Aramark Personal Statement
Up until recently I had been pursuing a Bachelor s Degree in Hospitality Management with a
concentration in Meeting and Event Planning. As a senior noncommissioned officer (NCO) I have had
multiple opportunities to plan, coordinate, and execute numerous military ceremonies, receptions, and
specialty events for high ranking Officers and NCO. Through these events I realized I had a special
talent I could use outside of the Army in the civilian workforce. I have spent considerable time
researching the various companies within the hospitality industry looking for potential jobs that would
allow me to build a substantial knowledge base of my chosen profession. I chose Aramark due to their
wide variety of services and I would be able to sharpen my leadership and managerial skills in the
civilian market. Aramark Corporation is one of the oldest and most experienced companies providing
a broad spectrum of customer services across food, facilities, and uniform services, wherever people
work, play, learn and recover (About us, n.d.). Davre Davidson started this company by selling
peanuts out of the back of his Dodge pick up. Eventually named the Davidson Brothers Inc. they
merged with Automatic Retailers Merchandizing Company and formed the Automatic Retailers of

Horror Movies As A Child s Play One Or Bride Of Chucky
The horror movie that stands out to me was not the first that I have seen. Ever since I was roughly four
had been watching real life crime shows with my father and murder mysteries, so my taste in movies
and shows started from there. I had watched horror movies before, but the series that I distinctly
remember is Chucky. When I was in the third grade my father said that I could watch the Chucky
movies with him, to this day it is my favorite movie series and to this day if you bring it up my mother
gets angry. The plot line in Chucky is that a serial strangler by the name of Charles Lee Ray is caught
and right before he dies passes his soul into the body of a doll. Then the doll is given to a little boy
and if you haven t seen the movie you can assume what happens. ... Show more content on

There are 6 movies in the Chucky series. Which personally, I believe that either Child s play 1, or
Bride of Chucky is the best. Although I have watched other horror movies that I am in love with since
the first time that I watched chucky nothing can take it s place. Everytime I watch Chucky I m
reminded of the first time that I ever genuinely enjoyed horror movies and it sparked my interest.
After that I started asking to view more movies, looking them up and taking an interest in the horror
genre. This movie series also reminds me of being a child and watching movies with my dad and

The Baseline Study Of The Elderly Study Sample Essay
RESULTS
The baseline study of the elderly study sample are as shown in the given table. It can be observed that
three fifths of the total sample were composed of women, and also an expression of the high
prevalence of diabetes, antihypertensive treatment, and CVD are evident.
Table 1: Baseline characteristics of the study sample
Characteristic Value
Clinical features Women (%) 62.3 Age (years) 79.0 ± 4.5 Systolic blood pressure (mmHg) 143 ± 21
Diastolic blood pressure (mmHg) 72 ± 11 BMI (kg/m2) 26.8 ± 4.7 Antihypertensive treatment (%)
48.9 Current smoking (%) 8.3 Diabetes (%) 27.4 History of atrial fibrillation (%) 10.6 Prevalent heart

The Clinical Correlation of Leptin and its Relation to the Antecedent BMI
Leptin was found to strongly correlate to the BMI at the index of examination where it was found that
r = 0.67, P 0.0001. In the case of multivariable analyses testing the clinical correlates of the log
Leptin, BMI with a partial R2 = 0.26 and sex with a partial R2 = 0.28 were found to be the strongest
correlates. For the women with a median of 17.4 and the quartiles 1 and 3 to be 10.6 and 28.7
respectively; this demonstrated a higher Leptin level than in the men with a median of 7.2 and the first
and third quartiles of 4.5 and 11.4

The Blue Ridge Mountains And Allegheny Mountains
N estled between the Blue Ridge Mountains and Allegheny Mountains, Rockingham County is located
within the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Originally founded in 1778, Rockingham County has
become a historical community committed to implementing an economic strategy of attracting new
business and industry that are compatible with the way of life in the Shenandoah Valley and assisting
in the retention and expansion of existing companies (Rockingham County). Most commonly known
for its beauty, Rockingham County is comprised of six metropolitan cities, of which Harrisonburg
holds the county seat (Rockingham County).
Harrisonburg, VA is an independent city fully located within the borders of Rockingham County.
Founded in 1779, Harrisonburg has prided itself on its beauty as well as its politeness. Nicknamed as
the friendly city , Harrisonburg is commonly known for its developing downtown district, James
Madison University and Eastern Mennonite University (About Harrisonburg, 2014).
Due to a number of different factors, the population of Harrisonburg Rockingham County has steadily
increased since the 2010 Census (QuickFacts, 2010). Although beneficial for economic development,
the rise in population has been accompanied by a rise in the community crime rate. As a result, the
Rockingham Harrisonburg Regional Jail is currently extensively overcrowded and has been for some

Western Influence and Women of the Middle East
The omnipresence of the American and European culture in the countries of the Middle East is a
universally recognized phenomenon. The culture, thoughts and status quo of the people have been and
continually are being changed and challenged due the mass spread of American goods and ideas. The
American national culture largely revolves around the wants, needs and goals of the individual. As the
one of the greatest superpowers of the time, its influence on the global community towards the focus
on the individual is nothing short of inevitable. The movies, clothing and new age mentality of

The emptiness started hemming in me (Five Seasons 33)
Nadia feels the strain in her marriage due to her husband s greed and capitalist ideals. His sole goal
through out the novel is to be in competition with his brother. The belief that individualism is the key
to having success in the business world dominates her husband. Individualism removes one from the
society as whole and focus on ones own goals and ideals rather than the greater good of the society,
which is the traditional manner of the Arab and Muslim societies. This new practice of removing
oneself from the community unfavorably affects the societal mores Nadia tries to adhere to. She wants
to be a dutiful wife and desperately clings to the tradition of ...that Bedouin woman long ago, whose
advice to her daughters has been passed down through generations of women... Do whatever he tells
you. Keep all his secrets. Let him only find the purest fragrance on you (33)
The treatment she receives from Ihsan sparks feelings in Nadia that have strong feminist connotations.

Steroids in Baseball The game of Baseball is an American pastime. During the late 19th century and
early 20th century it was the most widely played sport in the country. Baseball back then was what
video games and televisions is to us now. Throughout the years baseball has changed in some good
ways and in some bad ways. The integrity of the game has been changed in a bad way by steroids.
Steroids is what makes the game today so much different than it was back then. Of course steroids
have been a controversy in this game for a long time but not to the extent it is right now in the late 90s
, and 2000s. The punishments that they give right now for steroid use is ... Show more content on

Not only are these players, who use steroids and get caught , not able to play the game they love, but
will lose out on a lot of money that they could be making during the games that they miss. Alex
Rodriguez is a great example of financial punishment for steroid use. The suspension would be the
longest non lifetime ban in Major league history and would cost Mr. Rodriguez more than 31 million
in loss salary (Costa,Brian). The MLB has announced that it is going to enhance its testing policy and
its punishments for using steroids or any other performance enhancing drugs. The enhanced testing
procedure will include a lot more random in season tests. The number of urine tests will more than
double. In the enhanced punishments there are at most three violations. A first time violation at the
joint drug program will now result in an unpaid 80 game suspension, increased from 50 games.
(Calcaterra,Craig). The second violation will result in an unpaid 162 game suspension rather than a
100 game. The third and final violation will result in a permanent suspension from baseball. Players
want a fair and clean game, that is why they pushed for better testing and a lot more testing. The MLB
commissioner, Bud Selig, was very pleased when the players pushed for stricter policies. Baseball has
had its fair share of scandals. For example, baseballs first commissioner, Kennesaw Landis, was
brought on to deal with the Black Sox scandal.

Careless Driving Definition
Careless driving is a statutory offense in many states. It is usually defined as a careless disregard for
the rules of the road, or driving without due caution. Careless driving can include a wide range of
conduct that may be accidental or unintended, but nevertheless present a danger to drivers and
pedestrians. There are several types of careless driving including: speeding, failing to use signals,
disobeying traffic signs and signals, drifting into another lane, distracted driving (such as eating or
applying make up while driving), and cell phone use while driving. Careless driving will result in a
traffic citation, a fine, and other types of punishment such as traffic school or community service; and
in some cases it will lead to death. Careless driving is closely related to reckless driving, though it can
be a very different offense depending on the state. As mentioned, careless driving is basically driving
without the proper caution. On the other hand, reckless driving is usually defined as a wanton
disregard for traffic laws. This is a much higher standard than careless driving, as wanton disregard, or
recklessness, requires that the person deliberately disobeyed traffic laws. An example of reckless
driving is when a person is deliberately running traffic lights because they are racing with another
driver. Here, the person is purposely breaking the law, which may be considered wanton disregard.
Thus, it is common for reckless driving charges to be reduced to

Trisha Brown Research Paper
Trisha Brown was born in Aberdeen, Washington on November 25th, 1936 and received her B.A.
degree in dance from Mills College in 1958. She later received a D.F.A. from Bates College in 2000.
For many summers, she studied with Louis Horst at the American Dance Festival, which was then
held at Connecticut College.
Trisha moved to New York City to study composition with Robert Dunn, who had taught a class at
Merce Cunningham s studio. This studio was based on John Cage s theories of chance. Brown rejected
aspects of it but also maintained great admiration for him and his work. In 1961 she trained with
dancer Anna Halprin and became a founding member of the avant garde Judson Dance Theater in
1962. There she worked with experimental dancers Steve Paxton, Twyla Tharp, Lucinda Childs,
Yvonne Rainer, and David Gordon. In the late 1960s, Brown created her own works which attempted
to defy gravity using equipment such as harnesses and ropes, which allowed dancers to walk on or
down walls to experiment with the dynamics of stability. These equipment pieces were the first dances
to comprise a distinct series in what would become a working method for her as she went on to create
various cycles of dances throughout her career.
In 1970, Brown cofounded the Grand Union, which was an experimental dance collective, and then

Microlite Case Study
Case Study Microlite S.A.: The Pan Orient Decision Abstract Microlite S.A. which is located in Brazil
was the largest producer of batteries in South America with a mighty 55% share of the Brazilian
battery market. Top Management had decided to shut down all but one out of three of the dry cell
battery factories in Guarulhos. This opened up the chance for Luiz Pinto, manager of Microlite s
battery factory in Jaboatão, to take over this market share and do further investments in his company.
This report is going to describe three basic different proceedings on how he can increase his
production. Take over the old machines from the factories in Guarulhos, invest in new machines from
Pan Orient or come up with new ideas how the current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second phase is dedicated to a step by step improvement. This improvement needs to be done
anyway and during this phase we gain time to educate the people better, so that they could run the Pan
Orient machine and that they have a chance to find new jobs if the new machine arrives. The main
idea of this phase is to convert the production line from a pure batch oriented to a more JIT process.
This would help us to reduce downtime and increase quality, with the longer term objective that the
quality of the batteries increases so much, that we would even be able to eliminate the final electrical
output test. However, this goal is very challenging and we might fail. Therefore we created the third
phase. The third phase, which would come into play approximately one year after starting phase II,
would be dedicated to acquire the Pan Orient machine, or whatever machine would satisfy our need at
that time. With this machine and the improvements we did so far, we would be definitively able to
eliminate the battery testing loop, resulting in a payback of about 2.9 years of this machine.
Furthermore, we could fight the increasing competition more efficiently, which we expect in 1995
when the import taxes drop. We think that we found a good mixture of different approaches to
overcome the under capacity of Joboatão and are well prepared for the future competitions and
demands. Furthermore this approach enables us to

With regards to short term solvency Microline appears to be strong. Their current ratio rose from .94
in 2010 to 1.27 in 2011. Their quick ratio also rose from .52 in 2010 to .75 in 2011. The catalyst to this
increase comes mainly from an increase in assets and not a decrease in liabilities. A potential reason
for this increase could be due to the fact that Microline signed a ten year note with a debt covenant
stating that the company needed to maintain a current ratio of 1or the note will mature. This could
have led the company to increase their account receivables and inventory in order to bump up their
assets to meet the debt covenant. There interest coverage increased from 2010 to 2011 from 3.8 in
2010 to 5.75 in 2011. This shows an increase in solvency where the firm can cover the interest on it
loans 5.75 times. However, their solvency in terms of interest coverage comes into question as their
short term equities account for $2500 which is not a reflection of consistent cash flow generated from
sales. Without the presence of short term equities Microlines interest coverage actually falls from 3.8
in 2010 to 3.25 in 2011.
The long term solvency of Microline in is question as the company recently issued a long term note
and reclassified a short term note to long term which accounted for $7000. The direct result of this
shows an increase in the total debt from 47% in

Compare and Contrast
Scores of consumers are discussing the two well known reading tablets called the Kindle Fire and the
Nook Tablet. Shoppers are trying to determine which e reader offers the best quality and features.
After conducting an objective study, considerable elements were accurately established in relation to
these products. The Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablet have many similarities; however, they show
noticeable differences within the content, ease of use, battery life, and storage.
The greatest difference between these two products is in relation to content. The Kindle Fire has a

The Kindle Fire offers 8 GB of internal memory. After it is configured, the Kindle Fire is shown to
have 6GB for buyers to maneuver and stage manage as they desire. In addition, the Kindle Fire
provides a handy online tool labeled as Cloud Storage which allows unlimited storing capabilities to
Kindle and Amazon users. In contrast, the Nook Tablet advertises 32 GB of internal storage but after a
full review of the Nook Tablet, only a lone gigabyte is available for optimal use; the other 12 GB are
set aside for content which can only be purchased from Barnes and Nobles stores (Johnston, 2011).
However, the Nook Tablet gains some position for having an (empty) micro SD card slot available for
its users. After weighing up the difference between the storage within these gadgets (coming in their
original form) the Nook Tablet s storage appears to be somewhat deceptive (Moz, 2011).
In terms of deception the storage wasn t the only feature that misled buyers of the Nook Tablet and
Kindle Fire. After a careful examination of the battery function on either tablet, the battery life
duration for each e reader had to be determined by more than one factor. The Nook Tablet offers nine
full hours of battery use. The Kindle Fire advertises seven and a half hours of battery life when in
reality it provides no more than six full hours (Johnston, 2011). The Kindle Fire s battery lasts longer

This is not a bad sign of financial stability for the reasons previously mentioned. Since a not for profit
organization is expected to have a negative change in net assets, it could be argued that Lee College
did live within its means.
The program expense ratio is a measure of a not for profit organization s ability to utilize resources for
the fulfillment of its mission, and it is considered to be of great interest for evaluating the
organization. It is calculated by dividing program service expenses by the total expenses. For Lee
College, the program service expense of totals $14,450,000, and total expenses are $18,175,000.
Therefore, the equation would be 14,450,000 / 18,175,000 = 0.795 = 80%. The Better Business
Bureau recommends a minimum ratio of 60% (Copley, 2015), so Lee College is in good standing with
its ratio of 80%. Based on these observations, Lee College is operating above standards for a not for
profit organization, and would be considered to be financially healthy.

Terminology In Healthcare
The process of improvements in healthcare for the United States has been a continuous battle with

technology resources to develop and maintain an efficient electronic health record. Therefore, one of
the major benefits of having an electronic health records would be the advance interoperability to

Charles Darwin Natural Selection
From the beginning of Charles Darwin s writing of the Natural Selection; or The Survival of the
Fittest, as edited by Joseph Pendleton, we find that he feels that nothing holds a light to as genius as
the works of natural selection when he verbalized, Can we wonder, then, that nature s productions
should be far truer in character than man s productions; that they should be infinitely better adapted to
the most complex conditions of life..., (Darwin 42). Being more of a verbal expression than a

Almost All Nighter Research Paper
The Almost All Nighter We lay in a carpet of pubescent, pimply teenagers. They re all sleeping
peacefully with smiles smeared on their faces, remembering the pleasant pain that twisted their
tummies when they laughed together. Everyone seems to sigh and snore in synchrony as if sleeping is
some sort of art. Some snoozing teens are on top of each other and others lie curled comfortably in
corners. Friends use each other as pillows and share blankets with each other. Every once in a while
someone will shift as if they are startled, but they are just moving closer to the welcoming warmth of
another sleeping soul. A computer projects a movie, Inception onto the wall in front of the kids
sequestered inside sleeping bags. It s reflection dances on their shiny faces and watercolors the walls

Case Study of Toshiba Accounting Scandal
Facts
Toshiba s history dates back to 1875 in Japan. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015,
Toshiba s net worldwide sales were greater than $63 billion and employed more than 200,000 people
worldwide (Carpenter, 2015). In April of 2015, the company came forth and made an announcement
that it was having accounting problems. However, the severity of the scandal became known early in
September 2015 (Addady, 2015). The shares took a dive after the April announcement. In July 2015,
CEO Hisao Tanaka resigned after facing this accounting scandal and was a direct link to $1.2 billion
in overstated profits (Carpenter, 2015). Toshiba s first remedy was a management change. The
company overstated its earnings close to $2 billion over the past seven years (Addady, 2015).
The investigation panel report revealed that the external auditors failed to discover the inappropriate
accounting issues, the involvement of two former CEOs, Atsutoshi Nishida (2005
2009) and Norio Sasaki

Old Ben And Fox Hunt Comparison Essay
Some things can be very similar, but also very different. For example, stories can be different. They
have different plots and different authors, but they can also have similar elements and plot ideas. Some
examples of that in a story could be that a character makes a friend, or attempts to achieve a goal. In
this essay, I will be comparing and contrasting Old Ben and Fox Hunt , two stories with different plots
and similar elements. While some similarities are evident between Old Ben and Fox Hunt , the
differences are also distinct.
There are many similarities between Old Ben and Fox Hunt . One of them is the use of foreshadowing
in both narratives. Foreshadowing is when there are indications throughout the text that hint at events
to come. In Old Ben , it is foreshadowed that the snake will die in the end. In Fox Hunt , it is
foreshadowed that Lee is the fox spirit. Another similarity is that the two stories both have main
characters that are either animals, or have animal characteristics, such as Ben from Old Ben , who is a
snake, and Andy, from Fox Hunt , who is part fox. A closing similarity is that both of the stories use
narrative structure. Narrative structure is when a narrative is arranged in chronological order. Looking
at these examples, we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, there are also distinct differences. One of those differences is Fox Hunt using flashbacks
to tell a story. Flashbacks inform you of events that happened in the past. Old Ben does not use any
flashbacks at all. A second difference is that Old Ben transpires over a longer period of time; months
pass during the story. In Fox Hunt , the story only takes place over a few weeks. A concluding
difference is that Fox Hunt uses fantasy ideas, such as fox spirits, while Old Ben does not, and only
uses real life ideas. Therefore, Old Ben and Fox Hunt are quite different in many

Solomon Scale Model Essay
In my model, assessment of athletes, the coaches, and the parents is in constant motion. First, the
coach and consultant have to establish a trustworthy relationship and then as time progresses, each
assessment is more accurate and reliable.
At the beginning, middle, and end of the session, I suggest the coach and consultant use the Solomon
Expectancy Sources Scale to assess the athletes. Along with the knowledge they know from their
sound relationship with each athlete, the coach and consultant can make a more accurate subjective
assessment of each athlete.
The Solomon Scale is an assessment that allows one to asses 30 attributes (such as self discipline, love
of sport, communications, leadership qualities, handling pressure, confidence levels, athleticism,
reaction time, mental maturity, role acceptance, team chemistry, being a hard worker, and receptivity

their best effort with a total focus on the moment to conduct the process? If there is a difference

How Does Pecola Affect Society
Toni Morrison s novel The Bluest Eyes is about a young adolescent girl named Pecola who made no
attempt to fight back against those who mocked her or damaged her body and mentality. Pecola s
peculiarness caused the people around her to become aware of her difference, which made them hate
her for the ugliness that reflected in themselves. My opinion of this novel is that Morrison inserted a
society where they used Pecola as a punching bag, and a scapegoat to illuminate the superficialness of
perceived beauty in the novel. I think Morrison was trying to highlight how beauty and love can go
hand in hand; but the two factors can be destructive as well if one has neither of them. If someone is
beautiful, then they will be loved more than a less beautiful person Pecola is considered ugly and she
wants to look like talented and beautiful Shirley Temple who is an idol among society. Pecola s life
was also lacking love as it did beauty her household had no time for affection, and her parents were
bitter and engrossed in their own reality. The lack of love and lack of beauty hurt Pecola along with
the mockery and damage she received from society caused her to isolate herself by becoming insane
so she could not be hurt ever again. In the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

feel the powerful yet sorrowful desire coming from them. Claudia and Frieda were really the only two

The Sacrament Of Baptism And Communion
THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM AND COMMUNION
The Sacrament of Baptism is a gift of grace that brings us into union with God, church, and the
Christian community. God s plan since the foundation of the of the earth was to enter into a covenant
relationship with all inhabitants, in order to bless them. The New Testament Covenant is established
through Jesus Christ and consist of baptism by water and the spirit. Mark 16:16, the one who believes
and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned (NIV). By being
obedient to Christ, we become participants in this sacred act of Baptism. Gayle Carlton Felton wrote a
book, By Water And The Spirit, and she shares about the tradition of Baptism in the United Methodist
Church. John Wesley plays a major role in helping shape the doctrine of The United Methodist
Church.
The United Methodist Church is diverse in the way it offers the Sacramental Baptism; Candidates or
their parents have the choice of sprinkling, pouring, or immersion, and pastors and congregations
should be prepared to honor the requests for baptism in any of these modes (Committee 1992, p. 81).
It is important for individuals to understand the meaning of each mode. Immersion symbolizes the
burial and resurrection with Christ, and being born of a new water and the spirit. Pouring or sprinkling
water on the head signifies pouring out of the Holy Spirit. Pastors should be able to share each mode
with the candidates. The United Methodist

Calypso Borealis And I Wondered Lonely As A Cloud
Where can happiness be found in the world? John Muir answers this question in his essay The
Calypso Borealis, and William Wordsworth answers this in his poem I Wondered Lonely as a Cloud.
They both describe the positive relationship that they have with nature, and how happy nature makes
them. But the literary devices they use to express their relationships with nature are slightly different.
Both John Muir in The Calypso Borealis and William Wordsworth in I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud
use positive connotations of words and personification to express their relationships with nature, but
Muir also uses specific imagery to show how he appreciates nature, whereas Wordsworth uses unique
syntax to help show how joyful nature makes him.

In his essay, Muir describes the Calypso Borealis flower he found one day while exploring. He uses
mostly positive connotations and imagery to describe the flower: I found beautiful Calypso on the
mossy bank of a stream... its small white bulb had found a soft nest... and made the impression of the
utmost simple purity like a snowflower. This description of Calypso flower creates a clear picture for
the reader of what the Calypso flower looks like, while still creating a joyful tone. Muir does this by
using words and phrases with positive connotations, such as beautiful, soft nest, and purity. These
descriptions show how Muir views nature with optimism and joy, and finds beauty in nature. Muir
goes on to describe how his meeting with Calypso made a larger impression on him than any meeting
with another human, even though he met Calypso forty five years before writing the essay. Muir uses
personification in his description to show how he met the Calypso flower. He also repeatedly refers to
the flower as Calypso throughout the essay, as if the flower is a person named Calypso, which shows
how this flower meant as much to him or more than any person. Moreover, Muir is a naturalist writer,
and he studied how all living things are connected. When he is

Recent Advances in the Study of Protein Misfolding Diseases
Protein misfolding diseases include highly debilitating degenerative disorders like Alzheimer s and
Parkinson s diseases. The healthcare and financial burden linked to these pathologies has been steadily
increasing over the past decade. Actually, there is currently no efficient treatment for misfolding
diseases as well as no reliable early diagnostic techniques for them, in most cases. It is known that, in
many cases, the cytotoxic effect of misfolded proteins is exerted through their self assembly into
amyloid like protein aggregates. Unfortunately, the mechanisms responsible for the toxicity of protein
aggregates are still not completely understood. The number of protein targets whose misfolding and
aggregation is being shown to be associated with the onset of pathologic conditions is constantly
increasing. Since the development of degenerative disorders is expected to increase at a similar rate
than life expectancy, it is likely that in the years to come misfolding diseases would become more
common and prevalent than previously thought. We should be prepared to deal with such a dramatic
scenario and join research efforts to understand the molecular mechanism that underlie these
devastating disorders without further delay. In this book, we highlight recent advances in the study of
protein misfolding disorders and their protein targets, but we also describe how different organisms
exploit the amyloid fold for the functional and dynamic assembly of biological structures.

happening in middle childhood development. This paper will examine what these changes affect the
child s ability to function in society. This analysis will focus on the normal course of development in
middle childhood as it applies to the theorist Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Stages and then give
examples of what may happen if the developments are not carried out.

Studies show that childhood injuries and deaths occur right in their home (Morrongiello, Corbett,
McCourt, Johnston, 2006). In the United States, it is estimated that 1 in 4 children will experience an
injury that will need medical attention (Morrongiello, Corbett, McCourt, Johnston, 2006). Erikson s
psychosocial theory is an excellent way to better understand why a child will get injured by providing
a different perspective (Ginsburg, 1992). This will lead to more extensive research on childhood
injuries (Ginsburg, 1992).
Social skills
If the child is unable to play with others, participate in school activities and demonstrate proper social
behavior. The parents or the teacher should intervene to ask the child why they are not participating.
Failure to participate in these developmental activities could be a sign of low self esteem, depression,
abuse and being bullied by others.
The child develops a sense of pride and competence in new skills they learn (Huffman, Younger,
Vanston, 2010). For example, this accomplished by being confident that they score a goal when they
play soccer, spelling a word correctly or putting shape blocks in the correct place. A sense of pride
may be felt when they contribute to society (Huffman, Younger, Vanston, 2010). Opening a door for
others, fundraising by selling chocolate bars, volunteering in the community are some examples of
how the child can feel this pride. The

the effect it will have upon the competence of the devolved Scottish government and its relationship
with the UK.
Treaties, regulations and directives make up the European Union (EU) law. They have a direct effect
which means that they are directly implemented in United Kingdom(UK) law. However, a Directive is
binding to the result to be achieved, upon each member state to which it is addressed, but shall leave
to the national authorities the choice of form and methods . The national law is legislated in a way that

The charter was still carrying out its main role of reaffirming rights, but the UK did not allow it to go
beyond this power.
Leaving the EU would mean that the charter would no longer apply in the UK, as a result a lot of our
rights such as environmental protection, data protection etc would be lost. Also, EU regulations and
any future or unimplemented legislation cannot be relied upon in UK courts. Therefore, any future
improvements of fundamental rights protection will cease to apply in the UK
As the UK has now left the EU the most important question is what will happen to our rights. There is
great uncertainty about this as it depends upon what path the UK takes and what sort of contact it
maintains with the EU. For example, if it joins the European Economic Area (EEA) then the EU
fundamental rights law will still apply, this is because the European Free Trade Association has held
that the provisions of the EEA agreement are to be interpreted in the light of EU law. Additionally, the
remedies available under the EU law are wider than those under the HRA 1998 because of the
supremacy principle. The UK will have civil and political rights, but it will lose a wide range of rights
and there will be less remedial options for violations. The Human Rights Centre at the University of

Henry David Thoreau Analysis
Henry David Thoreau, a nineteenth century writer, philosopher, and abolitionist, establishes himself as
an outsider, a passionate rebel against the status quo, in a passage from Walden. He writes to explain
why he went into the woods to live and left behind what most people would consider civilization.
Especially for an audience of contemporaries in the 1850s, before the Civil War, his choice to live in
the woods would have been outrageous even revolutionary. Even today, his choice to live in a small
cabin in the woods would be considered counter to the status quo, so the modern audience is also
intrigued by his explanation. His language and method of presenting his ideas create an argument
between civilization and real life, and it is clear that he values real life in the woods over what most
people would consider civilization. He pits civilization against life throughout, though he hides the
reference to civilization behind a contrast to life in the words not life, and he suggests that living in
civilization would be a resignation. He counters this with many references to life (nouns) and live and
living (verbs), such as to live deliberately, facts of life, I had not lived, wish to live, not life, living is
so dear, live deep, marrow of life, to live so sturdily. The paragraph is bursting with life references,
and we immediately discern the urgency of his desire. We learn the temperament of the man through
this intensity. The contrast between life and not life is

US Influence On Haiti
Article 1 The United States seems to have occupied Haiti and taken it upon themselves to almost
dictate their way of living for what they seem to deem as better for the Haitians. The first order, after
having fought off rebels who intended to capture the city for themselves, was to oversee the elections.
After said elections the preferred candidate for the U.S., Sudre Dartigurnave, won. He was elected on
August the 12th and a little over a month later, on September 15th, a treaty was signed that ensured
the U.S. domination of Haiti. Marines and navy corps played a crucial part in the occupation of Haiti,
with many of them assuming positions such as Engineer of Haiti (Navy Civil Engineer Captain Ernest

This instability most likely came from the seven presidents assassinated or overthrown in between the
years 1911 1915. In 1914, the Wilson administration sent marines to withdraw $500,000 from the
Haitian National Bank in December 1914 to safe keep in New York, succeeding in giving the U.S.
control over the bank. When President Jean Vilbrun Guillaume Sam was assassinated in 1915,
President Wilson sent U.S marines in order to prevent anarchy in the quickly growing unstable Haiti.
The reality is that they were sent in order to prevent possible German invasion. The invasion led to the
Haitian American Treaty of 1915 with the articles creating a Haitian gedarmerie (basically a military
force made of Americans and Haitians). The U.S succeeded in gaining complete control of Haitian
finances and the right to intervene in Haiti whenever they deemed it necessary. They later forced an

The Concept of Power Essay
The concept of power is present within various realms of all organizations. Power, however, is not
something that should necessarily be looked at negatively. There are justifiable types of power that
may be important to criminal justice organizations. The main role of power in criminal justice
administration should be to gain compliance from subordinates of all types, and turn that power over
time into acceptable forms of authority (Stojkovic et al., 2008). It is for this reason that power is an
important attribute in criminal justice agencies. It is important as a criminal justice manager, and
agency as a whole, to have legitimate power. Power that is not coercive and works for the good of the
organization is beneficial in gathering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essay 2: Max Weber s study of authority gave birth to his division and classification of three types of
authority. These classifications of authority are often used in various roles in criminal justice
administrations. While Weber believed that power and authority are decidedly different concepts, the
two can be used in conjunction, and often are used for categorization within criminal justice agencies.
Traditional, charismatic, and legal authorities are all well defined in the use of authority by criminal
justice administrations. Traditional authority is leadership that is based on the historical customs of a
society or group. Within an organization, traditional authority is based on the precedented methods of
operation that have changed little over time (Stojkovic et al., 2008). In relation to the criminal justice
administration, one may view traditional authority in the form of commanding power of a warden
within a corrections system. The warden is the head of the hierarchy and operates simply in the way
that a warden always has operated. In respect to traditional authority, things do not change because
procedures are based on customs and merely continue as they always have. Weber s second type of
influence is charismatic authority. Charismatic authority is characterized by a leader with rare personal
features that attract others to them. Charismatic leaders have qualities that are powerful and
challenging

  • 2. Aramark Personal Statement Up until recently I had been pursuing a Bachelor s Degree in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Meeting and Event Planning. As a senior noncommissioned officer (NCO) I have had multiple opportunities to plan, coordinate, and execute numerous military ceremonies, receptions, and specialty events for high ranking Officers and NCO. Through these events I realized I had a special talent I could use outside of the Army in the civilian workforce. I have spent considerable time researching the various companies within the hospitality industry looking for potential jobs that would allow me to build a substantial knowledge base of my chosen profession. I chose Aramark due to their wide variety of services and I would be able to sharpen my leadership and managerial skills in the civilian market. Aramark Corporation is one of the oldest and most experienced companies providing a broad spectrum of customer services across food, facilities, and uniform services, wherever people work, play, learn and recover (About us, n.d.). Davre Davidson started this company by selling peanuts out of the back of his Dodge pick up. Eventually named the Davidson Brothers Inc. they merged with Automatic Retailers Merchandizing Company and formed the Automatic Retailers of America (ARA). In 1961, ARA had vending machines sales that exceeded $65 million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Horror Movies As A Child s Play One Or Bride Of Chucky The horror movie that stands out to me was not the first that I have seen. Ever since I was roughly four had been watching real life crime shows with my father and murder mysteries, so my taste in movies and shows started from there. I had watched horror movies before, but the series that I distinctly remember is Chucky. When I was in the third grade my father said that I could watch the Chucky movies with him, to this day it is my favorite movie series and to this day if you bring it up my mother gets angry. The plot line in Chucky is that a serial strangler by the name of Charles Lee Ray is caught and right before he dies passes his soul into the body of a doll. Then the doll is given to a little boy and if you haven t seen the movie you can assume what happens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are 6 movies in the Chucky series. Which personally, I believe that either Child s play 1, or Bride of Chucky is the best. Although I have watched other horror movies that I am in love with since the first time that I watched chucky nothing can take it s place. Everytime I watch Chucky I m reminded of the first time that I ever genuinely enjoyed horror movies and it sparked my interest. After that I started asking to view more movies, looking them up and taking an interest in the horror genre. This movie series also reminds me of being a child and watching movies with my dad and ... The second violation will result in an unpaid 162 game suspension rather than a 100 game. The third and final violation will result in a permanent suspension from baseball. Players want a fair and clean game, that is why they pushed for better testing and a lot more testing. The MLB commissioner, Bud Selig, was very pleased when the players pushed for stricter policies. There are several types of careless driving including: speeding, failing to use signals, disobeying traffic signs and signals, drifting into another lane, distracted driving (such as eating or applying make up while driving), and cell phone use while driving. Careless driving will result in a traffic citation, a fine, and other types of punishment such as traffic school or community service; and in some cases it will lead to death. Careless driving is closely related to reckless driving, though it can be a very different offense depending on the state. As mentioned, careless driving is basically driving without the proper caution. On the other hand, reckless driving is usually defined as a wanton disregard for traffic laws. This is a much higher standard than careless driving, as wanton disregard, or recklessness, requires that the person deliberately disobeyed traffic laws. An example of reckless driving is when a person is deliberately running traffic lights because they are racing with another driver. Here, the person is purposely breaking the law, which may be considered wanton disregard. Thus, it is common for reckless driving charges to be reduced to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trisha moved to New York City to study composition with Robert Dunn, who had taught a class at Merce Cunningham s studio. This studio was based on John Cage s theories of chance. Brown rejected aspects of it but also maintained great admiration for him and his work. In 1961 she trained with dancer Anna Halprin and became a founding member of the avant garde Judson Dance Theater in 1962. There she worked with experimental dancers Steve Paxton, Twyla Tharp, Lucinda Childs, Yvonne Rainer, and David Gordon. In the late 1960s, Brown created her own works which attempted to defy gravity using equipment such as harnesses and ropes, which allowed dancers to walk on or down walls to experiment with the dynamics of stability. These equipment pieces were the first dances to comprise a distinct series in what would become a working method for her as she went on to create various cycles of dances throughout her career. Top Management had decided to shut down all but one out of three of the dry cell battery factories in Guarulhos. This opened up the chance for Luiz Pinto, manager of Microlite s battery factory in Jaboatão, to take over this market share and do further investments in his company. The second phase is dedicated to a step by step improvement. This improvement needs to be done anyway and during this phase we gain time to educate the people better, so that they could run the Pan Orient machine and that they have a chance to find new jobs if the new machine arrives. The main idea of this phase is to convert the production line from a pure batch oriented to a more JIT process. This would help us to reduce downtime and increase quality, with the longer term objective that the quality of the batteries increases so much, that we would even be able to eliminate the final electrical output test. However, this goal is very challenging and we might fail. Therefore we created the third phase. The third phase, which would come into play approximately one year after starting phase II, would be dedicated to acquire the Pan Orient machine, or whatever machine would satisfy our need at that time. With this machine and the improvements we did so far, we would be definitively able to eliminate the battery testing loop, resulting in a payback of about 2.9 years of this machine. The catalyst to this increase comes mainly from an increase in assets and not a decrease in liabilities. A potential reason for this increase could be due to the fact that Microline signed a ten year note with a debt covenant stating that the company needed to maintain a current ratio of 1or the note will mature. This could have led the company to increase their account receivables and inventory in order to bump up their assets to meet the debt covenant. There interest coverage increased from 2010 to 2011 from 3.8 in 2010 to 5.75 in 2011. This shows an increase in solvency where the firm can cover the interest on it loans 5.75 times. However, their solvency in terms of interest coverage comes into question as their short term equities account for $2500 which is not a reflection of consistent cash flow generated from sales. Without the presence of short term equities Microlines interest coverage actually falls from 3.8 in 2010 to 3.25 in 2011. This is not a bad sign of financial stability for the reasons previously mentioned. Since a not for profit organization is expected to have a negative change in net assets, it could be argued that Lee College did live within its means. The program expense ratio is a measure of a not for profit organization s ability to utilize resources for the fulfillment of its mission, and it is considered to be of great interest for evaluating the organization. It is calculated by dividing program service expenses by the total expenses. For Lee College, the program service expense of totals $14,450,000, and total expenses are $18,175,000. Therefore, the equation would be 14,450,000 / 18,175,000 = 0.795 = 80%. The Better Business Bureau recommends a minimum ratio of 60% (Copley, 2015), so Lee College is in good standing with its ratio of 80%. Some examples of that in a story could be that a character makes a friend, or attempts to achieve a goal. In this essay, I will be comparing and contrasting Old Ben and Fox Hunt , two stories with different plots and similar elements. While some similarities are evident between Old Ben and Fox Hunt , the differences are also distinct. There are many similarities between Old Ben and Fox Hunt . In Old Ben , it is foreshadowed that the snake will die in the end. In Fox Hunt , it is foreshadowed that Lee is the fox spirit. Another similarity is that the two stories both have main characters that are either animals, or have animal characteristics, such as Ben from Old Ben , who is a snake, and Andy, from Fox Hunt , who is part fox. My opinion of this novel is that Morrison inserted a society where they used Pecola as a punching bag, and a scapegoat to illuminate the superficialness of perceived beauty in the novel. The New Testament Covenant is established through Jesus Christ and consist of baptism by water and the spirit. John Wesley plays a major role in helping shape the doctrine of The United Methodist Church. The United Methodist Church is diverse in the way it offers the Sacramental Baptism; Candidates or their parents have the choice of sprinkling, pouring, or immersion, and pastors and congregations should be prepared to honor the requests for baptism in any of these modes (Committee 1992, p. 81). Both John Muir in The Calypso Borealis and William Wordsworth in I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud use positive connotations of words and personification to express their relationships with nature, but Muir also uses specific imagery to show how he appreciates nature, whereas Wordsworth uses unique syntax to help show how joyful nature makes him. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his essay, Muir describes the Calypso Borealis flower he found one day while exploring. He uses mostly positive connotations and imagery to describe the flower: I found beautiful Calypso on the mossy bank of a stream... its small white bulb had found a soft nest... and made the impression of the utmost simple purity like a snowflower. This description of Calypso flower creates a clear picture for the reader of what the Calypso flower looks like, while still creating a joyful tone. Muir does this by using words and phrases with positive connotations, such as beautiful, soft nest, and purity. These descriptions show how Muir views nature with optimism and joy, and finds beauty in nature. Muir goes on to describe how his meeting with Calypso made a larger impression on him than any meeting with another human, even though he met Calypso forty five years before writing the essay. Muir uses personification in his description to show how he met the Calypso flower. He also repeatedly refers to the flower as Calypso throughout the essay, as if the flower is a person named Calypso, which shows how this flower meant as much to him or more than any person. Moreover, Muir is a naturalist writer, and he studied how all living things are connected. When he is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. King Lear Power is the ability to manipulate and control whatever one desires; to do what one pleases to do without answering to authority. The power that corrupts the characters plays an extensive role throughout Shakespeare s play, King Lear. Goneril and Regan are corrupted by the power that Lear offers them. Edmund s corruption comes from the trust of his father. Absolute power corrupts absolutely with the characters, because once have full control, they are so cold that they will do anything to keep the power – or to gain more. The quest for power corrupts, but when absolute power is attained, treachery and deceit is the only path to take. The power that Lear gives to Goneril and Regan makes them treacherous and deceitful. • 31. Recent Advances in the Study of Protein Misfolding Diseases Protein misfolding diseases include highly debilitating degenerative disorders like Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases. The healthcare and financial burden linked to these pathologies has been steadily increasing over the past decade. Actually, there is currently no efficient treatment for misfolding diseases as well as no reliable early diagnostic techniques for them, in most cases. It is known that, in many cases, the cytotoxic effect of misfolded proteins is exerted through their self assembly into amyloid like protein aggregates. Unfortunately, the mechanisms responsible for the toxicity of protein aggregates are still not completely understood. The number of protein targets whose misfolding and aggregation is being shown to be associated with the onset of pathologic conditions is constantly increasing. Since the development of degenerative disorders is expected to increase at a similar rate than life expectancy, it is likely that in the years to come misfolding diseases would become more common and prevalent than previously thought. We should be prepared to deal with such a dramatic scenario and join research efforts to understand the molecular mechanism that underlie these devastating disorders without further delay. In this book, we highlight recent advances in the study of protein misfolding disorders and their protein targets, but we also describe how different organisms exploit the amyloid fold for the functional and dynamic assembly of biological structures. ... • 32. Erik Erikson’s Psychosocial Stages and Middle Childhood... At the age of 6 years old, a child would most likely experienced the school system which would include pre school and kindergarten. There are many physical, cognitive and social changes that are happening in middle childhood development. This paper will examine what these changes affect the child s ability to function in society. This analysis will focus on the normal course of development in middle childhood as it applies to the theorist Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Stages and then give examples of what may happen if the developments are not carried out. In middle childhood (aged 6 12), the child will experience the Industry vs. Inferiority stage. This is the fourth stage of Erikson s psychosocial stage. With the previous three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Studies show that childhood injuries and deaths occur right in their home (Morrongiello, Corbett, McCourt, Johnston, 2006). In the United States, it is estimated that 1 in 4 children will experience an injury that will need medical attention (Morrongiello, Corbett, McCourt, Johnston, 2006). Erikson s psychosocial theory is an excellent way to better understand why a child will get injured by providing a different perspective (Ginsburg, 1992). This will lead to more extensive research on childhood injuries (Ginsburg, 1992). Social skills If the child is unable to play with others, participate in school activities and demonstrate proper social behavior. The parents or the teacher should intervene to ask the child why they are not participating. Failure to participate in these developmental activities could be a sign of low self esteem, depression, abuse and being bullied by others. The child develops a sense of pride and competence in new skills they learn (Huffman, Younger, Vanston, 2010). For example, this accomplished by being confident that they score a goal when they play soccer, spelling a word correctly or putting shape blocks in the correct place. A sense of pride may be felt when they contribute to society (Huffman, Younger, Vanston, 2010). Opening a door for others, fundraising by selling chocolate bars, volunteering in the community are some examples of how the child can feel this pride. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. In This Essay, We Will Consider And Analyse The Effect In this essay, we will consider and analyse the effect of Brexit upon the rights of individuals as well as the effect it will have upon the competence of the devolved Scottish government and its relationship with the UK. Treaties, regulations and directives make up the European Union (EU) law. They have a direct effect which means that they are directly implemented in United Kingdom(UK) law. However, a Directive is binding to the result to be achieved, upon each member state to which it is addressed, but shall leave to the national authorities the choice of form and methods . The national law is legislated in a way that gives effect to the directive. As a result of Brexit treaties and regulations will no longer have effect in the UK, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The charter was still carrying out its main role of reaffirming rights, but the UK did not allow it to go beyond this power. Leaving the EU would mean that the charter would no longer apply in the UK, as a result a lot of our rights such as environmental protection, data protection etc would be lost. Also, EU regulations and any future or unimplemented legislation cannot be relied upon in UK courts. Therefore, any future improvements of fundamental rights protection will cease to apply in the UK As the UK has now left the EU the most important question is what will happen to our rights. There is great uncertainty about this as it depends upon what path the UK takes and what sort of contact it maintains with the EU. For example, if it joins the European Economic Area (EEA) then the EU fundamental rights law will still apply, this is because the European Free Trade Association has held that the provisions of the EEA agreement are to be interpreted in the light of EU law. Additionally, the remedies available under the EU law are wider than those under the HRA 1998 because of the supremacy principle. The UK will have civil and political rights, but it will lose a wide range of rights and there will be less remedial options for violations. The Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex ... • 36. Henry David Thoreau Analysis Henry David Thoreau, a nineteenth century writer, philosopher, and abolitionist, establishes himself as an outsider, a passionate rebel against the status quo, in a passage from Walden. He writes to explain why he went into the woods to live and left behind what most people would consider civilization. Especially for an audience of contemporaries in the 1850s, before the Civil War, his choice to live in the woods would have been outrageous even revolutionary. Even today, his choice to live in a small cabin in the woods would be considered counter to the status quo, so the modern audience is also intrigued by his explanation. His language and method of presenting his ideas create an argument between civilization and real life, and it is clear that he values real life in the woods over what most people would consider civilization. He pits civilization against life throughout, though he hides the reference to civilization behind a contrast to life in the words not life, and he suggests that living in civilization would be a resignation. He counters this with many references to life (nouns) and live and living (verbs), such as to live deliberately, facts of life, I had not lived, wish to live, not life, living is so dear, live deep, marrow of life, to live so sturdily. The paragraph is bursting with life references, and we immediately discern the urgency of his desire. We learn the temperament of the man through this intensity. US Influence On Haiti Article 1 The United States seems to have occupied Haiti and taken it upon themselves to almost dictate their way of living for what they seem to deem as better for the Haitians. The first order, after having fought off rebels who intended to capture the city for themselves, was to oversee the elections. After said elections the preferred candidate for the U.S., Sudre Dartigurnave, won. He was elected on August the 12th and a little over a month later, on September 15th, a treaty was signed that ensured the U.S. domination of Haiti. When President Jean Vilbrun Guillaume Sam was assassinated in 1915, President Wilson sent U.S marines in order to prevent anarchy in the quickly growing unstable Haiti. The reality is that they were sent in order to prevent possible German invasion. The invasion led to the Haitian American Treaty of 1915 with the articles creating a Haitian gedarmerie (basically a military force made of Americans and Haitians). • 38. The Concept of Power Essay The concept of power is present within various realms of all organizations. Power, however, is not something that should necessarily be looked at negatively. There are justifiable types of power that may be important to criminal justice organizations. The main role of power in criminal justice administration should be to gain compliance from subordinates of all types, and turn that power over time into acceptable forms of authority (Stojkovic et al., 2008). It is for this reason that power is an important attribute in criminal justice agencies. It is important as a criminal justice manager, and agency as a whole, to have legitimate power. Power that is not coercive and works for the good of the organization is beneficial in gathering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essay 2: Max Weber s study of authority gave birth to his division and classification of three types of authority. These classifications of authority are often used in various roles in criminal justice administrations. While Weber believed that power and authority are decidedly different concepts, the two can be used in conjunction, and often are used for categorization within criminal justice agencies. Traditional, charismatic, and legal authorities are all well defined in the use of authority by criminal justice administrations. Traditional authority is leadership that is based on the historical customs of a society or group. Within an organization, traditional authority is based on the precedented methods of operation that have changed little over time (Stojkovic et al., 2008). In relation to the criminal justice administration, one may view traditional authority in the form of commanding power of a warden within a corrections system. The warden is the head of the hierarchy and operates simply in the way that a warden always has operated. In respect to traditional authority, things do not change because procedures are based on customs and merely continue as they always have. Weber s second type of influence is charismatic authority. Charismatic authority is characterized by a leader with rare personal features that attract others to them. Charismatic leaders have qualities that are powerful and challenging ...
