JAMES R. FLYNN
The Concept of Flynn
effect was given by James
Flynn
In 1984.
INTRODUCTION
 The Flynn effect is the substantial increase in
intelligence scores measured in many parts of
the world from 1930 to present day.
 It means that you would be having more level
of IQ than your ancestors.
 It is the assumption that average IQ scores
have raised over generation. Flynn was the first
person to systematically classify the IQ level
difference between generations.
What is IQ ?????
 An intelligence quotient
(IQ) is a score derived
from one of several tests
designed to assess
human intelligence. The
abbreviation "IQ" was
coined by the psychologist
William Stern
 Approximately two-thirds
of the population scores
between IQ 85 and IQ
115. About 5 percent of
the population scores
above 125, and 5 percent
below 75.
Countries IQ Level
Hong Kong 108
Japan 105
Switzerland 101
China 100
England 100
USA 98
Russia 97
India 82
South Africa 77
This table shows IQ
Level in different
countries.
Facts:
Albert Einstein had an IQ
Level of 160 . Eleven-year-old
Pooja Wahi had excelled in
the Mensa IQ test with the
highest score of 162. She is
one of the youngest to
achieve that.
With this feat, she has
established herself more
intelligent than Albert Einstein
and Stephen Hawking.
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
From the given case study, we identified following
problems:
 Generation Gap: It is known as change in
beliefs and values of current generation than
older generation.
 Technology: Advancement in technology has
changed the whole world.
 Rigid Thinking: Older generation still develops
traditional way of doing things.
SITUATION ANALYSIS
 From the case study we analyzed that IQ level
keeps on increasing generation after generation
also they become more smarter and intelligent than
the preceding generation.
 The idea behind this perception is that people of our
society have learned to work better within a limited
time frame. This trend allows later generations to
score better because they make intelligent guesses
and does not waste their time trying to get every
test item correct.
 On an IQ scale where 100 is an average score have
been rising about 3 points per decade.
RECOMMENDATION
 By analyzing the case study, we recommend
that young generation could help in absorbing
the impact of Flynn Effect by making them
aware of modern technologies, gadgets and
day to day changing environment.
 Well nourished brains perform better in IQ
tests, where western countries which are
developed are able to score more IQ than the
developing countries so we need to upgrade
the standard of living.
