The present continuous tense is used to:
1) Describe an action that is happening at the moment of speaking or an action happening over a period of time that includes the present.
2) Describe an action or event that will happen in the future but has already been planned.
3) Describe a temporary situation or condition.
4) With words like 'always' or 'constantly', to emphasize a continuous series of repeated actions.
Some verbs like those expressing opinions, mental states, emotions or measurements are not typically used in the present continuous tense.
