2. Gang signs and prayer digipak
Traditional, serit font,
Challenging the
expectations of todays
society and the fonts
we usually use on
social media. This could
be a foreshadowing the
different approach
stormzy has taken with
his music.
Stormy stands firm in the
center while anonymous
friends and family surround
the artist. This image can also
be seen as a replica of ‘The
Last Supper’. As their is
several people sitting at a
table together, one of these
people staying in the middle ,
while the others cluster on
each side. ‘The last Supper’ is
based around Jesus, meaning
that through this picture
Stormzy may be comparing
him self to Jesus Christ.
This picture mostly uses a monochrome color
pallet, as it features predominantly black and
white tones. Two contradicting shades, meaning
that this could be deliberately done to represent
race and diversity in London. Ultimately,
representing the black cultures importance.
3. The short name’s of songs
were placed in certain poison
and order, so that this shape
was formed, such as cold, my
skeng, 100 bags and shut up.
The color of the song
name and the feature’s are
different, showing the
importance levels
between the two by how
bright it shines.
The color pallet
links to the album
cover, showing a
consistent believe
and a general
theme of the
album.
The warning label at the
bottom shows there may
be some offensive
language featured
throughout the album. The
fact that this sign is larger
than the barcode, artist
logo and warning label.
4. The Last Supper
As you can see, this picture is extremely
similar to the album cover. The posture of
Jesus is so similar to Stormzy’s reinforcing my
previous point that Stormzy may be trying to
start his own religion by bringing his beliefs to
life. However, the color scheme is completely
different as this picture uses colorful gowns
and dresses, whereas Stormzy and his
associates are dressed in completely black
tracksuits and balaclavas.
5. Website
Again, stormzy keeps the theme consistent, by having a few of the
exact same associates that featured in the album cover in the
background page of the website. There are a few options for the
listeners here, as it is clearly shown that you can either order a CD
album or digital download.
6. Advertising
This picture on the road side, acts as a constant reminder for the fans as they walk past, as it creates
the illusion that he's watching you. This is placed on a main road, making to more effective in terms
of attracting attention. Whereas the quote “all my young black kings rise up, this is our year”, this is
a very direct quote and very strategic use of words, as stormzy’s main audience is young black
males.
