b) Based on your reflections about this recording and the values you highlighted above,
describe what was well developed in this class and what needs improvement.
The transition between activities was well developed as well as the presentation of the
material. The timing was alright, considering that this was the first time I met the
children, and their feedback was quite good, but I think that it could be better, the main
problem was connectivity since I had a delay when listening to their responses, and at
some points they had their screens frozen so I could not see nor guess what they were
saying. In general terms, the class was well developed, and the rapport with the learners,
(taking into account that this was the first time they’d ever seen me) was quite good. I
think that more language use in class needs to be improved.
Final comments (to be completed by your tutor):
I fully agree with your comments, Suyai! I include now, my comments for lesson 2:
You may play some background music while waiting for everyone to come into
Zoom.
Comentario [R1]: Right, Suyai! E.g.
Choral repetition, they love it.
Also, consider this delay by slowing down,
perhaps.
2. Make sure you have the materials (recordings, videos, etc.) downloaded and
that you play them from the computer (not from Drive).
You managed to overcome the difficulties by singing and inviting children to
dance and sing. Excellent!
You may try to silence the group’s microphones before presenting the pictures
or productions (although I know that some may turn the mic on again).
Important: stop sharing screen as soon as you pass on to a following stage.
You used body language and gestures to convey meaning. Well done!
If you ask children to show you something, stop sharing screen for a while, and
then, share again. Anyway, you were connected with two devices, weren´t you?
You promoted interaction through the visual aids and used English and Spanish.
Make sure you invite children to repeat after you. More repetition could be
used. Children love repeating, changing voices, and so on.
