontech.com • khyder@positiontech.com • @kennyhyder
12. Also, let’s not forget...
People are talking on twitter today
about your niche, find those people &
talk to them!
Kenny Hyder • Position Technologies • http://positiontech.com • khyder@positiontech.com • @kennyhyder
15. But Kenny, I WANT a frontpage on Digg!!!
ok...
The Answer: Be Creative!!!
Kenny Hyder • Position Technologies • http://positiontech.com • khyder@positiontech.com • @kennyhyder
17. Conclusion
• Huge opportunity in social for ALL brands
• Find your niche, dominate it
• When you’re ready to go after the big fish, get creative & think
about how you can contribute to the communities
