Definition of Past Simple
It is a verb tense that is used to describe actions that have
happened in a previous time and that have already finished,
Usually it is accompanied by a temporary expression that
alludes to the past: “Yesterday I bought four books” (“Yesterday
I bought four books”).
Characteristics of the Past Simple
 Indicates the action performed at a specific time in the past.
 -The main verb of the sentence is always in the past.
 -It has a simple composition of "subject and predicate verb".
 -It is the only grammatical tense that uses verbs in the past.
 -The predicate expressions that determine the time of the sentence can be used,
although it will always be the verb that indicates whether or not the sentence is in the
past tense.
applications
 The past simple is used to talk about a specific action that
began and ended in the past, The past simple is used for a
set of actions carried out in the past. Similarly, it is common
to use it for repeated or everyday actions in the past, similar
to the Spanish past imperfect.
Types of verbs
 Regular verbs
Regular verbs are the simplest to conjugate since their spelling in simple
past or past participle is the same as in present tense adding a "d" or "ed" at
the end.
Irregular verbs
Irregular verbs are those that do not follow any rules when it comes to
forming the past or the participle. This means that when it comes to
learning their grammar, we can get confused more easily.
These types of verbs change their tense following their own rules.
