Department for International Cooperation Folkuniversitetet, Uppsala Address:Bergsbrunnagatan 1 75323 Uppsala, Sweden Phone:018-68 00 60 Email:ali.rashidi@folkuniversitetet.se PRESS RELEASE 15.10.15 FOLKUNIVERSITETET WILL PARTICIPATE IN A DAPHNE PROJECT FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN Folkuniversitetet will participate in “WE GO!” - 2 year DAPHNE project on economic empowerment of women along with other 10 European partners. “WE GO!Women Economic-independence & Growth Opportunity” project aims to strengthen support services for women victims of domestic violence in Europe, with a particular regard to training and advisory services that shelters/women’s centres offer to these victims. It focuses on the capacity building of trainers and officers of these centres and the development of new methods/responses to address the lack of economic alternatives for women victims. Thanks to WE GO!, centres will become more responsive to economic needs of victims, who will be able to exit situation of violence as a result of being empowered. “We’ve been working on the whole series of European projects on empowerment of women, adult education and labour market inclusion. We’re highly interested in the project and will contribute with our expertise as much as we can”, - says Yevgeniya Averhed, the deputy director of Department for International Cooperation of Folkuniversitetet. FU-Uppsala has a long tradition of successfully introducing new teaching methods into adult education including the latest developments in ICT. FU-Uppsala offers both formal and non- formal education for public authorities, enterprises and individuals.
