Among of the strategies used to alleviate the
problem of HIV/AIDS in Tanzania and other
developing countries are the following:-

Mass media campaigns is playing a great part
in on HIV prevention
behavioral interventions.
• Behavioral interventions have been shown to
be capable of changing risk behaviors related
to both sexual practices and substance use in
populations of men who have sex with men

Education, training, and capacity building for
health care providers are also important
activities that can improve the ability of health
care providers and systems and community-
based organizations and their staff to provide
high quality HIV prevention, care, and
treatment services efficiency and effectively.

information to young people and reinforce
healthy norms in a school setting.
• Students who have been exposed to school-
based sex education reviews the effectiveness

prevention programs.

mass media, as well as to increase access to

facilities, promotional events, and other
mechanisms

infected mothers. This help to reduce HIV
among infants is to provide better
contraception services.
Use of antiretroviral therapy.
• provision of antiretroviral drugs to infected
mothers significantly reduces vertical
transmission.

• The provision of antiretroviral therapy to
prevent MTCT (mother to child transmission)
is highly cost-effective, to the point of being
cost-saving for women who already know that
they are infected.
