The document outlines the initial planning stages for a short film project. It includes brainstorming initial ideas, choosing an idea to pursue, researching the target audience, identifying resources needed and constraints on production. The idea chosen is a comedy thriller about someone who receives a news alert that the world will end in two hours, so they scramble to complete a bucket list. It's then revealed to be an April Fools prank. Research was done on the target 15-24 year old audience and appropriate production techniques. Resources, costs, time limitations and other constraints are considered for managing the project.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

Add your mind map(s) and any documents about your initial ideas here (this could include sketches, sources of
inspiration, etc
Inspirations:
-One thing which is
Similar to my idea is in an
episode of Family Guy
they have something to do
with April fools so I
developed their idea and
made it my own
completely changing the
middle and end.

-Another film which could
be seen as in the same
genre is Rush hour, this
has many conventions in
the film which I want to
employ in my work so I did
my micro analysis on this
film
3. YOUR IDEA
Explain why you have chosen your particular idea, this could be for a specific reason or a combination of reasons, all
specific to you. Provide as much detail as possible
The short film will start at 10pm on 31st of March. This will start by there been a news headline which they inform the public that there will be an unfortunate series of events
which is going to cause the world to end in 2 hours. They set their watch on their wrist to count down two hours
The subject rushes to their room only to bring out a bucket list from their draw which will have around 10 things which they want to do before they die.
So they start crossing things off the list whilst having constant fast cuts to their stop watch on their wrist counting down the time they have on earth
They can even start doing things which are people would dare try to make it have a comical effect
It gets to the last 10 minutes and the person is completely tired out, they head back home for the last 10 minutes have a little heart to heart conversation with their family. They
do the countdown together and cuddle as a family
The new team start to count down the last 5 second before the end of the world
“three…..Two…..one April fools!! It's the 1st of April and the whole things been staged by the news team
(There will be limited dialogue)
The reason I went with this idea is because it mixes two genres which I really enjoy personally as well as the idea has been taken from something which already exists, there’s
a Family guy episode were they do a April fools prank. I have taken their idea and made it my own by changing it the start and what the result of the prank is in my synopsis.
The reason I wanted to make it into the thriller is because I had a few ideas from the film Rush Hour 2,, the karaoke in this film where it starts off with very long takes which
give off the impression everything is calm in the atmosphere and then when the tension in the scene starts to build, the shot length decreases to build this effect.
I would have no main gender which I want to aim this project at, due to the genre and idea behind my short film. I don’t have anything in this which would
make the idea specific gender.
I might have a section at the end which involves a gun so this could be seen as more visually interesting for a male audience.
This would tend to be aimed at people between the ages of 15-24 which in the classification means anyone in this age range are a teenager, this mean I
can make the film look interesting and if it catches my eye it will most likely catch the eye of the audience I’m aiming this project at.
There’s nothing which is involved to make this project specific to any sexuality so this wouldn't have to be looked into or taken into account when
producing this film.
The social grade that I would follow for my target audience would fall into C1, B and A, the reason I think this would be appropriate for the film I’m
making is because the scene I want to film this could give off an upper class feel to the family meaning people in these social grade can relate to the
subjects.
I feel this would be a short film which would have a psychographic of achievers, this is mainly because the subject goes out and does everything on
their bucket list that they can before the count down stops which is something achievers might do if they were put into this situation
I feel that geodemographics wouldn’t apply here as this is an idea which can relate to almost anyone because they can all put themselves in their
position. If I had to pick a curtain area I would say my idea would be more interesting for people in cities ad built up areas because I filming most of this
in areas like this. It also means they can try relate to my story in their own area
4. PRIMARY TARGET
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
You MUST conduct a questionnaire/survey/interview or a combination of all
three. Summarise this and add in any other primary research you feel is
appropriate
5. SECONDARY TARGET
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
Research viewing figures, sales figures, demographic and psychographic
info. Look up article, features or stories related to your potential audience
6. IDENTIFY TARGET
AUDIENCE
For this you should summarise your primary and secondary research,
through this you should then be able to produce an audience outline that
you intend to target. For this you could also produce an audience profile.
7. AUDIENCE APPROPRIATE
CONTENT
Given your idea generation and your audience research, what sort of content
would you define as the appropriate. Consider issues of taste, certification
[BBFC might be a good starting point for this], etc. Look at what you’d like
to include and what you are allowed to include.
8. PRODUCTION
TECHNIQUES RESEARCH
Research potential production techniques you might want to
use or feel would be most appropriate.
You should watch films/tv shows/music videos that are of a
similar genre/style/audience as what you want to make.
You should collect clips/still images/how to guides/etc that
might help you. When watching scenes from films, etc you
could also ask potential target audience what they think.
You will need to add extra slides!
With each technique you should assess whether you can use
it or how you might employ or why you may want to
disregard it completely
9. AVAILABLE RESOURCE
AND MATERIALS (AUDIT)
List all resources and materials you might need, list where you might
access/obtain them and any cost/time implications related to their use
You should show this as a table, ideally.
The following categories should help you:
Technical/Personnel/Locations/Props/Costume/Transport/etc
10. CONSTRAINTS ON
PRODUCTION
List all the potential constraints that might affect or limit your production,
you should consider issues from each of these categories:
Time/Personnel/Cost/Technical/Location/Organisational/etc
11. PRODUCTION
MANAGEMENT
CONSIDERATIONS
Think about how you intend to manage your project, considering all that you
have assembled in this file. Are there areas that will need more work than
others? How do you intend to go about getting your production made?
12. MODIFICATIONS
Have you had to alter your idea based on the research you have performed?
Have you had to modify your idea due to your pitch/proposal? Or any other
reasons? Track it here and justify what you have decided to alter
