2. • First things first, the R.A.C.E acronym stands for Research,
Action, Communication, Evaluation.
• I think this is one of the most things we have learned this
semester because it taught me an essential way to do things
in the PR field. It taught me the steps to reach my goals in a
PR plan.
3. • Public Relations and Marketing are two way different
things. PR deals with journalistic writings and media
relationships. It creates mutual understandings and
cooperation.
• Marketing is persuasive in nature by selling products. It
often limits PR to product publicity and promotion.
• Being a PR major with a Marketing minor, I found it
helpful to know the difference between the two.
4. • The goals of communication are 1.) Message Exposure, 2.)
Accurate Dissemination of the Message, 3.) Acceptance of the
Message, 4.)Attitude Change, and 5.) Change in Overt
Behavior.
• These five steps in communicating your goal to your audience
was extremely helpful. I learned how to deliver my message
or what I am trying to say across to my audience by using
these steps.
5. • Knowing the difference between Ethics and the Law in Public
Relations is definitely something to remember being that I
want to one day work in a PR firm.
• Ethics is the idea of your own moral beliefs on things that
something might be “right” but we won’t get charged for it.
• Law is something that can legally charge you for doing
something illegal or prohibits the rules.
6. • Last but not least, I thoroughly enjoyed
learning how to do a press release. With the
job I wish to do in the future, I am going to
have to write these all the time. After learning
how to do them and the concepts that go into
them I realized they weren’t that bad, but
better yet useful.
