This document discusses Bangladesh's present and future energy scenario. It notes that Bangladesh currently relies heavily on natural gas for energy, which supplies around three-quarters of its energy needs. However, gas production is expected to peak in 2018 and decline thereafter. As a result, Bangladesh will need to increase its use of other energy sources like coal, liquefied natural gas, and renewable sources to meet growing energy demand driven by economic and population growth. The document examines Bangladesh's existing energy balance and electricity generation fuel mix, and presents plans to expand electricity supply through developing additional power from coal, LNG, nuclear, and hydro sources by 2030.
