Production Diary
Cast and Crew
• First I needed some people to bea part of my documentary and some crew to help set
up the cameraand the set as well as someone who would bein chargeof the
cinematography. Theinterviewees I chose wereMatthew, Ben and Elliot, the crew
whoset up the film set and camera’s were Kieron and Maddison
The Set Up
• Theset up consisted of two chairs facing each other so I can get a shot of both the interviewer and theinterviewee,
the chairs were positioned in front of a neutralblack backgroundoriginally it was a green backgroundbut I
decided it was too bright and could lead to complications whenediting during post-production so I reverted to the
black backgroundas it causes less issues and looks moreprofessional, I used a tripod to steady thecamera so the
footage came out clear and in focus and so the footage wouldn’t be shakyas it would be if the camera was held by
hand
The filming
• I used a twoshot for the documentary so you can seeboth the
interviewer and the interviewee, this made it easier to shoot as
the interview felt more like a conversation than an
interrogation and it made asking and answering the questions
go a lot more smoothly, giving it a bit of an improvised and
relaxedfeel to the documentary
I did threeinterviews for mydocumentary so I can get
different points of view for mydocumentaryso I’d havea lot
to workwith and so that it can furtherexpand mytarget
audience as certain viewers could relate more to on of the
interviewees
Stock footage + music
• To break up the long breaks in my documentary I used stock footage to fill out the
long explanative gaps in the documentary, togetthis footage I just used a random
stock footage site for the footage and uploaded the footage to YouTube to make it
more easily accessible, I also used music to coverup the silent gaps, the site I used for
that is called bensound to get royalty free music to use for the silent gaps
Filming of
the
Instagram
footage
• Forthe Instagram footage I made I brand new account to see
what would comeup when you follow all the trending
accounts, to recordthis I used the browser version of
Instagram and then used Microsoft stream to capture what
was on the screenso I could get the footage for the
documentary then uploading to YouTube to makethat footage
more easily accessible just like the stock footage
