The author displays an unedited image that will be used on the front cover of their magazine. They state that the image is dull and boring, so they will need to substantially increase the lighting, color, and crop out any distractions to make it more visually appealing to their target demographic audience. The author then shows the edited version of the image, where they increased saturation, brightness/contrast, and cropped out a distracting bin to better focus attention on the main subject, a member of the Manchester public. The author believes these edits will help appeal to their target audience of photography lovers and critics.

1. PR23: Preparing Images

2. As you can see to left of this particular slide I have displayed the
un-edited version of my first image which I will be using on the
front cover of my magazine. In addition, the first image is
actually quite dull and boring therefore, with this particular
image I would have to substantially increase the lighting and
colour so that the image on my front cover will look substantially
more visually appealing towards my demographical target
audience. This specific image also displays a member of the
Manchester demographical public therefore, as stated in PR22
my images will appeal to a broad demographic target audience as
they all focus on different aspects of photography therefore,
adhering to my target audience’s fantasies and pleasures. To
conclude, due to these facts stated above I thoroughly believe
that I will need to substantially improve its colour to make it
more appealing as well as crop or cut out any distractions which
will draw my audience away from the main focus of the image
which is a member of the Manchester public.

3. Furthermore, as you can see to the left of this particular slide I have displayed the final
edited piece which I will use for the front cover of my magazine. As stated in the slide
before I wanted to visually enhance the image so I could appeal more substantially
towards my demographical target audience. In addition, I managed to crop this image
because as you saw before there was a bin displayed on the left side of the image and I
thought it was slightly distracting for my target audience therefore, drawing them away
from the main focus due to this particular fact, I cut the aspect out to make my image
substantially better. I also decided to make the light in the tunnel a lot dimmer, but also
brighter therefore, by doing this I would have been able to place my subject in more
focus therefore from this my target audience would have been able to view my portrait
photograph in much more focus. Also as you can see above whilst I was editing this
specific image I used the hue/saturation tool to substantially increase the colour
contrast within my portrait image. As you can see to the left with this tool I managed to
saturate aspects of the image so I could make it much better. In addition, another
image adjustment tool which I used in order to visually enhance my image was
vibrance and brightness/contrast. With these particular tools I managed to once again
place the member of the Manchester public in more focus therefore, by doing this I’d be
able to substantially adhere towards my demographical target audience and this would
happen because they’ll be able to obtain an insight to which people live and visit
Manchester in full detail. In addition, as this particular image was in full focus they’ll
also be able to view the strong usage of depth of field which placed the subject in my
more focus therefore, adhering or appealing to photography lovers and critics. To
conclude, I thoroughly believe by doing this that my demographic target audience will
enjoy my photography magazine much more. In addition, due to my evidence above
and within the previous slide I thoroughly believe that my images which I manipulated
have showed the examiner that I could be a successful candidate within this particular
media industry which is page layout & design.
