Xbox Magazine:
• Official Xbox magazine is a monthly witch started in
November 2001 and is on going to this date.
• The magazine was bundled with a disc that included game
demos, preview videos and trailers, and other content, such
as game or Xbox updates and free gamerpics. The discs also
provided the software for the Xbox 360 for backward
compatibility of original Xbox games for those without
broadband

• Main title with the Xbox's signature Logo and
color scheme(bright greens, silvers and hints
of red.) these are the main colours on the
spectrum. As well as brings out the text from
the page.
• The fonts ether use the in game title fonts or
this square like technical looking font.
• The way its laid out is that the masthead has
the front image covering part of it this could
be because the brand is known so well that
they are able to do that to show off the
content that is highlighted. Every little
caption has a little image to go along with it
showing bits and snippets of the game that
they missed out on.
• The writing style is formal and and uses
language that gamers will understand
therefor with some informal ideas into it.
Due to the gaming language used.

• Inside the magazine it is a much darker
inside with the colors of the Xbox silver
and grey the same but on a black
background instead.
• With the main image being on the on the
left with text on the right this layout is
most popular due to the simplicity and
showing off what the game looks like
before release. Giving audiences a clear
idea.
• The masthead is the title of the game
being shown off with it being in the font of
the Xbox magazine in red making it stand
out. Each bit of information is labeled
differently. The text is brought out on the
black background by the silver making it
stand out compared to the rest of the
work.
• The writing aspect is formal writing with
the game launague for the iconic viewer
although this is a foren article in a
different language so I cant key out words.

• The website is multiple authors
with multiple story's or views so
each author and subject gets
there own masthead talking
about the subject that’s linked.
Making it more personal for the
author.
• Fonts are different from the
magazine. That makes sense
because it’s the website and not
the magazine although still sticks
to colour scheme of the Xbox
• The language style is formal as
usual with gaming refences for
the gamer/ target audience.

6. Research
• Empire is a British film magazine published monthly by
Bauer Consumer Media of Hamburg based Bauer
Media Group. From the first issue in July 1989
• Empire is populist in both approach and coverage. It
reviews both mainstream films and art films, but
feature articles concentrate on the former.
• As well as film news, previews, and reviews, Empire has
some other regular features. Each issue features a
Classic Scene, a transcript from a notable film scene.

• Colours tend to be of the dark and the
red variety manly I think due to the fact
1: it stands out and 2: the cover has the
3 main “villains” in the film on the front
cover. So these colours perfectly
represent the evil. The font is the
empires like font throughout the page
with different altering colours.
• The photography wasn’t a snapshot
from the film it was a professionally
done one. Also they made them stand
in strong powerful stances. This gives
fear because they are the villains
making us feel like the have a higher
power.
• The masthead is covered by the main
photo althothough since the text is so
well known they can do this and people
will still know the magazine. With all
the other content in the magazine in
smaller text and in a different colour.
• The style gives the movie theme as well
as the text being formal but scattered
with star wars refences for the die-hard
fan.

• The font is different from the
empire logos font. The colours
shown fit the characters well
due to it being the joker that
follows the green and black
colour concept that fits with
the purple suit.
• The photography was taken
straight from the movie
showing what to expect from
the film.
• The masthead is pushed into
the corner although is in a
different colour that makes it
stand out from the rest.
• The style of text is formal
talking about the previous
batman's and how this one is
so different reviewing it.

• The font is the same used in
the magazine with the colours
being bright with the
highlights in the darker colour
standing out. With it keeping
simple.
• The photos used are used in
the films or from the
premieres of the films.
• The masthead is in the top
left that has enough space to
make it stand out enough
with the only bit of red on the
top of the page.
• The text is bref making sure
that the audience clicks and
read more into the subject.

• Rolling Stone is an American biweekly
magazine that focuses on popular culture. It
was founded in San Francisco in 1967 by Jann
Wenner
• the magazine shifted focus to a younger
readership interested in youth-oriented
television shows, film actors, and popular
music. In recent years, it has resumed its
traditional mix of content.

11. (7) Research
• The front of the magazine use a plain
white background behind the main image
with text ether in dark colours or
extremely xenon bright colours, if you
notice these colours are the same as daft
punks colours too. The rolling stone title
id in a certain font from the rest with the
other fonts.
• The photography was done professionally
and done and just for the magazine.
Showing some sort of fanciness to the
magazine discussing these people.
• The masthead is covered by daft punks
helmets although you can still understand
the title mainly by the style. All the extra
text is labelled throughout the page with
the texts all explaining about other topics
or these main artists.
• The writing style is formal as usual
although this shows the audience what
they should expect from this magazine

12. (8) Research
• The magazine on the inside holds its
own in they way its allot of the same
on the inside from the cover but looks
different in a way witch looks darker
and the bright colours are still
showing. With the main image shown
off with the text on the left.
• The coulors match daft punk well with
the text masthead holding specific
colours for the certain letter that
relates to the double act.
• The writing is in a big chunk at they
side of the page that had made room
for a bigger image although the
writing I feel like is abit to small and or
not really ustiling the space on the
page.

13. (9) Reseach
• This rolling stones website shows
off the masthead on a plain
white background directly in top
centre of the screen. This stand
out because there is only 2 red
parts of the page and the
youtube logo is sagnifantly
smaller than the rolling stone
one.
• The photography on the page is
mixed with all of the pictures
with text so the viewer if needs
be can look into it more.
• Colours are very simple with
black and white and the font is
really ther the same or in bold
(apart from the masthead.)

15. Research Evaluation
• What I'm going to take from this is that the simpler covers and the brighter colours tend to look a
lot better as a cover than the darker covers. This could help me produce a cover that will stand with
the rest and not be under the radar compared to others
• I feel like iconic photos / covers should be looked into more this professional photography really
helps a cover stand out above ones that are just made up of images.
• I like the idea of having a huge image coving one of he double page spared then having information
on the lift or the right. Although I would like to have multiple ones instead of the one that the
rolling stone magazine had. I felt the rolling stone Double page was really good looking style wise
but the big chunk of writing almost looked intimidating. Therefor splitting up that information into
small chunks may have been a cleverer idea.
• Websites I like the Xboxes idea with having the uses'/ authors all having there articles listed out
with there gamer pictures next to them. Showing witch “gamer” made them with there gamer tag
next to the name to prove the Xbox account.
