 Propaganda is used mostly during
  political campaigns………….
 It is used especially before elections as
all the political parties make empty
  promises to the people.
 A speech given to a specific audience
 Piece of writing such as a flyer
 Visual poster, cartoon or a paragraph
 The reported speech or written speech is
  written in emotional words.
 The words are chosen to appeal to the
  audience’s emotion.
 In order to implement this technique
  strong language will be used.
1. People will be affected by the HIV/Aids.
                2. The boss needed the workers to stay an
extra hour on a minimum wage.
Normal

                1. Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters will
                     be affected by the HIV/Aids.
Propagandized

                2. The boss exploited the suffering workers.
 The speaker or writer wants the audience
to feel that he or she IDENTIFIES their
hopes and fears so the speaker will use
  “us”, “our” and “we”…..
 The speaker or writer also wants their
audience to feel that his message is in
the interest of the audience and by
agreeing with him will they’ll benefit…….
 To get this technique right the speaker or
writer will use words such and phrases
such as “my brothers and sisters” or
  “comrades”……
 The speaker or writer will also chose
information that supports what he or she
  is saying
                     AND
 Leaves the complicated and not so
  straightforward information out…..
 All are equal  This is selective as no
                        one is equal. Some
                        of the animals are
                        oppressed and there
                        is no equal
                        distribution of power.
 These are kept to a few short points
    because keeping it short somehow
makes it seem easy and true………..
 “Those who do not vote are killing
   Democracy”…….
What this quote is trying to get through to
the reader is that if you do not vote you are
against democracy and you are
inconsiderate and selfish….
 1994….. Lines were  2009…….less people
    long
 This technique is used to reinforce the point
that the speaker or the writer is trying to get
through to the audience or the readers…
                For example..
 Are you not sick of empty promises?
 Are you not sick of poor housing?

The words “are you not sick” are repeated to
make the people aware of the problems and
the ideas that you are trying to display to
them…
This is the process whereby an idea is
worded as a question to make one think
about the issue and agree with the
                              speaker or writer
                     Examples
 Are you not sick of empty promises?
 Are you not sick of poor housing?
These are examples of rhetorical question
because the answer is rather obvious but
yet one still asks it….
