The Chinese Pharmacopoeia is the official compendium of drugs in China, compiled by the Pharmacopoeia Commission of the Ministry of Health. It provides standards for purity, description, testing, dosage, precautions, storage and strength for both traditional Chinese and Western medicines. The Pharmacopoeia has been published in editions every 5-10 years since its first publication in 1953, with the latest edition being the 10th published in 2015. It contains over 2,600 monographs describing traditional Chinese and modern Western drugs. The Pharmacopoeia is recognized by the World Health Organization as the official compendiary standard for drugs in China.
