The first constitution in Spain was called La Pepa and was signed on March 19th, 1812 in Cádiz. It was an important and modern document that established equality and freedom for all, organized Spain as a constitutional monarchy with a king and elected ministers, and granted men the right to vote at age 18. This was a milestone as the first constitution for Spain.
