This document provides an overview of fractions, decimals, and percentages. It explains how to convert between the different representations and compare their values. Key points covered include:
- Fractions represent a part over a whole
- To convert a fraction to a percentage, express it with a denominator of 100
- To convert a percentage to a fraction, write it as a fraction over 100
- To write a decimal as a percentage, multiply it by 100 and add the percent sign
- Fractions, decimals, and percentages can be compared by first converting them to the same representation (e.g. fractions over 100) and then comparing their values.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Fractions, decimals, and percentages
1. Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages
…oh, my!
• You will be able to express fractions as
percentages and percentages as fractions.
• You will be able to express percentages as
decimals and decimals as percentages.
• You will be able to compare and order fractions,
decimals, and percentages.
2. Fractions
A fraction is not a whole number – it’s
part of a number…commonly
demonstrated with a pizza example.
The numerator (one slice) expresses a
‘part’ of the ‘whole’ (the denominator –
or number of slices in the entire pizza).
So, if you have 1 slice of pizza and the entire pizza has 8 slices,
you have 1/8th of the pizza.
Part
Whole
3. Fractions to Percentages
A percent is a ratio that compares a number to
100. A specified amount for every 100.
If you have 2 slices of pizza, you would have
2
10
of the pizza. 2 parts of the whole.
To convert a fraction to a percentage simply
express the fraction with a denominator of
100. For example:
2
10
x
10
10
=
20
100
Since a percent is a number that compares to 100,
20
100
is the same as 20 out of 100. Or, 20%.
4. Percentages as Fractions
Nice. But how do you express a
percentage as a fraction?
What if your friend tells you that she wants
70% of the pizza? How much will she get?
She wants 7 parts of 10 pieces.
And we know that fractions show parts of a whole…
𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡
𝑤ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑒
So, 7 parts of 10 (the whole) would be expressed as
7
10
.

7. Decimals as Percentages
To write a decimal as a percent, multiply by 100 and add the
percent symbol. Percent really just means per 100.
.25 x 100 = 25%
8. Practice
.35 = 35x100 = ____ %
.72 = 72x100 = ____%
.03 = 3x100 = _____%
How did you do? Check your answers: 35%, 72%, 3%
9. Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages:
Comparing
Don’t worry; it’s not that hard.
They are all parts of a whole (just written different ways).
