Fara presedntation at wa organic agriculture congress cotonou 2014 PABE BENIN
The document discusses the role of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) in advancing ecological and organic agriculture in Africa. It notes that over 40% of Africans live on less than $1 per day and food insecurity is a major challenge. FARA aims to increase broad-based agricultural productivity, competitiveness and markets through facilitating innovation, strengthening capacity, and building partnerships. FARA advocates for ecological agriculture as a way to utilize Africa's natural resources and biodiversity to improve food security, alleviate poverty, and increase resilience to challenges like climate change.
Cell division involves the replication and division of cells. There are two main types - eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell division. Eukaryotic cells must divide their nucleus and organelles before cell division through mitosis or meiosis. Prokaryotes like bacteria simply divide their single chromosome through binary fission. The cell cycle involves interphase where the cell grows and its DNA is replicated, followed by mitosis where the cell divides into two daughter cells through prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase, completed by cytokinesis where the cytoplasm is divided.
The document provides examples of instruction text that are not clear enough for students to understand what is being asked of them. It analyzes several examples of instruction text with missing information, unclear expectations, or false instructions. The overall message is that instruction text provided to students needs to be written in a clear, explicit manner so students know exactly what is being asked and how to correctly respond.

Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) are alternative certification systems for organic smallholder farmers that involve direct participation by stakeholders in certifying organic production and processing. PGS were developed as a low-cost option for small farms serving local markets. In Uganda, several PGS groups have been established since 2007 when PGS was adopted as an alternative to costly third-party certification. Examples are provided of existing PGS groups ranging in size from 23 to 1250 approved farmers. Key aspects of establishing and managing a successful PGS group are outlined.
The document is a vocabulary practice from Northern School of Agriculture. It contains a list of Spanish words and their English translations related to farming and agriculture. Pedro Luis Ochoa Hernandez practices identifying and describing activities involving tools, animals, and plants commonly used on farms. These include using a hoe, shovel, tractor, and rake as well as interacting with pigs, cattle, chickens, bees, and rabbits. Foods mentioned include rice, corn, beans, okra, yucca, and lemons.

Ecological and Organic Agriculture: what contribution
to food security and poverty reduction Presented by Ousséni DIALLO, President of Green Cross International/Burkina Faso
These PGS groups range in size from 23 to over 1,250 approved organic farmers working together on commercial organic crop production and marketing. While PGS have helped farmers access markets, challenges remain in further sensitizing consumers and attracting more farmers to the group certification model.
The document outlines Ghana's efforts to institutionalize ecological organic agriculture. It discusses how research, training and extension are contributing through universities and research institutions. Market development and value chains are led by the private sector, regulated by the government. Networking and partnerships exist between organic growers, exporters, researchers, NGOs and government agencies. Constraints include a lack of resources committed to organic agriculture and underdeveloped domestic markets. Strategies to strengthen the sector include building private sector advocacy, supporting organic businesses, and mainstreaming organic agriculture data collection in Ghana.
