Explain and discuss by counting the coins.
There are 5, 5 cent coins on display.
5¢ + 5¢ + 5¢ + 5¢= 20¢
There is 1, 5 cent coin, 3, 10 cent coins
and 1, 25 cent coin on display.
5¢ + 10¢ + 10¢ + 10¢ + 25¢ = 60¢
There are 3, 25 cent coins and 1, 5 cent
coin on display.
25¢ + 25¢ + 25¢ + 5¢= 80¢

5. Dollar Bills
• In Trinidad & Tobago, six different
bills, are used:

If we observe how we write money, the point is in the middle.
We see five dollars and twenty five cents.
The point separates the whole number,
that is the 5 dollars. The point separates
the fraction, that is the 25 cents.

9. What is Profit & Loss
Profit and Loss looks at all the things you buy and what you
have sold and it takes away all the cost you have paid.
You go to a store and pick up a few items. It costed $10.00.
you paid with $20.00. your change is $10.00 that’s the Loss.
You took the items you paid $10.00 for and sold them for
$15.00. The $5.00 you added to the price, is the Profit. Not
the $15.00.
If you took the items you paid $10.00 for and sold them for
$9.00, the $1.00 you took away to the price, is the Loss.
