In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
                         conventions of media products?

• My music magazine uses many conventions of real media including bright
colours, a bold brand name with a tagline/catchphrase that is simple and
easy to remember. I have also used bright colours through out my
magazine to help it stand out. Although the artist is not superimposed
over the headings I feel this has allowed the reader to see the headings
clearly without any problem reading, though if I did it again I would
probably put boxes around all the worlds as that would help visibility and
not make the titles as difficult to read.
How does your media product represent particular social groups? Who would be the
                       audience for your media product?

• Originally I started planning this magazine to be aimed at audiences of all
ages but after looking at the finished product I have noticed that due to
the bright colourings and the images I have used it is more obvious that
this product would be better aimed at early – mid teenagers. The product
would represent the age group as it has competitions that they can enter,
pull out posters and information about different bands inside.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

• If my media product was to be distributed then a company like Bauer
Media Group would probably be the best for the job. BMG distribute music
magazines like Q and Kerrang and the target audience I am aiming for would
be more likely to read those kinds of magazines compared to NME or
Blender.
How did you attract or address your audience?

• By using competitions and cheap monthly subscriptions to the magazine
my media product the audience can get involved in the magazine and use
it to get the monthly gossip and interviews that they wanted after
answering the previous questionnaire. I also feel the double page spread
has helped to attract the audience as the questions that were asked by the
target audience for the artists to answer.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing your
                                     product?

  • Through the process of creating this product I have learnt how to use the
programme Photoshop to create my magazine. Something I had never
used before until I began this course.
Looking back at your preliminary, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression
from it to the full product?

• I feel the preliminary helped to teach me the basics of creating a magazine
which then allowed me to push forward and continue my learning to
create my final magazine. In my preliminary task the font was basic and
was created in Microsoft Publisher, whereas in the final product the brand
name was created in Photoshop then added to the magazine. The
preliminary was also only 2 different colours, compared to the many used
in my final product. This meant the preliminary looked boring and did not
stand out to any audience that Graeme Burton’s theory would fit.
