IMC joins forces with ATCI to push 3 core missions to boost Thai IT industry
The newly opened IMC Institute by Dr. Thanachart Numnonda focuses on conducting researches on
ICT markets and policy in Thailand and developing human capital on emerging IT technology trends. It
also supports business matching for startup companies especially those with emerging technology to
go global and become ready for AEC 2015.
Bangkok — 22 January 2013 — IMC Institute, supported by the Association of Thai ICT industry (ATCI),
is founded by a group of ICT experts who recognize that information technology (IT) is rapidly changing.
The institute shall focus on four mega technology trends: Cloud Computing, Mobile Technology, Social
Technology and Information (Big Data). These trends have impact on IT industry. In particular, software
industry needs to be upgraded signifcantly. IMC missions are to conduct market and policy researches
on IT human capital and usage of emerging technologies in Thailand. It shall provide training on
emerging technologies for both IT and Non-IT people. Training courses will focus for both executives
and IT Professionals. It shall also support business matching for startup companies especially those
with emerging technology to go global and become ready for AEC 2015.
Dr. Thanachart Numnonda, Director of IMC Institute, said that; “One major problem of the country is the
lack of accurate data for planning the application of information technology. There is still a lack of data
on application, personnel information and trends survey. Most data used nowadays are from research
institutes from various countries and focus on regional trends rather than in-depth information of
Thailand. Moreover, we also lack of the awareness of appropriate adoption of information technology
and the lack of skilled personnel in accordance with the changes in technology as well.”
IMC Institute was formed under the joint vision to drive the ICT industry in Thailand to compete on the
world stage amidst the changes in information technology. Its role is to be the leader in research and
survey on the usage of information technology in many areas in Thailand. That includes information on
human resources, as well as exploring the potential use of information technology. In addition to our
focus on personnel development, we also keen to raise awareness on the use of information technology
among executives and employees of organizations.
Our three core activities include: 1. conducting market and policy researches on IT human capital and
usage of emerging technologies in Thailand. 2. Training emerging technologies for both IT and Non-IT
