1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
The overall topic of my senior project will revolve around teaching someone a new skill. I will be
teaching a student how to play the violin.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
My previous experience in this area of study is that I have played the violin ever since I was six, and I
love teaching children new skills. I have taken violin lessons before, which gives me a good
understanding of how they work. My previous experience in teachingincludes coaching young girls on
how to play softball and leading a Sunday school for little children.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I will connect this project to musical and elementary education.

2. 4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
First, I plan on talking with my facilitator to organize our meetings and to discuss working around our
schedules. My schedule is busy during the first few months of the year due to softball. Next, I plan on
organizing lesson plans so that I am well prepared to teach the student. Then I plan on keeping up my
skills by practicing the violin every day for 30 minutes. I will talk to my student to arrange the times
and dates for the lessons. I also plan on filming some of the lessons and the recital. I will teach for
about five months before I arrange a performance. Finally, I will organize a recital so that everyone
can see the progress of the student as well as my teaching. I have already found my student to teach.
My brother has taught him guitar, and he has had an interest in the violin. He has taken a few classes
to learn the very basics; however, he is still a beginner. The recital will most likely be held at my
house, and it would be open to the friends and family of the student, and my friends and family. My
product will be a video of the recital.
5) How is this projecta “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
This project should be challenging for me because transitioning the knowledge I have about playing
the violin to a student will not be an easy task.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
My estimated costs for this project is about twenty-five dollars and I will fund these costs from the
income that the student pays me to teach him.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I have chosen Amy Hanenburg to be my Project Facilitator.

Amy Hanenburg taught the children’s choir at Cherokee Presbyterian Church and also teaches children
to play the piano.
