The photography portfolio features photos taken of a model in different outfits and locations with a theme of brick walls and nature.
The document describes the evaluation of a student's project creating promotional materials for a new female musician. The initial concept was to create advertisements and merchandise but changed to an album cover after a t-shirt design was deemed unprofessional. Most design inspiration came from a questionnaire. The intentions of creating new images and designs were met with the finished tour poster, magazine cover, album covers, photography portfolio, and double page spread. Research included looking at similar materials online and a questionnaire to name the musician, though it could have been improved. Planning went well initially but was disrupted when the first model fell ill, requiring new planning. Time management was a challenge due to the change in models late in the process. Reflection was done through weekly diaries

The document discusses potential problems and solutions that may arise during a photography project. It begins by outlining backup plans for equipment like bringing extra batteries and storage. It then discusses various technical issues that could happen like software or computer crashes and how to ensure work is saved. Potential problems with models backing out last minute or issues with weather or locations are addressed. Solutions involve having backup models and locations selected. The document emphasizes the importance of saving work frequently and having backups to avoid losing progress if any issues occur.

14. Individual Learning Plan
At the beginning of the year, I set myself grade goals to make sure I get them at the end. This image on the second slide is showing what goals
were my aim. My personal target grade is a distinction and the national target grade is D/M. I am still hoping to get this grade after I improve
and hand in all my work.
Next, is goals and targets which are the things I want to achieve. For my long-term career aim I wasn’t sure on what to do and I am still not sure
now what to do. I am going to university to a learn about Media, Film &TV where I will be able to make my jobs variety wider.
My skills that I needed to develop were Photoshop and editing images. I believe have completed this target as most o the projects I have done
were photography based which meant I had t edit images. This last project was all about photography where I have edited all the images myself
and I believe I have done a good job with it.
The image underneath is about statements that are relevant to me which is only two of them. The first one is ‘I have a part time job working
more than 10 hours per week’ which has not changed currently. The second one is ’my attendance in the past has been poor’ which I think has
got slightly better than what it used to be.
17. University of Salford, ManchesterOpen Day
When I first started looking at universities, University of Salford was my top
choice. A friend and I travelled to Manchester to go see the university for an
open day. They had a whole area for media called Media City which looked
fantastic. We had a look around the university to see what it was like and went
to a lecture.
It was a really good university and I really enjoyed looking round and the
lecturers seemed really nice and friendly. At the end, I realised this was where I
wanted to go to do the course, Digital Media.
However, when I started looking for other universities I found another course
that was much better at NottinghamTrent University in Nottingham.
18. ASFFTrip
At the beginning of college, we went to see theAesthetica Shirt Film
Festival where thousands of short films were showed aroundYork.
The time we went to see was the same time we were studying video and
film at college. I remember the end of the festival where we were sat in
the theatre listening to a speaker talking about how they do what they
do now.
It was a good experience and a good chance to get to know everyone in
our class. We saw a few different genre of short films too which were all
very interesting.
20. UCAS Choices
The top two are my confirmed place and my insurance choice.
I have picked two courses which happen to be at the same
university. NottinghamTrent University has offered an
unconditional and for the other course a conditional.
I went to the LeedsArts University interview as this course
interested me a bit. However, I didn’t do too well and they turned
me down. When I realised I wanted to go to Nottingham, I kindly
declined De Montfort University and University of Salford was
withdrawn as I didn’t go to the interview.
21. Work Experience
During my time at college, a friend asked my if I would like to help
HG3 Conferences out at a conference in Nottingham. I accepted
her offer as it was good work experience in events management.
The boss, Nicola wanted to meet me to see if I was a good person
to do the job. Nicola was happy with me doing the job.
It was for 3 days and it was interesting, however, it was quite
boring at times as every one had laptops to do their work and as I
was on work experience I didn’t have anything to do.
A few weeks ago, they asked me back to help them with bag
packing for a conference in Birmingham.

Image:
On this poster for the ’casa chilhue’ guest house, the image is of the building and other buildings
surrounding the guest house. The angle they have taken the image is clearly from over the water
so they have the whole guest house. However, it doesn’t show which guest house it is in
particular as there are other buildings.
Just underneath the water they have added three images with a white stroke so then the
audience can see the image more clearly and so it doesn’t blend in with the background colour.
There seems to be a glow effect to the smaller images too.You can tell as there are dark areas
surrounding the image. Also, the smaller images could have been taken at a better angle as this
angle this not make the guest house look appealing.
Why have I chosen this poster & what have I learnt?
I have chosen this poster to look at because it is simple but it is well put together. I think the top
is nicely faded in with the clouds and the white background. I have learnt to make sure the font
and text size is readable and the correct size for all to read.
Text & Font:
There are many different sized text going on. I think the text underneath this images should be
larger and in a more funky font because that bit of text looks boring and plain. Then, underneath
that bit of text is in italics which I don’t think it should be. I think it should be in a bigger size and
definitely a different font. On this poster, they have used the same font throughout. But to jazz it
up more they should use a different font to make it more fun.The ‘Reserve Now’ border could be
more bold so it stands out. In the light blue border, the ‘Contact Us’ is too small and not very
readable for some people, this could be made larger as well. At the bottom of the address it says
‘Follow us’ which is tiny and unreadable. They have added tourist websites to book on which
they are small as well. I think what they have done with the text on the river is a good idea
because the font works however, I would use a different colour.
26. Existing Product
Colours:
I think the colour scheme could have been different. But it still goes well with each
other quite well. I would have used more brighter colours to make this poster more
vibrant and for it to stand out more, personally. The colours they have used are white,
blue, yellow and brown.
Connotations:
White – light, innocence, safety, cleanliness
Light Blue – health, understanding, softness
LightYellow – freshness, joy
Brown – security, elegance, home, warmth
From these the connotations they have clearly picked these because it makes the
guest house more welcoming and homely.
AudienceAppeal:
Their target audience would be 30+ because it somewhere that this audience can
relax and find more enjoyment in Chile. I think they would want to go stay at this
guest house and adventure somewhere different to their normal holidays.

43. Audience
Why will my project appeal to my audience?
My project is a newspaper cover, poster and a guide of birds and a map of the places where the nature reserves are
in the UK.The audience I have chosen is 25+ for both, male and females who have ‘high-powered jobs’ and take
their ‘careers very seriously.’They don’t know much about theYorkshireWildlife Trust, only if they saw the logo
they would.
The guide will appeal as it will teach them something about birds and if they go to their local nature reserve they
will be able to see them certain birds. I thought of producing a magazine but I changed my mind to making a
newspaper as this newspaper will be where they work, on the desk, posted through their letterbox etc. Also, the
newspaper will be free.
I am going to be using natural colours such as different shades of green, dull yellow and brown. These colours will
stand out on a dark background and grab the attention of my audience.
44. Assessment of Final Ideas
Do you think your audience will engage with your ideas?
I have full hope that my audience does engage with the ideas I will come up with. I have picked out
a subtle colour scheme and fonts. The key parts that will engage my audience are the popping text
and images.
Does your idea fulfil the brief your client gave you?
My idea does fulfil the brief as I will create the newspaper cover and include the MP part to it.The
poster will have some general facts on it and a website address. Finally, the guide will have a few
common birds that people may see but don’t think anything of it and a map with other places with
their addresses too.
Is your project practical and manageable in the time you have?
I think I will have enough time to get everything done if I keep on top of it all. If I had additional
time however, I don’t think I would use very wisely. In the last week, will be the week just make
sure everything is sorted.
46. Personal Statement
Media is a subject that can appeal to many different people through many different ways. With society ever-changing, it has
become more difficult to understand the scope and role of media. I hope to continue my studies of media at university level, in a bid
to further understand media and its influence on society. I am looking for a university course where I am not restricted in just one
area and that allows me to learn about everything that I am passionate about, like photography, print, advertising and marketing.
I have interned as an entertainment apprentice for Made in Leeds. I gained invaluable first-hand experience of the television
production process. The internship taught me the importance of teamwork in media production, as we relied on each other and
depended on team spirit to move projects along. It also gave me the chance to apply the theoretical knowledge I learned in class
into the process of television production when I used Adobe Premiere to edit my film.
During my three years at college, I have been able to produce multiple print pieces of work which have got a distinction grade.
Some of this work consists of magazine covers, double page spreads with my own written content, a fanzine and different
advertising production such as leaflets and posters.
To develop my skills, I used Photoshop for a factual project. I produced an autumn photography fanzine, using my own
photography. After conducting interviews with people to find out how autumn makes them feel, I picked out interesting quotes and
then based the photography on that. I went out with my camera, recording my reactions to autumn, using the interview quotes to
guide me. Once I had the images, I then took them back in to college for further processing. By using the filter gallery and other
processing techniques, I believe I made the images more artistic.
47. Personal Statement
For a recent project for an external client, I wanted the work to look hand drawn. After using the filter gallery, I was
able to do this and my client was pleased with the result.
Furthermore, my skills have developed during my years in Guides and the National Citizen Service. I am a people
person and always looking for more exciting ways to develop myself. NCS has taught me public-speaking skills,
leadership skills and communication within a team and with the elderly. In the last week of NCS, the team
organised a tea and coffee morning for the elderly at the church, which allowed me to develop my interpersonal
and organisational skills.
Throughout my time at college, I worked in order to support myself financially. I believe this is important to my
growth, and using this money I was able to purchase Photoshop to continue my work at home.
At university, I look forward to an exciting adventure of learning more about media and working towards my
future. My goal after I successfully finish university is to be able to utilise what I have learnt in a new exciting career.
At the moment, I'm not sure what I want to do with my life, however knowing that all these courses could possibly
lead to my main path in life is the part that thrills me.
