service company. The Facebook website was launched on February 4, 2004,
by Mark Zuckerberg.
Facebook is a popular free social networking website that allows registered users
to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages and keep in touch with
friends, family and colleagues.

The site, which is available in 37 different languages, includes public features such as:
•Marketplace - allows members to post, read and respond to classified ads.
•Groups - allows members who have common interests to find each other and interact.
•Events - allows members to publicize an event, invite guests and track who plans to attend.
•Pages - allows members to create and promote a public page built around a specific topic.
•Presence technology - allows members to see which contacts are online and chat.
A Google+ User profile is a publicly visible account of a user that is attached to many
Google properties.
It includes basic social networking services like a profile photo, about section,
background photo, cover photo, previous work and school history, interests, places
lived and an area to post status updates.
GOOGLE PLUS
These sections optionally link to other social media accounts one has, any blogs one
owns or have written or sites one is a contributor to. This area is used for Google
Authorship.
But, user engagement on Google+ was low compared with its competitors. Estimated that
users averaged just 3.3 minutes on the site in January 2012, versus 7.5 hours for
Facebook.
 LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network with more than 546 million users in
more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
 It is a business- and employment-oriented social networking service that operates
via websites and mobile apps. it is mainly used for professional networking, including
employers posting jobs and job seekers posting their CVs. LinkedIn allows members to
create profiles and "connections" to each other in an online social network which may
represent real-world professional relationships.

Microblogging
Twitter is a free social networking microblogging service that allows registered
members to broadcast short posts called tweets. Twitter members can broadcast
tweets and follow other users' tweets by using multiple platforms and devices. Tweets
and replies to tweets can be sent by cell phone text message desktop client or by
posting at the Twitter.com website.
TWITTER
These messages were originally restricted to 140 characters, but on November 7,
2017, the limit was doubled to 280 characters for all languages except Japanese,
Korean and Chinese.
Twitter proved to be the largest source of breaking news.
Tumblr is a microblogging and social networking website founded by David Karp in
2007. The service allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog.
Users can follow other users' blogs. Bloggers can also make their blogs private.
Tumblr is free to use, so everyone from celebrities and business people to politicians and
teenagers are using Tumblr. Even companies are using Tumblr to get in front of broader
audiences and drive brand and sales growth.

Publishing a user's digital photos, enabling the user to share photos with others either publicly
or privately.
Examples: Instagram, Flickr, Snapshot and Pinterest
Like YouTube, Flickr and Instagram, which allow users to share their content (images, videos
and the like) with other users and also interact with them through social media profiles,
messages and comments. Popular image sharing sites include Flickr and Pinterest, whereas
Viddler ,Vimeo and youtube are video sharing sites popularly used.

Flickr is a photo sharing platform and social network where users upload photos
for others to see. It's more focused on the art of photography than any other
major social network out there. Think of it as Instagram for professional
photographers.

Snapchat is one of the most popular social apps today, Snapchat is both a messaging platform
and a social network. To make a long story kind of short, Snapchat is an app that truly
changed how people interact with friends The heaviest Snapchat users are teenagers and
young adults who submerge themselves in social media and are pretty addicted to their
smartphones

This social media is so pervasive that it is unusual to if someone claim they don’t have
Facebook accounts.
 Facebook’s services is constantly updating. Its wide varieties of features like status
updating, pictures & video sharing & uploading, sponsored ads, and now introducing
shopify will keep the social media at top for the time being.
 Recently Facebook introduced Lead Ads.
Facebook is improving by the day. In the last four years, the number of
users has almost doubled. The future is looking very bright. There will
be more users to show your content to and advertising will likely keep
getting better and cheaper. Facebook is improving by the day. In the

Each channel is used in different ways. We have learnt in the various previous
slides.

who use the internet are on Facebook. Thirty-two percent use Instagram, 31
percent are Pinterest users, 29 percent are on LinkedIn and 24 percent use Twitter.
