1) The ISOLearn project aims to improve accessibility and social learning for hearing and visually impaired students in higher education institutions across Europe.
2) It provides practical guidelines and quality indicators in a handbook to help higher education institutions design accessible learning methods and tools for impaired students.
3) The handbook and quality label will help universities develop more accessible courses and programs to improve the enrollment rate of impaired students and their employment opportunities.
The CareNet project is aimed at developing a critical set of ICT competences for 2 identified ‘at risk’ target groups: care-workers and older persons. The project is designed to work in a synergistic way to tackle identified problems in the low skilled and under professionalised care-worker sector while at the same time promoting social inclusion and enhancing the quality of life of older people. The CareNet project will design, develop and pilot learning paths and resources based on cooperative learning between care workers and care recipients to promote improved quality of care and quality of life through the acquisition of care related digital competences. In addition, to answer specific needs, learning modules for individual learning, addressing ICT competences for employability and self-development (care workers) and ICT competences for active ageing (older people) will be created. In this way the project will contribute to: (1) the identified needs for professionalisation of care workers; (2) increased access to learning opportunities; (3) personal development of care workers and, ultimately, (4) overcoming the isolation of both care workers and older people by promoting social enterprise, active citizenship and active ageing.

The goal of D-TRANSFORM (http://www.dtransform.eu/) is to implement a training program for leaders of European universities (presidents, vice-presidents) focusing on the major role played by digital technologies and Open Educational Resources (OER) in the necessary transformation of their institutions. The premise is that e-education (digital pedagogy and training) can become a strategic tool for European universities, enabling them to be pedagogically more effective, more cost-effective, more attractive and able to meet the needs of the professional world with regard to youth training and life-long learning.
This webinar focused on a comparative survey between Spain, France, Italy and the United Kingdom on public digital policies and Dr. Szucs presented an overview on the business models for opening up education – Sustainability of MOOCs, OER and related online education approaches in higher education in Europe. The presentation also aimed to answer the question of whether Open Educational Resources are a lever for digital transition of higher education.

The AISAB Project will address the need within the EU to improve the level of innovation and its impact, particularly in SMEs. Building on the work of other innovation projects and materials, it will develop approaches to develop the skills that support SME innovation from an HEI context and through VET. These complementary streams of work will see implementation of initiatives to drive innovation, both during the project and also on a sustainable basis, by embedding the outcomes in the day-to-day activities of HEIs and organisations delivering VET to SMEs.

The ‘We Go!’ partnership has developed a training toolkit. The toolkit is based on the research data from all of the partner countries and is tested within project pilot activities.
The developed guidelines are meant to facilitate a participatory approach in quality initiatives based on EQAVET indicators adapted to national conditions. The approach should motivate and engage the VET-providers in quality initiatives cycle based on EQAVET.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Guidelines and Quality Indicators for enhancing accessibility in HEIs
The ISOLearn Handbook, available for consultation on the Project website - www.isolearn.net,
describes practical guidelines for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) on how to design and
deliver appropriate ICT-based didactic methods and learning tools in order to support the
accessibility of visual and hearing impaired students.
The Handbook contains also the Quality Label, a Checklist with Quality Indicators to assess the
accessibility of the academic programmes and services provided by the HEIs.
Promoted by the Aberta Universidade (Lisbon, Portugal), and supported by 4 European
countries (Portugal, Italy, Slovenia and Sweden), the Project brings together Higher Education
Institutions, Associations of Blind and Deaf people, VET Providers and a Foundation of Public
Utility. ISOLEARN aims to improve the quality of higher educational offer addressed to
hearing/visual-impaired students in order to enhance their accessibility to HEIs.
The Handbook and Quality Label will foster the development of more adequate HE courses,
the improvement of the accessibility rate of hearing / visually impaired students to University,
and thus, their employability opportunities.
The Project final results will be presented during the relevant European Conference, that will
be held on September 22nd 2016, in Lisbon (Portugal).
