In a first grade classroom, the teacher will teach students about onomatopoeia over the course of a week through various activities and technologies. Each day, students will start with a song about onomatopoeia to help them learn examples. They will be placed in groups based on their learning speed. To start, students will make posters and edit images featuring onomatopoeia. Throughout the week, students will use websites and materials like craft supplies and computers. The teacher will evaluate students each day and at the end to see if the objective of understanding onomatopoeia with 100% accuracy was achieved.

My first grade classroom has a total of 20 children. 9 are males and 11 are females. 6 are
African-American, 12 are Caucasian, and 2 are Hispanic. 2 students have ADHD and 1 student is
paralyzed from the waist down.
A: In my first grade classroom, there are 20 students. Considering this is first grade, the students’
ages will be between 6 and 8. I will be teaching 9 boys and 11 girls. 12 of the students are
Caucasian, 6 African-American, and 2 Hispanic. 2 of the students in my classroom have mild
ADHD and one is paralyzed from the waist down. I will not start my activity until the second
month of school so I am able to get to know my students before I begin a project with them. It is
important for me to get a better look at how they learn, what helps them learn, and what sets
them off. Knowing these qualities will make for a better learning environment as well as a better
teaching environment. Given the chance to get to know the students before teaching them, I will
try multiple different approaches to teaching to get a better understanding of where they stand as
far as grade-wise. Before I start my project, I will analyze my students to find out at what speed
they learn which I will then use to group them with peers who learn at, or close to, the same
speed as them. This will help the students succeed in the objective of the project.
S: My students will learn the meaning of onomatopoeia through a variety of technologies. They
will also get into groups. Each group will have their own project and assignments to work on
with each other. My students will begin with simple projects such as making posters and editing
images. Starting at the beginning of the week, my students will describe what onomatopoeia is,
as well as give examples of sound words, on their own with no notes. They will do this by
coming up to me individually and answering my questions, such as: What is onomatopoeia?
What are 3 examples of onomatopoeia? Give me a sentence using onomatopoeia. They will be
able to answer these questions with 100% accuracy by the end of the day on Friday.
S: Method: Students will start each day with a song pertaining to onomatopoeia. Doing this each
day will not only grab the attention of the students, but with repetitive song, they will memorize
some sound words. This will make it easier for them to remember when asked what a sound
word may be because they will be able to at least remember the words they learned through song.
Students will also be put into groups in which their peers learn at, or close to, the same rate as
them. This will help them in progresses through each project because they are learning and
applying at their own speed. Making a poster and editing an image will start them off by being
introduced to onomatopoeia as well as putting it into a type of craft. I think this will be more
enjoyable for them as they are first learning what it is. Media: Students will be using multiple
different websites throughout these projects. Monday will be simple by just using one site, such
as Photoshop, to edit a picture. Materials: I will be sure to have

2. all of the materials needed before starting the project. This includes craft materials, computers,
and iPads.
U: I will utilize the media and materials I have by previewing my plan about a week ahead of
time. I will prepare and make sure everything is ready by the time the project is due to start
therefore no postponing in needed. I will give an introduction to the students, probably a week
prior to the activity, so they are slightly prepared for what the upcoming activity will be. I will
most likely mention it the next few days until the activity begins so they are less likely to forget.
I will make sure all activities are planned and set up to the best of my ability. This will give the
students the opportunity to learn as best as they can.
R: The students will be required to actively participate in each activity so they are given the full
experience as each of their peers. This includes all crafts made, computer lessons, podcasts, and
bot making. Participating in all of these activities will give each student a better understanding of
the material, making it easier for them to ultimately learn the meaning of onomatopoeia with
100% accuracy.
E: Considering this project will be done over the course of one week, I will be evaluating what is
working and what is not at the end of each day. I will make note of what is working and how
well, what could be changed, and what needs to be taken out of the activities completely. I will
also assess the students as a whole at the end of each day. This will give me a better idea of what
students are catching on and what students are not. With knowing this information, I will then be
able to look thoroughly into what is helping each child individually and what is not helping at all.
When the project is over, I will assess each child individually with a quiz. I will then record the
results and if the students met the objective requirements.
