This document summarizes the key components of a thermal power plant, including a coal handling plant, boiler, steam turbine, and auxiliary systems. The boiler system uses a feed water system to provide water and a steam system to control the steam produced. It can use two sources of feed water: condensed steam or makeup water. The steam turbine converts the kinetic energy of steam into rotational mechanical power. Other components discussed include the deaerator, heat exchangers, super heater, condenser, and feed water heater.
The Thermal Power Station burns fuel & uses the resultant to make the steam, which derives the turbo generator. The Fuel i.e. coal is burnt in pulverized from. The pressure energy of the steam produce is converted into mechanical energy with the help of turbine. The mechanical energy is fed to the generator where the magnet rotate inside a set of stator winding & thus electricity is produced in India 65% of total power is generated by thermal power stations. To understand the working of the Thermal Power Station plant, we can divide the whole process into following parts.
This is ppt about the steam power plant. In this ppt, whole concepts of steam power plant is covered.it is very helpful for student as well as business person for the presentation purpose.

A generating station which converts heat energy of coal combustion into electrical energy is known as a thermal power station.
IN THIS PPT THERE ARE SOME WAYS OF USING TECHNIQUES TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF POLLUTION CAUSED BY THERMAL POWER PLANT

A thermal power station is a power plant in which the prime mover is steam driven. Water is heated, turns into steam and spins a steam turbine which drives an electrical generator. After it passes through the turbine, the steam is condensed in a condenser and recycled to where it was heated; this is known as a Rankine cycle. The greatest variation in the design of thermal power stations is due to the different fossil fuel resources generally used to heat the water. Some prefer to use the term energy center because such facilities convert forms of heat energy into electrical energy.[1] Certain thermal power plants also are designed to produce heat energy for industrial purposes of district heating, or desalination of water, in addition to generating electrical power. Globally, fossil fueled thermal power plants produce a large part of man-made CO2 emissions to the atmosphere, and efforts to reduce these are varied and widespread.

8. THE BOILER SYSTEM COMPRISES OF
Feed water system:-Feed water system provides water to the
boiler
Steam system:- steam system collects and controls the steam
produced in the boiler
Fuel system:- The fuel system includes all equipment used to
provide fuel.
Two sources of feed water
Condensate or condensed steam returned from the processes.
Makeup water (treated raw water) which must come from
outside
9. Steam Turbine
It is a machine in which
a shaft is rotated steadily
by reaction of steam, air
upon blades of a wheel.
When Steam is used
then called steam
turbine.
Kinetic Mechanical
Energy power
11. 3. Deaerator
A deaerator is a device that is widely used for the removal of air and
other dissolved gases from the feed water to steam generating boilers
In particular, dissolved oxygen in boiler feedwaters will cause serious
It also combines with
any dissolved carbon
dioxide to form
carbonic acid.
Most deaerators are
designed to remove
oxygen down to levels
of 7 ppb by
weight (0.0005 cm³/L)
or less.
12. 4. Heat excHangers
Heat exchangers are equipment that transfers heat from one medium
to another.
Heat exchanger performance can deteriorate with time, off design
operations and other interferences such as fouling, scaling etc.
It is necessary to assess periodically the heat exchanger performance
in order to maintain them at a high efficiency level.
13. 5. Super Heater
A super heater is a device in a steam engine that heats the steam
generated by the boiler again, increasing its thermal energy.
Super heaters increase the efficiency of the steam engine, and were
widely adopted.
Super heaters were
applied to steam
locomotives
to most steam vehicles,
and to stationary steam
engines including power
stations.
15. 8. Feed water Heater
The feed water heating equipment then raises the temperature of the
water by utilizing extraction steam from various stages of the turbine.
Preheating the feed water reduces the irreversibility's involved in
steam generation
