DIAGNOSIS OF PREGNANCY IN THE FIRST TRIMESTER -12WEEK:
A- symptom :
1- Amenorrhea .
2- Morning sickness.
3- Frequency of micturition .
4-Breast symptom as enlargement ,heaviness, pain .
5- Change of appetite , longing.
6-Some women are sleepy , depressed ,other may be irritable and suffer
insomnia.
3. B- Signs:
1- Breast signs.
2-Uterine sign, cervical, vaginal
and
vulval signs.
C- Special investigation.:
1-Pregenancy test.
- urine test.
- blood tests.
2- Sonography.
4. Diagnosis in the second trimester (13-28 weeks):
1- Symptom:
-amenorrhea.
-breast symptom .
-Quickening: it is the first time at which the
mother feels fetal movement .
Progressive abdominal enlargement.
2- signs:
-breast signs. –uterine signs.
Fetal signs: approach of satire gravidarum and linea nigra.
3- special investigation:
-pregnancy test. – sonography.
5. Diagnosis in the third trimester (29-40
weeks):
1- palpitation of fetal part.
2-palpitation of fetal movement.
3- hearing FHS (Fetal heart sound).
4- Hearing umbilical soufflé.
5-Seening fetal movement.
6-seening fetal skeleton by sonography.
Differential Diagnosis:
1- other causes of amenorrhea.
2-causes of symmetrical enlargement of the uterus
as fibroid.
3- causes of pelvi-abdominal swelling as fibroid or
ovarian cyst.
6. Maternal change during pregnancy:
1- The genital organ.
2- The breast
3- Cutaneous changes.
4- Cardiovascular system.
5- Respiratory system.
6- Gastrointestinal tract.
7-Urinary tract.
8- Nervous system.
9- Musculoskeletal system.
10- Endocrine gland.
11- Metabolic change.
