3. Introduction
Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) is Bangladesh’s most
innovative and technologically advanced bank which is
the largest donor in to social causes in Bangladesh.
DBBL is proud to be associated with helping Bangladesh
as well as being a leader in the country’s banking
sector.

5. EDUCATION
• Scholarship programs–Awarded as the largest number of
scholarships in Bangladesh both the H.S.C and Graduation
level.
• Fellowship Program –DBBL has been awarding Fellowship for
pursuing M.Phil, Doctoral & Post Doctoral degrees since 2006
• Constructing a Research Center in Dhaka University – By
donating an amount of Taka 9,73,00,000.00 (Taka nine crore
and seventy three lac) for “Dutch-Bangla Bank Center for
Advanced Research in Arts & Social Sciences”

6. Health
• DBBL distributes the Treatment Cards to 50 HIV/AIDS
positive patients
• Women and children suffering from Anti Retro Viral
(ARV) is helped by them.
• “Smile Brighter”: more than 4,200 numbers of poor
cleft-lipped boys and girls successfully operated.
• Dutch-Bangla Bank authorities donated Tk. 4 crore for
construction of the first floor of the proposed Ahsania
Mission Cancer Hospital (AMCH).
• DBBL provides financial support for rehabilitation of
various types of disabled people by ensuring education
and training.

7. Women Empowerment
• Campaign against social menaces like acid violence
through print and electronic media since 2000
• In 2005 they rehabilitate the helpless acid victim
women of the country by maintaining small scale
agro-based rural enterprises like poultry, vegetable
farming, goat farming, fish farming etc.
• Some major donation recipient organizations are:
Dhaka Ahsania Mohila Mission for establishing a
vocational training center for the female
• Providing financial support to poor and helpless
women suffering from Vasico Vaginal Fistula (V.V.F.)

8. Culture and sports
• DBBL donated Tk. Three crore to Bangladesh
Olympic Association (BOA) for constructing the
six-storied Olympic Bhaban
• DBBL sponsored the prestigious ‘11thsouth
Asian games Dhaka 2010.

9. Information Technology
• Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) undertakes
a project with BASIS (Bangladesh Association
of Software and Information Services) to
award the best IT uses by Bangladeshi
companies and contributed Tk. 6.25 Lac.
• Vote for Cox’s Bazar-‘Jago Bangladesh’
mobilized by them also.

10. Disaster
• DBBL donates GCI sheets - Dutch-Bangla
Bank Limited (DBBL) donated 130 bundles of
GCI sheets worth Tk. 5.60 lack for
rehabilitating the homeless people affected by
river-erosion

11. Recommendations
• Primary school sector: primary school sector
is very backward in our country. DBBL can
nourish their social responsibility in this root
sector.
• SME sector: SME is also a root sector where
DBBL bank can apply credit formula this
sector. Thus it can probably expand its social
image.
• Microcredit sector: they should give micro
credit loan which will help the people a lot.

12. Conclusion
• As a third world country Bangladesh has lot of
problems. If more company came forward to
contribute to the society like DBBL, it will help
to create their social branding as well as
helping the society. So we can say DBBL is a
pioneer in Corporate Social Responsibility in
our country.
