2. Use
• We use the present progressive when we want to talk about something
happening right now, or at the moment.
• Also, we use it when we want to talk about a plan that we made for the
future.
3. Form
• The present progressive is formed by
adding "be" before the main verb and by
adding _ing to the end of the verb.
• Example of play:
I am playing
He/She/It is playing
We/They/You are playing
4. Form: • If the verb ends in 1 "e", we have to drop it,
and put _ing
e.g: Take --> The citizens are taking the
necessary precautions.
• If the verb ends in "ee", only add _ing
e.g: see--> The firefighters are seeing
something strange out here.
5. Form • If the verb ends in "ie" --> change it to "y"
and add "ing"
Example: lie--> He is lying in bed now.
• If the verb has a CVC pattern, double the last
consonant and add _ing
Example: Stop--> The police are stopping the
cars.
6. Negative and Question forms
• Negative Form:
"to be" + not + verb_ing
e.g: He is not eating pizza.
• Question form:
"to be" + subject + verb_ing
e.g: Are the boys crying?
