Communication

What is Communication?
• Exchanging Information
• Has many mediums
• Can be Non verbal ( Gestures, Signs, etc.)
• Can be one sided or mutual
Encoding
• Thoughts to words
• Uses a medium to communicate
• Level of message consciousness may vary
due to noise and other barriers
• Lot of Non verbal Communication
Decoder
• Interpreting the message from the speaker
• Interpretations may vary from person to
person
• Has a chance to misunderstand due to
noise and other barriers
Message
• Message is the key idea that a sender
wants to communicate.
• It is a sign that elicits the response of
recipient.
• Communication process begins with
deciding about the message to be
conveyed.
• It must me ensured that the main
objective of the message is clear.
Channel
• Channels are the way you convey your
message.
• These channels include verbal such as
telephone and face to face conversations as
well as non-verbal such as email and text
messaging.
• Each individual channel has its strengths and
weaknesses in terms of communication.
Receiver
• Receiver is a person from whom the message
is intended or aimed.
• The degree to which the decoder
understands the message is dependent upon
factors such as knowledge of recipient, their
responsiveness to the message, and the
reliance of encoder or decoder.
Feedback
• Usually given by the Receiver
• May be positive or negative
• May be Non Verbal
• Helps the speaker
