1. GENDER ISSUES RELATED TO HIV AND AIDS
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), the
virus attacks the body immune system
specifically targeting the CD4 which help the
immune system fight against infections.
It can lead to AIDS (Acquired Immune
Deficiency Syndrome) if left untreated.
AIDS is characterised by weakening immune
system.
2. GENDER ISUUES
Gender issues related to HIV and AIDS may
include:
1. Gender disparities in accessing the
healthcare and treatment due to economic,
social and cultural factors.
2. Gender based violence and HIV risk. Women
and girls may be at an increased risk of HIV
infection due to gender based violence , like
sexual assault and intimate partner violence.
( limited ability to negotiate safe sex and
access to health care services)
3. • Limited decision making power such as sexual
health issues( condom use)
• Stigma and discrimination. Gender norms and
expectations can contribute to stigma and
discrimination against individuals living with
HIV( may lead to social isolation , loss of live
hood and limited access to support services)
• Economic challenges(may lead to some
women to engage in unsafe sexual practices
for satisfying their economic needs.

• Care giving responsibilities. Women often take
the primary role of care giving for the family
member who living with HIV, this can place
additional emotional, financial and physical
burden on them impacting their own health
and well being in general.
• Female Genital Mutilation. A harmful practice
that can have serious health consequences for
women and girls. FGM increases vulnerability
to HIV and AIDS.

COVID-19 (corona virus disease 2019) is a
pandemic disease caused by a virus
named SARS-CoV-2
It can be very contagious and spreads
quickly.
It spread through air and the virus move
from one infected person and affect to un
infected person.
7. The COVID 19 Pandemic was confirmed
to have reached Tanzania in 16th March
2020
The virus was first declared in Arusha
before spreading to other
locations/regions of Tanzania.
8. According to the latest Covid-19 statistics
published by the World Health Organisation
(WHO), there have been 42,530 confirmed
cases of COVID-19 with 846 deaths in
Tanzania.
According to the Ministry of Health of
Tanzania, a total of 46,848,520 Vaccine doses
had been administered and 86% of Tanzanians
aged 18 and above received a full dose of
vaccination against Covid-19.

Innovation/creativity of different preventive
health skills such as safety mask and
sanitizers, Steam Therapy ( The way to flush
off viral infections) .

( such as keeping social distance , washing

in a self-supportive, rather than self-defeating,
manner.

Increased skills in e-learning/ Advantages on
online Education. i.e COVID-19 has
accelerated adaption of digital technology to
