Public Schools Vs Magnet Schools Essay
For parents raising children selecting an appropriate school can be challenging .... Public, private,
faith based, magnet, charter, STEM, and home schooling. Here is a breakdown and simple
explanation of the differences to guide you along when making selections.
Public Schools: Receive funding from local, state, and government entities. Charter and Magnet are
also considered public schools. They must admit all students within their zoning. There are some
schools that will except students outside their zone if there is room. For example, a Burbank High
School student may prefer the dance company or football team at Burroughs High School, which is
across town. They can apply and if there is room, they may attend there.
Charter Schools: Developed in the 1990s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are public schools that charge no tuition, but can be very competitive to get into to. They are
mostly known for their special programs and high academic standards. The application process
entails testing difficult. Some have boarding facilities so that students from outside the area can
attend. Their first priority is a diversified student register.
STEM or STEAM: These are magnet schools. Those that are STEM focus on Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics. STEAM include the previous four but also include the Arts. (See
below).
Private Schools: These schools charge tuition and rely heavily on funding and donations from
outside sources. Some private schools are co ed while others can be all boy or all girl campuses.
Independent Schools: These schools are private and operate as nonprofit run by a board of
trustees. Their assets come from tuition and private donations. They can be religious but cannot be
governed by them nor receive charitable donations from them. Several of these schools also have
boarding capabilities for students attending that are not from the area. Average tuition is about
18,000 per year, for the boarding student about 35,000 per

Channel 331 Mtv Advertising
Have you ever watched a commercial and felt like it was made specifically for you? You may have
felt this way because advertisement companies strive to target a certain group of people. These
groups can range from children to adults and often target subgroups within the larger group. From
cute animals to attractive men and women, advertisingis strategically programmed to make the
viewer want to be associated with the product. Advertisement companies use many techniques to
persuade viewers to become customers.
Currently, television ads are set to appear at certain times of the day or month and appeal to the
those who tend to watch that station. I chose to collect data from two different sources, YouTube
and Channel 331 MTV. I chose to watch... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I do not believe that these appeals would work for all people. I tend to like products
that offer a fun lifestyle because I enjoy having fun. I like to explore new foods, places, and ideas
and I enjoy products that help me achieve those desires. Like any other twenty two year old
woman, I enjoy feeling attractive. In our readings, we learned that many woman report being
unhappy with their bodies even at a young age. I tend to be persuaded to use products that
promise a slimmer body or more beautiful skin. I do not necessarily want to be model thin, but I
like to look healthy. Also, products that can save me money are a God send because I am a
college student who needs to save every penny possible.
To conclude, after watching ads for over two hours I have learned that advertising is an effective
method of persuasion. I noticed that several ads applied multiple appeals to persuade viewers to
buy their products. I also noticed that several techniques were applied to make the viewer more
interested in products. Before this exercise, I did not realize that I subconsciously paid attention to
advertising on television. In the future, I will try to be more conscious of my buying

Nucleophilic Substitution SN1-SN2
The nucleophilic substitution SN1/SN2 typically occur in a competitive regime. There are various
conditions that define the predominant reaction mechanism taking place. Since SN1 leads to the
racemic mixture, SN2 is more popular in asymmetric organic synthesis. So, detailed computational
studies of model SN2 reactions have been carried out during the last three decades[2 6, 9]. The
influence of solvation of the nucleophilewith several common solvents on the rate constant of the
reactions F (Sn) + CH3Cl в†’ CH3F + Cl (Sn) where S is a solvent molecule and n=0 3, was studied
experimentally (flowing plasma mass spectroscopy) by Bohm and Raksit[2] . The results of their
work are summarized in Table 1:
Table 1. Rate constants measured for reactions of solvated fluoride ions at room temperature in
the gas phase. Values of kr are given in units of 10 9 cm3mol 1s 1.

It is clear that the solvation slowers the reaction at least 100 times. This work suggests the
existence of higher barriers on the potential energy surface for the solvated nucleophile.
Morokuma[3], using HF/3 21G level of theory, showed that the solvation in protic polar solvents
(such as water or alcohols) increases the activation energy accordingly to the number of solvent
molecules, which form hydrogen bonds with the nucleophile. (see Figure 1)

Analysing Theories Of Loss And Grief In Social Work Practice
Analyse theories of loss and grief in respect of their relevance for social work practice
Both grief and loss are an inevitable part of human existence and are at the heart of life and
growth (Walter and McCoyd, 2009). Some losses are painful and consequently trigger grief,
however some losses are natural and a part of development, such as maturation, and usually seen
as progression but can also present as a loss. An element of social work is to assist service users in
their growth, for example from childhood into adolescence, and offer support through difficult
losses. Loss can occur within a wide spectrum of experiences; such as death and bereavement; loss
of identity for example losing something defining, for instance faith or religion; ... Show more

same range of products. Glanbia s Global Performance Nutritionbusiness comprises of three global
brands Optimum Nutrition, BSN and Isopure. What Glanbia s GPN business has done
effectively, since acquiring the companies, is it has created a strong brand image globally which
means it can offer higher prices for its products compared to weaker smaller companies. As there
is a huge growth in this market, GPN are able to grow and expand their business globally without
taking markets away from other competitors. Traditionally Glanbia s products were perishable

Similarities Between To Kill A Mockingbird And Hamlet
Structuralism states that both Hamlet and Bob Ewell condemn themselves, as they are both
responsible for the deaths of innocent people (Polonius and Tom Robinson respectively.) Although
Hamlet is the protagonist in the play, contrasting with Bob Ewell being the villain in To Kill a
Mockingbird. The two texts show that, good or evil, the murder of an innocent person will create
chaos in a community and until it is resolved by the subsequent death of the murderer, the chaos
will continue. For instance in Hamlet, when Hamlet goes to speak with his mother after the play, he
believes Claudius is spying on them from behind a curtain. He stabs at the intruder without
verifying their identity and finds out it is not the King, but Polonius his right hand man.
HAMLET
What s this, a rat? I ll bet a buck he s a dead rat now.
(stabs his sword through the arras and kills POLONIUS)
POLONIUS
(from behind the arras) Oh, I am slain.
GERTRUDE
O me, what hast thou done?
HAMLET
Nay, I know not. Is it the king?
GERTRUDE
Oh, what a rash and bloody deed is this!
HAMLET
A bloody deed? Almost as bad, good mother,
As kill a king and marry with his brother.
Hamlet believes he is justified in killing Polonius although this is not true and dresses Ophelia
mad when she hears of her father s death. Although Hamlet s intention was to kill Claudius he
condemns himself in killing an innocent person. As a matter of fact, he is so driven to kill
Claudius he does not even know who he has killed. However, if the intruder had been Claudius,
rather than Polonius, Hamlet s killing would have been justified as vengeance for ... Show more

Essay on Reform Between 1825 And 1850
While some citizens of the United States, between 1825 and 1850, believed that reform was
foolish and that the nation should stick to its old conduct, reformists in this time period still sought
to make the United States a more ideally democratic nation. This was an age of nationalism and
pride, and where there was pride in one s country, there was the aspiration to improve one s country
even further. Many new reformist and abolitionist groups began to form, all attempting to change
aspects of the United Statesthat the respective groups thought to be unfair or unjust. Some groups,
such as lower and middle class women and immigrants, sought to improve rights within the county,
while other reformers aspired to change the American education... Show more content on

She also brings to attention how they are fighting for the right to vote, when their own form of
government, being the democracy that it is, should permit women the right to vote initially. (Doc F)
However, these women battled on and on to gain their rights, and make this country a truly
democratic nation. Others, such as immigrants, fought to make it possible for success in America.
Due to the naturalization act, an immigrant must remain in the United States for at least 14 years
before becoming a United States citizen and being able to really have any impact on the country at
all. Samuel F.B. Morse, in his Imminent Dangers to the Free Institutions of the United States brings
the subject of the Naturalization Act to the country s attention and attempts to change this act, in
fear of a conspiracy against immigration. (Doc D) No matter what obstacles were thrown into the
path of these groups battling on for reform, they didn t concede. The reformist groups persevered
and fought to expand America s democratic ideals.
While attempting to change certain groups rights was crucial, an almost equally pressing issue of
reform at the time was society. Across the country, increasing the morality and appearance of United
States citizens had suddenly become a much more pressing issue, and various reform assemblies,
and especially the church, struggled to improve society in ways they thought helpful. Due to the
mass urbanization occurring so rapidly,

Healthcare Systems Vs. Australian Healthcare System
The following paper is based on the differences between two healthcare systems in two different
countries, these systems are the Australian healthcare system which is Medicare, and England s
National health system which is known as the NHS.
Starting with the organizational structure of the NHS, it is basically an umbrella organization that
comprises of four regional branches, in particular, NHS (England), NHS Scotland, Health and
Social Care in Northern Ireland and NHS Wales. The financing for all these institutions comes
from a universal source, particularly the tax payer money of residents of UK, although they operate
to an extent as self governing institutions. The treasury allocates money to the department of
Health, which in turn allocates money to NHS England (Understanding the new NHS). In other
words, the top executives of these four institutions take decisions independently for day to day
operations although they abide by broader governing directives applicable to the UK region as a
whole. Governance is an important aspect of the operating of the NHS, for without it exploitation
by private vested interests is likely to happen. (National Health Service (NHS): A study of its
Structure, Funding and Regulation, Strengths and Weaknesses, n.d.)
The Australian Medicare system is essentially based around private practice and fee for service. In
England, they have the National Health Service, which is a publicly funded healthcare system, this

Marriage isn t considered a marriage even if it is the law of the land. Marriage is very old it was

The sense of pride and the concept of rainbows has been changed. Pride and the rainbow are very

Nursing Organizational Structure Paper
Organizational Structure Organizational structure can be defined as a social unit of people,
systemically structured and managed to meet a need or pursue collective goals on a continuing
basis. My organizational structure consists of management that determines the positions and
delegate roles, responsibility to carry out defined task. On a daily basis, there is a charge nurse that

The charge nurse can also be used as a resource in any event that is questionable to the nurse, patient

refers to the beliefs and values that have existed in an organization for a long time, and to the
beliefs of the staff and the foreseen value of their work that will influence their attitudes and

The Importance Of Repercussion In Dead Poets Society
Robin Williams stated in the film, Dead Poets Society, that those who have now passed, [were]
[f]ull of hormones, just like you. Invincible just like you feel. The world is their oyster
(Williams). When people believe that they are invincible, they forget that their actions have
repercussions. In the belief that the world is their oyster, obtaining the pearl inside to achieve
success is nothing but a solo mission, which is apparent in the novels Oedipus the King , Death
of a Salesman and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. In these literary works the
repercussions from being covetous leads to hurting the ones dearest to them by risking what is
important in life and eliciting self destruction. In life, rapaciousness drives a person until they lose
the ability to rationalize their actions, resulting in the detachment of others. When one is greedy
they lack the morality of working their way up to accomplish a goal. Instead they are steadfast in
taking unnecessary risks in order to achieve. Unfortunately, they compromise their relationships as
well.To start off with, Family is the most important factor in one s life. Risking it, regrettably
ensues problems in the relationships with others. For instance, Biff from Death of a Salesman has
an ongoing disagreement with his father, Willy. The two cannot seem to get along because Biff

The Effect Of Doll Tests On Brown V. Board Education Decision
EFFECT OF DOLL TESTS ON BROWN V. BOARD EDUCATION DECISION BRADLEY A.
SMITH JOHNSON COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE INTRODUCTION TO
PSYCHOLOGY Date Introduction Doctor s Kenneth and Mamie Clark were psychologists who
conducted several experiments in the 1940s. The most famous of these experiments were
colloquially known as doll tests. They were aimed at studying the psychological effects of
discrimination or segregation on African American children. In this test, the psychologists used
four dolls that were identical. However, the colors of the dolls were different two were black; two
were white. They wanted to test the children s perception of race. The subjects of the test were

Moreover, he wanted to find out the extent to which color and sense of own race affected their
self esteem or judgment about themselves. It was in rural Arkansas where Dr. Kenneth got
disturbed when he conducted his experiments. He asked one of the black children which doll was
similar to him on basis of color. The child pointed at the brown doll with a smile on his face. In
addition, the child said that the doll was a nigger just like him. This was disturbing to the doctor, as
other children in Massachusetts would respond to the question by crying and running away. The
interpretation of the results was that they were good and reliable evidence that stigmatization by
segregation and discrimination caused internalized racism. According to many critics, the study is
only well known for reference in court cases and not the experimental and intrinsic value of work.
It has been argued by many that the study lacks theory and control of variables. In addition, the fact
that an African American couple conducted the study may have caused biases to prove that African
Americans were stereotyped negatively. Despite the many criticisms of the experimental results
lacking weight, the test is popularly known for its social relevance and impact. It established
contrast between children attending integrated schools in New York and those attending segregated
schools in Washington DC. It was in the year 1954 that the experiment produced some impact on

Finding The Right Words Of The Ancient Chinese...
Finding the Right Words
After a 40 year career in which the need to write has always featured prominently, I still find the
prospect of committing pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, a daunting experience. Don t get me
wrong, I don t dislike writing. On the contrary, I derive a great sense of satisfaction from
completing any writing task or assignment. Indeed, a lifetime of writing leads me to believe that
writing well and enjoying the experience, like most worthwhile endeavors, requires preparation,
hard work, and an unyielding commitment and desire to succeed. Furthermore, I have come to
realize that in the words of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, A journey of a thousand
miles must begin with a single step. At the outset, I feel that every writing project is like a
thousand mile journey, and I know I ll get there in the end if only I have the courage take that first,
single step if only I can find the right words.
My earliest recollection of writing is at around six or seven years old, meticulously copying
longhand letters and words in my elementary school copybook. The perfectly formed characters,
uniformly spaced at the top of each page, appealed to my sense of order encouraging me to
replicate the cursive lettering as faithfully as I could on the printed lines below. By the time I
reached high school, I had mastered the art of legible, almost calligraphic script. The mechanics
were easy, creating interesting and articulate content, not so much.

Sexism In Epic Of Gilgamesh
The world is still sexist. Barbara Broccoli. From the creation story to modern day, women and men
still struggle with a power dynamic of inferiority and superiority. The problem of sexism has been
ever present throughout history, and although it has been acknowledged by many, it has not been
eradicated or resolved. Although the acknowledgment of sexism has grown over the course of the
modern era, it is heavily rooted in society s developmental process, which makes it continuously
difficult to annihilate. Furthermore, throughout many historical texts, women are often represented
as objects instead of real people. Within texts, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Bible, the Quran,
and the Torah, women are constantly regarded as inferiors instead of equals with men. Throughout
these texts, there is a clear separation between the treatment of men and women, with women
always being referred to as property. The Epic of Gilgamesh contains several instances where
women are regarded as objects that solely provide men with pleasure, specifically with the story of
Shamat and Enkidu. In the beginning of the epic, the story is introduced with the creation of
Enkidu and his transformation into a human being; a vital part of Enkidu s transformation being a
woman named Shamat. Shamat acts as the bait or lure that leads Enkidu out of his animalistic
lifestyle, and causes him to become human. In order to do so, Shamat is told to do sexual acts that
will arouse Enkidu. For example, the

King Arthur is placed into two categories amongst historians. The first is a legend of King Arthur
but it s nothing more than a myth. The second is historical Arthur, which believes that he did exist.
Arthur is a prominent figure in history regardless of the debate over his existence. Historians and
archeologists have spent a great amount of time trying to prove who Arthur is and many of these
researches have different objectives and ideologies to this monumental figure in history. Arthur has
supporters but also has critics in the issue of his existence. R.G. Collingwood, Geoffrey Ashe, and

In his journal article, The Willing Suspension of Disbelief, Dave Burnham said, He wrote no
more than a few pages about Arthur, but the vivid image he conjured became accepted as real by
students, the public and some historians. This idea was largely unchallenged for over thirty years
and has power even today. Collingwood made major claims with such little evidence. He laid
out his observations and believed that s exactly how it happened. Even though Collingwood s
ideas were widely accepted, he wrote as if there no other possible conclusion. In his book Roman
Britain and English Settlements, Collingwood said, The historicity of the man can hardly be
called into question. The fact that his name in later ages was a magnet drawing to itself all
manner of folklore and fable, and that an Arthurian cycle grew up composed partly of events
transferred from other contexts, no more proves him a fictitious character than similar fables
prove it of Alexander or Aristotle, Vergil or Roland. It tends rather to prove the opposite. The
place which the name of Arthur occupies in Celtic legend is easiest to explain on the hypothesis
that he really lived, and was a great champion of the British people. Collinwood writes with
confidence and writes that the readers should not hesitate or doubt his existence. I believe
Collingwood is so assured in his work because he is a philosopher and idealist which

Artificial Intelligence Is Identified By Many Aspects
AI: Artificial Intelligence Artificial Intelligence is identified by many aspects. Some would say that
it is the ability to mimic or resemble human behavior in all of its forms (Unknown, 2016). What
would the implications of Artificial Intelligence mean to the existing definitions and moral
conundrums people find themselves in. These simple processes to us raise many questions. How is
humanity defined? The ability to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings help define humanity
and the perceptions held by them. Lying is the unique ability specific to humanity and is universally
understood as not telling the truth. Note that there are different variations of lies that require some
level of conceptual processing. White Lies are a good example of this, as they represent many
different facets of human thought and emotion. Should the ability to deviate from factual
information be given to Artificial Intelligence and what would the ramifications that can befall a lie.
This is a question that humanity should ask itself, as it should not be left to one person or sect to
decide. By teaching software to lie it can potentially give birth to something that may not be able to
understand the social concept of right and wrong. It only measures information by black and white,
fact or fiction, or navigating the gray area of morality. It would use a hypothetical algorithm that
would determine the information s potential risk. The detrimental implications that Artificial

of person in a conversation to speak over everyone to get her point across while also being
assertive in her responses. Her assertiveness could come off to others as proud and authoritative.

Crossing Flies to Demonstrate Inheritance Patterns
Introduction
Drosophila melanogastor were one of the first organisms chosen to be analyzed and study, since
they are the work force of the genetics research. Back in the early 1900s, researchers such as T.H.
Morgan, H.J. Muller, E. Weischaus, and C. Nisslein Volhard were able to use the organisms to
determine how genes are inherited, how radiation causes DNA damage, and there are genes that
controls human development. In 2000, scientists found over a hundred genes that can be used to
study human diseases because they found a way to sequence the drosophila genome. This organism
has been used for scientific research for decades and is continued to be used because they help
scientists and researchers understand how human processes and their disorders. With the
experiment, crossing the flies is to demonstrate the inheritance pattern of a single and double trait.
Studying and manipulating fruit flies, scientists are able to learn about the human genetics and
understand the function in biology of other organisms. Drosophila can demonstrate Mendelian
inheritance because they can display massive amounts of genes, demonstrate genetic mapping, and
used as genetic crosses. Being able to study these organisms across multiple generations and
understand its life cycle would help with understanding basic genetic concepts, such as trait
inheritance. Learning how to control the breeding is important as well, since interbreeding or
mixing the generations would cause insufficient data.

A New School
Brand new school, brand new records, brand new everything. Said Jeremy the security guard. He
s been a guard for high schools for about twelve years now, and he s seen a lot over the years, and
he was positive he could handle anything after spring break of 2012. He still had claw marks on
his hands from the cats. His guard mate, Nathaniel, grunted in response. Yeah, new kids, new
technology, new pranks. He was apparently not as excited for the school as Jeremy was. It was
upsetting to Jeremy; he had been looking forward to the job for a while. He hated his last job,
for the kids there were not raised the same as the kids here. Its only been a day and he already
made friends with a couple of the Drama students. This was a Fine Arts school, after all. I m going
to go walk around a bit, Nathaniel concluded. He must have known he struck a nerve.
I nodded in mutual agreement before taking a sip of coffee. Behind me, I heard Jeremy open the
office door and close it behind him. Alone in the dark now, I observed Nathaniel s progress with
the screen in front of me. As he strolled down the hall, a white dot popped up around him the
security system s motion detector. At the end of the corridor he disappeared into the stairwell, and
I could barely hear the echoes of his footsteps as he descended. A second later he reappeared on the
computer to the left of the first, the beam of his flashlight blown out on the camera monitor above it

The pros of garage door openers are that they are smoother when operating, meaning that they
won t cause the garage door to bounce when it opens and closes, they are faster than chain drive
garage door openers due to the fact that the belt slides faster up and down the rail, and they are
ideal for those who have garages located near bedrooms because they are very quite while
operating. The cons of belt drive garage door openers are that they aren t as strong as chain drive
garage door openers, the belt being more likely to break or snap due to the fact that it s made
from rubber, and that they are more expensive than chain drive garage door openers, costing at
least $100 more. The only way to be sure that what you are buying is exactly what you need, you

Hurricane Katrin Emergency Planning

blame for the failure to effectively respond to Hurricane Katrina. There was much unfamiliarity
with the revised National Response Plan and the fresh creation of the Department of Homeland

process is sometimes such a painful one. (The U.S. House of Representatives, 2006). During a
hearing held in October 2005, it was said that FEMA had been under funded and under staffed, thus
contributing to the unsuccessful response to Hurricane Katrina. Furthermore, there were claims
that Congress had undermined FEMA s effectiveness when it consolidated with the Department of
Homeland Security. Ultimately, no one knew what role the Department of Homeland Security
played during a disaster situation. Unfortunately, there was a failure of managing the risk factors
associated with an actual hurricane affecting New Orleans. The current emergency plan in place at
the time of Hurricane Katrina only prepared the area for a Category 3 hurricane. No one
anticipated a higher category hurricane could or would hit the area. They took for granted that the
probability of a stronger hurricane occurring was low, thus overlooking major risk management
identifiers. When Hurricane Katrina actually hit, emergency planners were now being reactive

Their Eyes Were Watching God And The Road
Unknown Forces and Their Impact The books, Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Road,
seem to be completely different from each other for various reasons. One takes place in the south
during the early 1900 s while the other takes place in the future after an apocalyptic event.
However, both books share a similar idea. In both books the main characters have spiritual
connections with an unknown force that is the main cause of both their misfortune and their
happiness. Overall, both authors from Their Eyes Were Watching God
and The Road believe that
there is a higher being that has control over both the good and bad aspects of life. Their Eyes Were

she tells her friend Pheoby about her past experiences. It can be assumed that nature as well
higher being or unknown force drives Janie s morals and shapes her experiences. The first instance
where Janie connects with nature in a significant way was an experience she had when she was
sixteen. She was lying under the peartree in her backyard when she noticed the bees around the
tree. She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister calyxes arch
to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in
every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a marriage! She had been summoned to
behold a revelation (Hurston 10). Something out of Janie s control brought

Overview of Kurdistan Essay
Kurdistan is a region located between Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. The Kurds are the biggest
ethnicity on the planet without a state to this day. This paper will focus on the Iraqi part of
Kurdistan, for it has come the closest to a state like notion as per Weber s definition. Iraqi
Kurdistan is a region characterized by many diplomatic issues due to lack of acceptance as a state.
The region was established through an autonomy agreement with Iraqi government in 1970 after
decades of disputes between the Iraqi government and the Kurds in the north. The region had
already established a government, but it lacked many characteristics that are applicable to a state.

For many Kurds, the need for a free independent Kurdistan with all four parts united has not been
forgotten and will never be. Various methods and strategies have been used in the attempt to
establish an independent state, but the prevailing conditions have always been against the Kurds,
until the second Gulf War and the toppling of Saddam. This is attributed to the lack of many
defining characteristics of a state, thus Weber s notion of a state can be used to describe the
prevailing conditions within the Iraqi Kurdistan (Zunes 19). It has been a difficult struggle for Iraqi
Kurdistan to achieve legitimacy as a state due to a lack of acceptance by the international
community and constant disputes with Iraq and neighboring countries.
Notion of a state
Based on Weber s notion of a state, a state can be defined as an establishment that is legitimate and
has the power and authority over its citizenry. Moreover, it should have an influence on the internal
affairs of the state as well as the foreign. As per Weber s specific definition, a state has an imposing
business model on honest to goodness viciousness (Oslon 673) Thus, various institutions and
foundations such as the military, common administration or state organization, courts, and police
characterize the state. The citizenry should also be involved in activities within the state. An
example is private equity whereby the citizenry contributes to the state by facilitating infrastructural
growth and economic

Importance Of Depository Receipt Is A Negotiable...
INTRODUCTION
The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through
cross listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which
has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of
the avenues for the integration of global securities markets.
There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing
implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges
is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a
bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries.
Cross listing, particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global
Depositary Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalisation among firms from emerging
economies. In addition to Europe and America, International firms are allowed to cross list in other
countries through the DR programme.
There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor
base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the
increasing visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of
higher valuations. From the perspective of investors, cross listing mitigates some

Characteristics Of Successful Business Leader
There is no perfect skill set for a successful business owner and the cookie cutter approach some
people take is wrong. Businesses vary, and as a result, the skills needed to own and run them vary
also. With that, there are some general traits that successful business leader should have.
1. Optimism:
You must be an optimist because, at some point, you have to see beyond the hard times to see the
better times. Optimism and confidence tend to go together. You, as the businessowner, must be able
to make it through the tough times because you have hope on getting better.
2. Able To Sacrifice:
Being in the bottom spot on the totem pole is something that you are going to encounter as owner.
Your business takes precedence over just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most people start a business for self employment as they can t get along with their boss.
5. Common Sense:
As a successful business leader, you need to have the ability to anticipate problems and take steps
to prevent them. Successful businesses look to outsiders like there are rarely any problems. What
they don t see is a business owner that is keeping his/her finger on the pulse of the business and the
industry. When they anticipate changes coming, they take steps to prepare their business in case it
comes about. That preparation and willingness to change can make the difference between success
and failure. Done well and it s just about invisible to anyone except the business owner.
6. Be Organized:
Being organized is a major problem to most of the business leaders. In case you can not handle
various things at the same time, then you shouldn t go into business for yourself. There is NEVER
just one thing going on when you own business. There are customer problems; there are vendor
/supplier problems, and there are competition problems. As a business owner, you have to be able
to quickly know and understand which problems need attention first. You have to be able to
prioritize your problems and know that those same priorities may change on a moments notice.
7. Be a Leader:
People, especially your employees will always be looking to you for answers. Answers about your
products, your market, your competition and just about everything else. As the

Some of its constructors are as follows:
JTextField(int cols)
JTextField(String str,int cols)
JTextField generates events in response to interaction.Action event is generated when the user press
enter.
The Swing Buttons :
Swing defines four buttons :
1.jButton
2.jToggleButton
3.JCheckBoxes
4.jRadioButton
jButton:
jButton provides the function of push button and allows the icon to be associated with the push
button.
JToggleButton :
A number of variation on the push button is the toggle button. Although it looks like a push button
but is completely different . It has two states push and release .When we press a ToggleButton it
stays pressed rather than being popping back .when we pressed it second time it releases(pops up).
Check Boxes :
The jCheckBox class provides the functionality of checkbox. Its immediate superclass is
jToggleButton which provides balance(support) for two state buttons. jCheckBox defines several
constructors .The one used is
jCheckBox(String str)
When we select or deselect a checkbox an item is generated. We can obtain a reference to the
jCheckBox that generated the event by calling getItem() on the ItemEvent passed to the
itemStateChanged() method defined by the itemListener. The most simplest way to determine the
selected state of a checkbox is to call isSelected()on the JCheckBox
instance.

Persuasive Essay About Travelling Solo
The most incredible thing about traveling solo is that you make all the decisions, right or wrong!
You decide where, how, when and what you will see and do. But certainly, it does not appeal to
everyone, and it does have a downside like not being able to share on the spot experiences with
another. There is no one to share the planning and discussions on the best way to achieve the final
desired outcome.
However, traveling solo allows you to learn more about yourself and what you are capable of.
Some people think traveling solo is the boring option but I believe if you are capable of being
happy traveling by yourself, you will find happiness forever. Not only will you never have to
depend on others to make you content but when you travel solo you also give yourself the chance
to pursue what you want, to step out of your comfort zone and meet other people from all sorts of
walks of life.
A brilliant idea to volunteer
While travelling abroad solo, volunteering stands out as a very prudent option to consider,
especially keeping you focused and motivated. For instance, if you have just completed your
graduation and now contemplating posting your C.V. on an online portal; in this competitive world,

Gestalt And Humanistic Modes Of Thought
Gestalt and humanistic modes of thought share the idea that people have free will and are able to
make their own choices in life; also, a high importance is placed on a person s experiences and
personal viewpoint (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014). Phenomenology, or the introspective analysis of
whole conceptual experiences, features prominently in both ideologies (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014).
Another shared viewpoint is that humanbeings are unique, and as such there is a limit to what can
be learned from other humans, or from the study of animals (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014). The
thoughtthat people are too complex to be studied with normal scientific methodology is another
shared tenet.
The main difference between these two ideologies is the basic premise of human nature.
Humanistic psychology s primary belief is that human nature is intrinsically good and that their
default would be to naturally get along with other people (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014). For Gestalt
type psychology, the basis of human nature is mainly neutral, and people then have to exercise
choice in order to become something else. Coming to understand one s own mortality as a way to
live life is part of Gestalt psychology, whereas for humanistic psychology it is not considered as
important to human actuality (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014).
The application and connection of a humanistic understanding of learning and how it applies to
leadership roles also shares some similarities with Gestalt psychology. Developing

by a combination of human careless and the physical properties of hydrocarbons have caused
millions of dollars in property damage and claimed an untold number of human lives. It is this fact
that has lead to scientists devoting time and resources to making polymers safer. In the following

This dehydrates the polymer, forming the protective carbon layer. At higher temperatures the
phosphoric acid can help in the generation of cross linked species and can under go
polymerization to form polyphosphates. Which react with the cross linked species to form the
char layer. Borated species work the same way, they form a glassy surface that helps protect and
insulate the substrate. The final pathway that will be investigated is the suppression of radical
species in the reaction space. This is done by introducing halogenated hydrocarbons and an
inorganic enhancer into the polymer. When the polymer burns, halogen radicals are released into
the gas phase. The halogen reacts with hydrogen, to form a hydrogen halide. Finally, this species
reacts with either hydrogen or oxygen radical to form hydrogen gas or water vapor, respectfully.
From this series of reactions the halogen radical is regenerated, where it reacts with either the
polymer substrate or more gaseous hydrogen to form hydrogen halide. The halogen radicals are at a
lower energy than either the hydrogen or oxygen radical species. The effectiveness of this method
is dependent on the halogen used. Bromine is the most common due to it narrow temperature
activation range. Chlorine is the next most common but due to a broad temperature range is not as
useful. Florine and

The Factors For The Website
In the first part of Learning Aim A I looked at the purposes of websites and the requirements need
for websites to be successful and to have as many views from users as possible. In the second part
of this learning aim I will look at the factors needed for the website to be developed.
In order to develop a website you need use scripts. Scripting language is a computer language
which is easy to learn and write which consists of a group of commands that ca be executed
successfully. There are different versions of scripts for example Perl, PHP and Python and
JavaScript which has become the most popular and most preferred.Script is also used in HTML as a

oNumber of hits The number of hits simply means the number of people that view the webpage at
the same time. So, the more people trying to view/access the webpage at the same time the slower
the webpage will load slowing down its performance. This is due to the fact that the server will
complete the requests in the order it receives the. This issue can only really be resolved by using a
more powerful server which can complete more than one request at a time.
oExecutions performed before webpages are loaded Before a webpage can be loaded all the files
(such as images and videos) that are part of the webpage need to be found. So this means that the
more files a webpage has the longer it takes for the server to find these files delaying the webpage
from loading at a quicker pace. In addition any server side scripts need to be executed before
HTML files are sent to the user s computer. Scripts can run relatively slow so, in order to prevent
this from occurring and making sure that the performance is as fast as possible the web developer
can speed up the process by making the PHP scripts run quicker.
Client machine scripting Client side programming is mainly involved with the user interface, so
in this case it is the browser, in the user s machine, that will run the code which is mainly done in
JavaScript. The code must be able to run in a variety of browsers. The client side which is normally

Quality Items For An Organization s Reputation
It is important to maintain Quality of their product because Quality items keep up consumer loyalty
and consistency and reduce the danger and expense of providing defective products. Firms have
things they must consider such as: Customer Expectations, their reputation, meeting company
standards, and the most important one which is cost.
Customer Expectations Your shoppers anticipate that you will convey quality items. On the off
chance that you don t, they will rapidly search for options. Quality is basic to fulfilling your clients
and holding their dedication so they keep on buying from you later on. Quality items make a vital
commitment to long haul income and benefit. They additionally empower you to charge and keep
up higher costs.
Company Reputation (how can I use that sentence) Quality has a big impact on an organization s
reputation. The internet today can make or break a firm. It does that because it gives shoppers
the ability to share information about a product or service they have received. On the internet
there are now survey websites. Then there are people who may purchase a product and make a
video of them reviewing the Quality of it and the can damage a company s reputation. In the
business world social media plays a major role because potential buys can share there dislikes and
likes about a product and they use networking site such as Facebook, twitter, and Instagram. A solid
reputation for quality can be a vital differentiator in the business sectors

Once More Of The Lake
Once More to the Lake is a short essay written by E.B. White for his column in the New Yorker,
One Man s Meat. Once More to the Lake is a story about a father who is taking his son to his
childhood vacation spot. On the trip, the father finds himself inside the memories of his past.
Throughout the trip, the father finds differences in the lake from when he was a child. While
much of E.B. White s essay is set in the present, the author explores his own mortality as he looks
both to the past and to the future. Elwyn Brooks White was born on July 11, 1899, in Mount
Vernon, New York, and died in 1985. Throughout his lifetime, White had traveled to many places
and held several jobs ranging from reporter to army private. He became a multifaceted writer but
primarily wrote style manual, fiction, poetry, and children s literature. Throughout his life, White
was surrounded by many other talented writers including Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, and
Stephen Leacock. White wrote the well known children s stories Stuart Littleand Charlotte s Web.
Many of White s works were accomplished with the help of his wife, former editor, Katharine
Angell. Once More to the Lake was published in 1941 along with many other works on which he
and Katharine had collaborated. The year 1941 was the onset of World War II in America. Other
countries had been at war for some time. In 1941, however, the war became increasingly eminent
for Americans. E.B. White did not slow down his writing during

Garcinia Cambogia
Garcinia cambogia extract is a weight loss pill that was advertised by Dr. Oz during a segment
on his daytime talk show. Dr. Oz introduced the product using persuasive language to provoke
viewer interest, claiming the pill is the magic ingredient to lose weight without diet or exercise.
He explained that garcinia cambogia extract is found in the rind of tamarind fruit from
Southeast Asia and that the fruit is known to have medicinal benefits. Dr. Oz stated that garcinia
cambogia may have more promise than other weight loss products because it reduces body fat
and suppresses appetite. The active ingredient found in garcinia cambogia, hydroxycitric acid
(HCA), aids to block an enzyme which makes fat. HCA also increases the release of the
hormone serotonin, which reduces the craving for food. Additionally, garcinia cambogia can
decrease total cholesterol and triglycerides, with potential improvement in leptin and insulin
resistance in the obese. The product was advertised during the segment to target women who are
seeking an easy alternative to lose weight fast. This is apparent as the majority of the studio
audience is composed of middle aged women who represent the intended population. By allowing
the audience to ask questions that Dr. Oz answers on the spot, viewers are left with more
confidence in the product. Dr. Oz specifically manipulates his language with the objective to
entice women, referring to weight loss as a decrease in dress size. Dr. Oz conveys a sense of

The rich history of Oklahoma goes back many years. Oklahoma University originally started as
Normal Territorial University in 1890. At the time Oklahoma was Indian territory. It was not until
1907 when Oklahoma entered the Union that the University changed its name to Oklahoma
University. It is well documented that John A. Harts organized Oklahoma s first football team

players on the field. Oklahoma played its first game on December 13, 1895 against Oklahoma City
High School, losing 34 0 (Fletcher).

Success In George Gladwell s Individualistic Means Of Success
Success has long been viewed as a result of an individual s determination and in some cases, innate
talent. Said individual would generally be of a less fortunate background and rise to triumph with
seemingly no assistance from others. Conversely, Gladwell argues against this individualistic
approach to analyzing success. He instead argues that It is only by asking where they [successful
people] are from that we can unravel the logic behind who succeeds and who doesn t. Gladwell
looks deeper into the environment from which the successful spring and, using logic, thoroughly
explains every aspect that lead to their success.
Texting has revolutionized the way humans communicate in more ways than merely increasing the
speed at which they transmit information. For Instance, Common texting abbreviations such as lol
or rotfl have become ingrained into the culture of many first world countries and are now used in
everyday conversation. Though the individual speaking or typing these abbreviations is not actually
transmitting recognizable English words, there is a mutual understanding between the ones
communicating of what each series of letters means. The meanings of the words are not obscured in
any way.
When biologists examine the ecology of an organism, they observe not only that organism s traits
but also its environment. The biologist looks at things such as the surrounding organisms and how
much of a threat they are to an organism s survival, the accessibility of resources to the organism.
In short, the biologist looks at the organism s environment and sees what advantages it has had that
allowed it to survive, and in some cases, thrive. This is similar to the way in which Malcolm
Gladwell describes Accumulative Advantage . When Gladwell analyzes a successful persons rise to
triumph, he takes into account the person s environment. He looks at things such as birth date,
social attitude, economic trends, and genealogy to try to piece together what opportunities could
have been an advantage and what advantages could have accumulated (hence the term
Accumulative Advantage) in a person s life to propel them to their current successful status.

the development of colorectal cancer (P, 2013). This condition is inherited and is as a result of a

out as a benign tumour but has the tendency to progress onto a malignant form as in the case of our
patient. (Flemming et al., 2012).
Biopsies from this site revealed the following results:
ImageThis histological view is showing an elevation in the number of cells and glands from the
mucosa in comparison to a normal person s colonic mucosa per unit area. However, the cells seem
to remain at the site of origin of proliferation (well circumscribed) without any evidence of

ImageA higher power view showing that the cells do not display any structural abnormality and the
tumour is seen to have well shaped glands which possess several nuclei, further proving that the
tumour is still in its benign stage.

How did society affect this film (i.e., what currents in society led to the creation of the film)? If
you are unable to find any information about the social impact of the film, explain the personal
impact it has had on you. Note: Not every bullet point under the four listed components will
necessarily apply to your movie. However, you will still need to discuss each of the four main
components thoroughly, which means that you may need to explain a concept even if it can‟t
be directly applied to your movie. Your paper should be organized around a thesis statement that
clarifies what you will attempt to accomplish in your paper, and how you will proceed.
Additionally, you must conclude with a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion paragraph.
Stage 2: Reflection After completing your movie analysis, you will reflect on the analysis
process and how you have learned to more thoroughly analyze film as well as how rigorous study
of film enhances your development as a student and thinker. In this 300 to 600 word reflection,
review your initial post from the Post Your Introduction discussion in Week One, and consider how
your ability to analyze movies has changed or grown. Append your reflection to the analysis portion
of your paper. Your reflection should be personal and exploratory in nature. For more Assignments

Veterans Involvement In The Vietnam War
The Vietnam war was one of the most publicly hated wars in American history. The amount of
people killed and the amount of people declared MIA is unfathomable. These troops were never
liked, never supported, and to this day are over looked because no one wants to remember the
years of the Vietnam war. Between 1955 to 1975 over 58,000 people were killed and 2,338 of
those courageous men were declared MIA. These men were practically covered up and forgotten

Some veterans would return or not accept a medal, such as a purple heart, because they feel like
the ones that lost arms, legs, are brain dead, or even dead, are the ones that deserve it (Terhune).
They have formed groups to properly greet these courageous veterans and treat them the way they
should be treated. They all agree that those are the true hero because they are the ones who payed
the ultimate price. According to an anonymous Marine A veteran is someone who, at one point in
his life, wrote a blank check made payable to The United States of America , for an amount up to

they were never there . Vietnam Veteran, Charles Cross, states Until missions were declassified, it

Jack Russells Vs Boxers Essay
Robert Wagner once said, A dog will teach you unconditional love. If you can have that in your
life, things won t be too bad. Both Jack Russells and Boxers are dogs with big hearts full of love.
Jack Russells weigh about 10 to 12 pounds, and live 13 to 15 years. Boxers on the other hand, are
60 to 70 pounds and live 10 to 12 years. The two dogs also have similar body structures which is
strange considering how different they look. One similar body structure is that they are both
born with long tails. Boxers usually get their tails clipped, therefore they can keep their Boxer
look. Jack Russells keep their long tails throughout their whole life. Both companions need room
to run outside. The two dogs have a lot of energy and they love to be outdoors. Both animals are
big bundles of fun when it comes to playing outside in the summer. Jack Russells especially love
to chase animals around the yard. Owning a Jack Russell or a Boxer can give a person all the

the other hand, are extremely loud dogs who love to bark. The reason they bark so much is
because they are protective dogs who want to protect their territory. If someone wants a dog but

they are being harmed can appear the same way. When Boxers sense an individual being scared it

only get rid of Tsar Nicholas the second without having a backup plan to fix Russia and its

between the October revolution and the February revolution. The February revolution started to
take down the Tsar. The October revolution started to take down the provisional government and
the democrats. The February revolution didn t need a lot of military control, unlike the October
revolution which actually lead to a civil war between the red army, the white army, and the green
army. The February revolution lead to the fall of the Tsar but did not fix Russia. However in the
October revolution it lead to the downfall of the provisional government and overtime fix Russia.
What did the downfall of the provisional government lead to? The rise of the Soviet Union and
Vladimir Lenin. The new Soviet Union was getting stronger day after day. Under Joseph Stalin
who was a revolutionist as well the Soviet Union army became very strong. This shows the
progress after the two revolutions have taken place. The two Russian revolutions led to the Soviet

The Pros And Cons Of Zygomatic Dental Implants
Dr. Irfan Atcha is offering an innovative procedure one that does not involve bone transplants to end
the struggles of chronic denture patients. The procedure, which utilizes Zygomatic dental implants,
will provide new teeth to patients who could not wear implant supported teeth on their upper jaw
due to the lack of supportive bone. According to Dr. Atcha, these new alternatives allow him to
fabricate either a removable or fixed implant supported set of teeth.
Treating the completely edentulous upper jaw with fixed implant supported teeth has always been
difficult, especially if it is suffering from moderate to severe bone loss. One procedure that has
long been available is the use of bone transplant or bone grafting, usually from the patient s skull,
hip, jaw or skin, to supply the missing bone in the upper jaw. Because this requires a second ...

According to Dr. Atcha, many patients who suffer from the loss of teeth have to struggle with
wearing removable denture prosthesis, which sometimes causes difficulty with speech and
chewing. Unlike removable denture prosthesis, however, Zygomatic dental implants appear and
function like the patient s prior dentition.
Aside from the shorter duration of the treatment, the Zygomatic implant technique also has a
success rate of 97% after five years, according to scientific studies. Dr. Atcha recommends this
procedure to patients, especially those who are dissatisfied with their upper removable denture,
since this will give them the opportunity to experience the biomechanics of their natural teeth again.
Additionally, it will provide them with a proper biting force for chewing.
Dr. Atcha maintains a few private dental practice businesses, including Dyer Family Dentistry, New

Literature Review Although the researchers reviewed the various literature to develop practice
guidelines, draw conclusions, create the research question, develop a study design, and find ways to
control bias. In fact, it presented key terms, such as hermeneutics, phenomenology, and interview
methods (Dainty et al., 2014). Descriptive style helps to bracket any preconceptions, since
hermeneutic methods acknowledge that an experience could influence its interpretation. The
hermeneutic phenomenological design linked to the study question, which based on the experience
of multiple realities (Dainty et al., 2014). Overall, the literature reviews adequately linked the
interview question and design through interpretative phenomenology theory. Research Design The
naturalistic design focuses on the reality that is not fixed, it lies in human minds; thus, the least
distance between researchers and participants can maximize understanding. The researchers and
participants actively involved in the conversation (Loiselle et al., 2011). The study used a specific
hermeneutic phenomenological design to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of the research

The purpose of laryngectomy is to remove tumor or cancerous tissues. It is done when the larynx
is badly damaged or when cancer has advanced. Often, if the cancer has spread, other surrounding
structures in the neck, such as lymph nodes, are removed at the same time. Partial laryngectomies
are done when cancer is limited in one area of which the tumor is located, will be removed. Also
laryngectomy is performed because cancer treatment option, such as radiation or chemotherapy has
failed. (Gale Encyclopedia of medicine. 2008). Nurses play a critical role in patient education
throughout the entire spectrum of healthcare. Nursing care of people who have a total
laryngectomy starts in the pre operative period with patient education and continues after discharge
with follow up care. The nurse patient relationship begins in the outpatient setting, where the nurse
performs a complete head and neck assessment and comprehensive review of the patient s past

  • 3. Public Schools Vs Magnet Schools Essay For parents raising children selecting an appropriate school can be challenging .... Public, private, faith based, magnet, charter, STEM, and home schooling. Here is a breakdown and simple explanation of the differences to guide you along when making selections. Public Schools: Receive funding from local, state, and government entities. Charter and Magnet are also considered public schools. They must admit all students within their zoning. There are some schools that will except students outside their zone if there is room. For example, a Burbank High School student may prefer the dance company or football team at Burroughs High School, which is across town. They can apply and if there is room, they may attend there. Charter Schools: Developed in the 1990s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are public schools that charge no tuition, but can be very competitive to get into to. They are mostly known for their special programs and high academic standards. The application process entails testing difficult. Some have boarding facilities so that students from outside the area can attend. Their first priority is a diversified student register. STEM or STEAM: These are magnet schools. Those that are STEM focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEAM include the previous four but also include the Arts. (See below). Private Schools: These schools charge tuition and rely heavily on funding and donations from outside sources. Some private schools are co ed while others can be all boy or all girl campuses. Independent Schools: These schools are private and operate as nonprofit run by a board of trustees. Their assets come from tuition and private donations. They can be religious but cannot be governed by them nor receive charitable donations from them. Several of these schools also have boarding capabilities for students attending that are not from the area. Average tuition is about 18,000 per year, for the boarding student about 35,000 per ... • 4. Channel 331 Mtv Advertising Have you ever watched a commercial and felt like it was made specifically for you? You may have felt this way because advertisement companies strive to target a certain group of people. These groups can range from children to adults and often target subgroups within the larger group. From cute animals to attractive men and women, advertisingis strategically programmed to make the viewer want to be associated with the product. Advertisement companies use many techniques to persuade viewers to become customers. Currently, television ads are set to appear at certain times of the day or month and appeal to the those who tend to watch that station. I chose to collect data from two different sources, YouTube and Channel 331 MTV. I chose to watch... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, I do not believe that these appeals would work for all people. I tend to like products that offer a fun lifestyle because I enjoy having fun. I like to explore new foods, places, and ideas and I enjoy products that help me achieve those desires. Like any other twenty two year old woman, I enjoy feeling attractive. In our readings, we learned that many woman report being unhappy with their bodies even at a young age. I tend to be persuaded to use products that promise a slimmer body or more beautiful skin. I do not necessarily want to be model thin, but I like to look healthy. Also, products that can save me money are a God send because I am a college student who needs to save every penny possible. To conclude, after watching ads for over two hours I have learned that advertising is an effective method of persuasion. I noticed that several ads applied multiple appeals to persuade viewers to buy their products. I also noticed that several techniques were applied to make the viewer more interested in products. Before this exercise, I did not realize that I subconsciously paid attention to advertising on television. In the future, I will try to be more conscious of my buying ... • 5. Nucleophilic Substitution SN1-SN2 The nucleophilic substitution SN1/SN2 typically occur in a competitive regime. There are various conditions that define the predominant reaction mechanism taking place. Since SN1 leads to the racemic mixture, SN2 is more popular in asymmetric organic synthesis. So, detailed computational studies of model SN2 reactions have been carried out during the last three decades[2 6, 9]. The influence of solvation of the nucleophilewith several common solvents on the rate constant of the reactions F (Sn) + CH3Cl в†’ CH3F + Cl (Sn) where S is a solvent molecule and n=0 3, was studied experimentally (flowing plasma mass spectroscopy) by Bohm and Raksit[2] . The results of their work are summarized in Table 1: Table 1. Rate constants measured for reactions of solvated fluoride ions at room temperature in the gas phase. Values of kr are given in units of 10 9 cm3mol 1s 1. F Sn kr at different n 0 1 2 3 F (D2O)n 1.9 0.015 0.0003 0.003 F (CH3OH)n 1.9 0.0006 0.0003 0.0003 F (CH3CH2OH)n 1.9 0.0003 0.0003 It is clear that the solvation slowers the reaction at least 100 times. This work suggests the existence of higher barriers on the potential energy surface for the solvated nucleophile. Morokuma[3], using HF/3 21G level of theory, showed that the solvation in protic polar solvents (such as water or alcohols) increases the activation energy accordingly to the number of solvent molecules, which form hydrogen bonds with the nucleophile. Analysing Theories Of Loss And Grief In Social Work Practice Analyse theories of loss and grief in respect of their relevance for social work practice Both grief and loss are an inevitable part of human existence and are at the heart of life and growth (Walter and McCoyd, 2009). Rivalry among existing firms All the top nutrition businesses (Maximum Human Performance (MHP), Universal Nutrition, CytoSport, MuscleTech) offer attractive prices for their premium products. The sports nutrition business is highly competitive with many companies offering the same range of products. Glanbia s Global Performance Nutritionbusiness comprises of three global brands Optimum Nutrition, BSN and Isopure. What Glanbia s GPN business has done effectively, since acquiring the companies, is it has created a strong brand image globally which means it can offer higher prices for its products compared to weaker smaller companies. As there is a huge growth in this market, GPN are able to grow and expand their business globally without taking markets away from other competitors. Traditionally Glanbia s products were perishable and needed to be sold quickly, but after diversifying their product range, their GPN products can last for years and can sit on them products for longer to get their required price. • 9. Similarities Between To Kill A Mockingbird And Hamlet Structuralism states that both Hamlet and Bob Ewell condemn themselves, as they are both responsible for the deaths of innocent people (Polonius and Tom Robinson respectively.) Although Hamlet is the protagonist in the play, contrasting with Bob Ewell being the villain in To Kill a Mockingbird. The two texts show that, good or evil, the murder of an innocent person will create chaos in a community and until it is resolved by the subsequent death of the murderer, the chaos will continue. For instance in Hamlet, when Hamlet goes to speak with his mother after the play, he believes Claudius is spying on them from behind a curtain. He stabs at the intruder without verifying their identity and finds out it is not the King, but Polonius his right hand man. HAMLET What s this, a rat? I ll bet a buck he s a dead rat now. (stabs his sword through the arras and kills POLONIUS) POLONIUS (from behind the arras) Oh, I am slain. GERTRUDE O me, what hast thou done? HAMLET Nay, I know not. Is it the king? GERTRUDE Oh, what a rash and bloody deed is this! HAMLET A bloody deed? Almost as bad, good mother, As kill a king and marry with his brother. Hamlet believes he is justified in killing Polonius although this is not true and dresses Ophelia mad when she hears of her father s death. Although Hamlet s intention was to kill Claudius he condemns himself in killing an innocent person. As a matter of fact, he is so driven to kill Claudius he does not even know who he has killed. • 10. Essay on Reform Between 1825 And 1850 While some citizens of the United States, between 1825 and 1850, believed that reform was foolish and that the nation should stick to its old conduct, reformists in this time period still sought to make the United States a more ideally democratic nation. This was an age of nationalism and pride, and where there was pride in one s country, there was the aspiration to improve one s country even further. Many new reformist and abolitionist groups began to form, all attempting to change aspects of the United Statesthat the respective groups thought to be unfair or unjust. Some groups, such as lower and middle class women and immigrants, sought to improve rights within the county, while other reformers aspired to change the American education... She also brings to attention how they are fighting for the right to vote, when their own form of government, being the democracy that it is, should permit women the right to vote initially. (Doc F) However, these women battled on and on to gain their rights, and make this country a truly democratic nation. Others, such as immigrants, fought to make it possible for success in America. Due to the naturalization act, an immigrant must remain in the United States for at least 14 years before becoming a United States citizen and being able to really have any impact on the country at all. Samuel F.B. Morse, in his Imminent Dangers to the Free Institutions of the United States brings the subject of the Naturalization Act to the country s attention and attempts to change this act, in fear of a conspiracy against immigration. (Doc D) No matter what obstacles were thrown into the path of these groups battling on for reform, they didn t concede. The reformist groups persevered and fought to expand America s democratic ideals. While attempting to change certain groups rights was crucial, an almost equally pressing issue of reform at the time was society. Across the country, increasing the morality and appearance of United States citizens had suddenly become a much more pressing issue, and various reform assemblies, and especially the church, struggled to improve society in ways they thought helpful. • 11. Healthcare Systems Vs. Australian Healthcare System The following paper is based on the differences between two healthcare systems in two different countries, these systems are the Australian healthcare system which is Medicare, and England s National health system which is known as the NHS. Starting with the organizational structure of the NHS, it is basically an umbrella organization that comprises of four regional branches, in particular, NHS (England), NHS Scotland, Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland and NHS Wales. The financing for all these institutions comes from a universal source, particularly the tax payer money of residents of UK, although they operate to an extent as self governing institutions. The treasury allocates money to the department of Health, which in turn allocates money to NHS England (Understanding the new NHS). In other words, the top executives of these four institutions take decisions independently for day to day operations although they abide by broader governing directives applicable to the UK region as a whole. Governance is an important aspect of the operating of the NHS, for without it exploitation by private vested interests is likely to happen. (National Health Service (NHS): A study of its Structure, Funding and Regulation, Strengths and Weaknesses, n.d.) • 14. The Importance Of Repercussion In Dead Poets Society Robin Williams stated in the film, Dead Poets Society, that those who have now passed, [were] [f]ull of hormones, just like you. Invincible just like you feel. The world is their oyster (Williams). When people believe that they are invincible, they forget that their actions have repercussions. In the belief that the world is their oyster, obtaining the pearl inside to achieve success is nothing but a solo mission, which is apparent in the novels Oedipus the King , Death of a Salesman and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. In these literary works the repercussions from being covetous leads to hurting the ones dearest to them by risking what is important in life and eliciting self destruction. In life, rapaciousness drives a person until they lose the ability to rationalize their actions, resulting in the detachment of others. When one is greedy they lack the morality of working their way up to accomplish a goal. Instead they are steadfast in taking unnecessary risks in order to achieve. Unfortunately, they compromise their relationships as well.To start off with, Family is the most important factor in one s life. SMITH JOHNSON COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY Date Introduction Doctor s Kenneth and Mamie Clark were psychologists who conducted several experiments in the 1940s. The most famous of these experiments were colloquially known as doll tests. They were aimed at studying the psychological effects of discrimination or segregation on African American children. In this test, the psychologists used four dolls that were identical. However, the colors of the dolls were different two were black; two were white. They wanted to test the children s perception of race. The subjects of the test were children between the ages of three to seven years... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, he wanted to find out the extent to which color and sense of own race affected their self esteem or judgment about themselves. It was in rural Arkansas where Dr. Kenneth got disturbed when he conducted his experiments. He asked one of the black children which doll was similar to him on basis of color. The child pointed at the brown doll with a smile on his face. In addition, the child said that the doll was a nigger just like him. This was disturbing to the doctor, as other children in Massachusetts would respond to the question by crying and running away. The interpretation of the results was that they were good and reliable evidence that stigmatization by segregation and discrimination caused internalized racism. According to many critics, the study is only well known for reference in court cases and not the experimental and intrinsic value of work. It has been argued by many that the study lacks theory and control of variables. In addition, the fact that an African American couple conducted the study may have caused biases to prove that African Americans were stereotyped negatively. Despite the many criticisms of the experimental results lacking weight, the test is popularly known for its social relevance and impact. It established contrast between children attending integrated schools in New York and those attending segregated schools in Washington DC. • 17. Finding The Right Words Of The Ancient Chinese... Finding the Right Words After a 40 year career in which the need to write has always featured prominently, I still find the prospect of committing pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, a daunting experience. Don t get me wrong, I don t dislike writing. On the contrary, I derive a great sense of satisfaction from completing any writing task or assignment. Indeed, a lifetime of writing leads me to believe that writing well and enjoying the experience, like most worthwhile endeavors, requires preparation, hard work, and an unyielding commitment and desire to succeed. Furthermore, I have come to realize that in the words of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step. At the outset, I feel that every writing project is like a thousand mile journey, and I know I ll get there in the end if only I have the courage take that first, single step if only I can find the right words. My earliest recollection of writing is at around six or seven years old, meticulously copying longhand letters and words in my elementary school copybook. The perfectly formed characters, uniformly spaced at the top of each page, appealed to my sense of order encouraging me to replicate the cursive lettering as faithfully as I could on the printed lines below. By the time I reached high school, I had mastered the art of legible, almost calligraphic script. The mechanics were easy, creating interesting and articulate content, not so much. ... From the creation story to modern day, women and men still struggle with a power dynamic of inferiority and superiority. The problem of sexism has been ever present throughout history, and although it has been acknowledged by many, it has not been eradicated or resolved. Although the acknowledgment of sexism has grown over the course of the modern era, it is heavily rooted in society s developmental process, which makes it continuously difficult to annihilate. Furthermore, throughout many historical texts, women are often represented as objects instead of real people. Within texts, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Bible, the Quran, and the Torah, women are constantly regarded as inferiors instead of equals with men. Throughout these texts, there is a clear separation between the treatment of men and women, with women always being referred to as property. The Epic of Gilgamesh contains several instances where women are regarded as objects that solely provide men with pleasure, specifically with the story of Shamat and Enkidu. In the beginning of the epic, the story is introduced with the creation of Enkidu and his transformation into a human being; a vital part of Enkidu s transformation being a woman named Shamat. Shamat acts as the bait or lure that leads Enkidu out of his animalistic lifestyle, and causes him to become human. In order to do so, Shamat is told to do sexual acts that will arouse Enkidu. He laid out his observations and believed that s exactly how it happened. Even though Collingwood s ideas were widely accepted, he wrote as if there no other possible conclusion. In his book Roman Britain and English Settlements, Collingwood said, The historicity of the man can hardly be called into question. Some would say that it is the ability to mimic or resemble human behavior in all of its forms (Unknown, 2016). What would the implications of Artificial Intelligence mean to the existing definitions and moral conundrums people find themselves in. These simple processes to us raise many questions. How is humanity defined? The ability to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings help define humanity and the perceptions held by them. Lying is the unique ability specific to humanity and is universally understood as not telling the truth. Note that there are different variations of lies that require some level of conceptual processing. White Lies are a good example of this, as they represent many different facets of human thought and emotion. Should the ability to deviate from factual information be given to Artificial Intelligence and what would the ramifications that can befall a lie. This is a question that humanity should ask itself, as it should not be left to one person or sect to decide. By teaching software to lie it can potentially give birth to something that may not be able to understand the social concept of right and wrong. Crossing Flies to Demonstrate Inheritance Patterns Introduction Drosophila melanogastor were one of the first organisms chosen to be analyzed and study, since they are the work force of the genetics research. Back in the early 1900s, researchers such as T.H. Morgan, H.J. Muller, E. Weischaus, and C. Nisslein Volhard were able to use the organisms to determine how genes are inherited, how radiation causes DNA damage, and there are genes that controls human development. In 2000, scientists found over a hundred genes that can be used to study human diseases because they found a way to sequence the drosophila genome. This organism has been used for scientific research for decades and is continued to be used because they help scientists and researchers understand how human processes and their disorders. With the experiment, crossing the flies is to demonstrate the inheritance pattern of a single and double trait. Studying and manipulating fruit flies, scientists are able to learn about the human genetics and understand the function in biology of other organisms. Drosophila can demonstrate Mendelian inheritance because they can display massive amounts of genes, demonstrate genetic mapping, and used as genetic crosses. Being able to study these organisms across multiple generations and understand its life cycle would help with understanding basic genetic concepts, such as trait inheritance. Learning how to control the breeding is important as well, since interbreeding or mixing the generations would cause insufficient data. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Importance Of Depository Receipt Is A Negotiable... INTRODUCTION The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through cross listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of the avenues for the integration of global securities markets. There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries. Cross listing, particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalisation among firms from emerging economies. • 39. Gestalt And Humanistic Modes Of Thought Gestalt and humanistic modes of thought share the idea that people have free will and are able to make their own choices in life; also, a high importance is placed on a person s experiences and personal viewpoint (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014). Phenomenology, or the introspective analysis of whole conceptual experiences, features prominently in both ideologies (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014). Another shared viewpoint is that humanbeings are unique, and as such there is a limit to what can be learned from other humans, or from the study of animals (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014). The thoughtthat people are too complex to be studied with normal scientific methodology is another shared tenet. The main difference between these two ideologies is the basic premise of human nature. Humanistic psychology s primary belief is that human nature is intrinsically good and that their default would be to naturally get along with other people (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014). For Gestalt type psychology, the basis of human nature is mainly neutral, and people then have to exercise choice in order to become something else. Coming to understand one s own mortality as a way to live life is part of Gestalt psychology, whereas for humanistic psychology it is not considered as important to human actuality (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014). The application and connection of a humanistic understanding of learning and how it applies to leadership roles also shares some similarities with Gestalt psychology. Developing ... At higher temperatures the phosphoric acid can help in the generation of cross linked species and can under go polymerization to form polyphosphates. Which react with the cross linked species to form the char layer. Borated species work the same way, they form a glassy surface that helps protect and insulate the substrate. The final pathway that will be investigated is the suppression of radical species in the reaction space. This is done by introducing halogenated hydrocarbons and an inorganic enhancer into the polymer. When the polymer burns, halogen radicals are released into the gas phase. The halogen reacts with hydrogen, to form a hydrogen halide. Finally, this species reacts with either hydrogen or oxygen radical to form hydrogen gas or water vapor, respectfully. From this series of reactions the halogen radical is regenerated, where it reacts with either the polymer substrate or more gaseous hydrogen to form hydrogen halide. The halogen radicals are at a lower energy than either the hydrogen or oxygen radical species. The effectiveness of this method is dependent on the halogen used. Said individual would generally be of a less fortunate background and rise to triumph with seemingly no assistance from others. Conversely, Gladwell argues against this individualistic approach to analyzing success. He instead argues that It is only by asking where they [successful people] are from that we can unravel the logic behind who succeeds and who doesn t. Gladwell looks deeper into the environment from which the successful spring and, using logic, thoroughly explains every aspect that lead to their success. Texting has revolutionized the way humans communicate in more ways than merely increasing the speed at which they transmit information. For Instance, Common texting abbreviations such as lol or rotfl have become ingrained into the culture of many first world countries and are now used in everyday conversation. Though the individual speaking or typing these abbreviations is not actually transmitting recognizable English words, there is a mutual understanding between the ones communicating of what each series of letters means. The meanings of the words are not obscured in any way. When biologists examine the ecology of an organism, they observe not only that organism s traits but also its environment. The biologist looks at things such as the surrounding organisms and how much of a threat they are to an organism s survival, the accessibility of resources to the organism. In short, the biologist looks at the organism s environment and sees what advantages it has had that allowed it to survive, and in some cases, thrive. This is similar to the way in which Malcolm Gladwell describes Accumulative Advantage . When Gladwell analyzes a successful persons rise to triumph, he takes into account the person s environment. He looks at things such as birth date, social attitude, economic trends, and genealogy to try to piece together what opportunities could have been an advantage and what advantages could have accumulated (hence the term Accumulative Advantage) in a person s life to propel them to their current successful status. The procedure, which utilizes Zygomatic dental implants, will provide new teeth to patients who could not wear implant supported teeth on their upper jaw due to the lack of supportive bone. According to Dr. Atcha, these new alternatives allow him to fabricate either a removable or fixed implant supported set of teeth. Treating the completely edentulous upper jaw with fixed implant supported teeth has always been difficult, especially if it is suffering from moderate to severe bone loss. Unlike removable denture prosthesis, however, Zygomatic dental implants appear and function like the patient s prior dentition. Aside from the shorter duration of the treatment, the Zygomatic implant technique also has a success rate of 97% after five years, according to scientific studies. Literature Review Although the researchers reviewed the various literature to develop practice guidelines, draw conclusions, create the research question, develop a study design, and find ways to control bias. In fact, it presented key terms, such as hermeneutics, phenomenology, and interview methods (Dainty et al., 2014). Descriptive style helps to bracket any preconceptions, since hermeneutic methods acknowledge that an experience could influence its interpretation. The hermeneutic phenomenological design linked to the study question, which based on the experience of multiple realities (Dainty et al., 2014). Overall, the literature reviews adequately linked the interview question and design through interpretative phenomenology theory. Research Design The naturalistic design focuses on the reality that is not fixed, it lies in human minds; thus, the least distance between researchers and participants can maximize understanding. The researchers and participants actively involved in the conversation (Loiselle et al., 2011). The study used a specific hermeneutic phenomenological design to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of the research question (Dainty et al., 2014).
